COLOR or HUE

Color or hue is the property of light by which the color of an object is classified. This means that color is created by LIGHT! No light, no color The brighter the light the more intense the color.

The color wheel is a band of 12 colors arranged in a circle. Yellow is traditionally at the top of the color wheel

The primary colors, when mixed together, can produce any color on the color wheel. Often called parent colors These colors cannot be mixed together to achieve their original color. This is an example of a TRIAD three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel.

TERTIARY COLORS
Tertiary colors are made by mixing equal amounts of one primary and one secondary color together. Each primary color has 2 tertiary colors. (ex. Yellow has yellow-green and yellow-orange) Always say the primary color first. (yellowgreen, blue-green, blue-violet, red-violet, redorange, yellow-orange)

Complimentary colors are opposite each other on the color wheel. The colors must be EVENLY SPACED on the color wheel to be compliments. Complimentary colors look good together, they COMPLIMENT each other . Duh!
