ABSTRACT
The world wide consumption of concrete was estimated to be about

8.8billion tons per year .

Due to increase in infrastructure development, the demand for concrete

would increase in the future.

This project Presents the experiment study on geo polymer concrete by

partial replacing of fine aggregate with steel mill scale and partial replacing of cement with fly ash.

Binder solutions NaOH & NaSiO2 are added to accelerate the binding

property.

Super plasticizers such as naphthalene, polystyrene and polypropylene are

used for strengthening purposes.

Conventional concrete is to be compared with this geo polymer concrete for

its compressive and tensile strength.

OBJECTIVE
To determine the compressive strength and tensile strength of this

geopolymer concrete and compare it over the conventional concrete.

To achieve the economical in construction field To improve the strength of conventional concrete

INTRODUCTION:

The world wide consumption of concrete was estimated to be about 9 billion tones per year. ue to increase in infrastructure development the demand for concrete would increase in future. Waste material have been introduced in to the construction industry to the replacement of cement from past few years(fly ash, rice husk).

Geo polymer concrete is the new invention by the experts which plays vital role in construction field. Sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate are used as a polymer binder It reduce the cost of the construction and strengthening the structure as well.

WHAT IS STEEL MILL SCALE ?

During the processing of steel smelting, iron oxides will
form on the surface of the metal, these oxides known as

steel mill scale, occur during continuous casting,

reheating and hot rolling operations. The scale is removed by water sprays and collected then disposed of by dumping(export to the foreign countries at low price).

No shrinkage due to hydration takes place in the concrete. The geopolymer concrete is resistant to the corrosive environment. The compressive strength measured after 28 days elapsed from the

moment of their preparation ranged from 100 to 160 Mpa.

VIJAYA RANGAN AND DODY M.J. Faculty of Engineering, Curtin University of Australia Studies on fly ash-based geopolymer concrete (1997)
Fly ash-based geopolymer concrete has excellent compressive

strength and is suitable for strucral application.

The salient factors that influence the properties of the fresh

concrete and the hardened concrete have been identified.

Fly ash-based geopolymer concrete offers several economic benefits

over Portland cement concrete.

CONCLUSION
We have made a revolution on concrete by this geopolymer concrete

in construction field.
By using fly ash as the partial replacement of cement, we can

achieve good and economical concrete.

By using steel slag as the fine aggregate we improve the strength of

the concrete.
By using fly ash significantly reduce the greenhouse gas emission.
