JAIPUR DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

Jaipur Development Authority, a body constituted under Jaipur Development Authority Act 1982(Act.25) under the Department of Urban Development and Housing, Government of Rajasthan. JDA has been committed to work for the benefit of the citizen of Jaipur with planned implementation of development scheme and is consistently striving to take Jaipur at higher levels of progress.

ABOUT THE PROJECT AND SITE

One of the busiest intersection due to traffic congestion. More possibilities of accidents. Earlier proposal was the construction of 4 lane flyover. Then metro corridor proposed from Mansarovar to Ajmer road via Gurjar Ki Thadi intersection. And so the construction of underpass on Gurjar Ki Thadi decided.

PROJECT PROFILE

Name of the work = Gurjar Ki Thadi Underpass Department = Jaipur Development Authority, Jaipur. Agency = ARSS Infrastructure Pvt. Limited. Consultant = N.K. Buildcon Pvt. Limited. Cost of Project = Rs 28,27,44,480 Date of Started = 13.10.2009 Duration = 18 Month

ADVANTAGES OF UNDERPASS

Reduction of load of heavy vehicle. Reduction in the rate of accidents. Will provide convenient crossing through intersection. Waiting on traffic signal will be for less interval. Heavy vehicles can pass without affecting local traffic.

SLUMP TEST FOR CONCRETE

Slump is a measurement of concretes workability. a cone, 300 mm of height. The base is 200 mm in dia and it has a smaller opening at the top of 100 mm . The slump value at the site was =90mm (For M40) for slab of Box

SIEVE ANALYSIS(COARSE AGGREGATE)

Quantity of aggregate = 5000 gm Material name = 20 mm aggreget

Cont..

Quantity of aggregate = 3000gm Material name = 10mm aggregate

SIEVE ANALYSIS ( SAND)

Quantity of sand = 500 gm Material name = Sand

Cont
Fineness modulus :-A measure of the fineness or coarseness of an aggregate sample, usually the fine aggregate (sand). It is determined by adding the cumulative percent retained on each of a specified series of sieves, and dividing the sum by 100. FM = Sum(Cumulative % retained)/100 FM= 4.2+17.40+25.60+53.60+82.40+95.80 100 FM = 2.79

AGGREGATE IMPACT VALUE TEST

Material name = 20 mm aggregate Quantity of aggregate = 1500 gm

Cont..
AIV = weight of crushed aggregatr passing through 2.36mm sieve x 100 weight of dry aggregate taken

AIV= 81 x 100 339 AIV= 23.89 % (for 1st trial) 23.44% (for 2nd trial) 24.11% (for 3rd trial) 23.46% (for 4th trial)
Average Value = 23.73 %

IN SITU DENSITY TEST- SAND REPLACEMENT METHOD ( For GSB)

Cont.
Max. dry density of sand=2.145gm/cc Bulk density of sand =2025/1505.58=1.345gm/cc Weigth of soil from hole=3110gm Wet density of soil=3110/1505.58=2.066gm/cc Moisture content(w) =5.0% Dry density of soil=wet density of soil/(1+w) = 2.066 /1.05=1.968gm/cc Degree of compaction =1.968 x100/2.145=91.75%

CONCRETE MIX DESIGN OF M40 GRADE (using OPC-43 Vikram ultra tech cement)

Design as per IS : 10262 What is mix design The process of selecting suitable ingredients of concrete and determining their relative amounts with the objective of producing a concrete of the required, strength, durability, and workability as economically as possible, is termed the concrete mix design. M40 grade used in this project for construction. To aarive a proper design mix , specific gravity of coarse aggregate and fine aggregates was determined in site laboratory at casting yard.

Cont..

Parameter for mix design M40 fine aggregates = 2.67 Coarse aggregates = 2.63 degree of control = good Exposure = moderate Nominal mix of aggregates = 20mm Grading of sand = Zone-II

Cont

Target strength (ft) = fck + K. S Ft=40 +1.65X6.6 Ft=50.89 N/mm2 Water content =162 Kg W/C ratio for 43-OPC (as per curve E) = 34%

Cont..

Cont

Cement content = 162/.36 =450 Kg Sand as percentage of total aggregate considering volume = 34% Considering fully saturated dry aggregate and free moisture in sand Now considering 2% entrapped air for 20mm grade aggregate

Cont

For Fine aggregate V = [ W + (C/Sc) + (1/p) . (fa/Sfa) ] x (1/1000)

V -is absolute volume of fresh concrete W -is mass of water(Kg) in per cubic meter of concrete C is mass of cement(Kg) in per cubic meter of concrete Sc = specific gravity of cement, (p) = Ratio of fine aggregate to total aggregate by absolute volume , fa = total mass of fine aggregate Sfa = specific gravities of saturated surface dry fine aggregate

Cont
0.98 = [ 162 + ( 450 / 3.15 ) + ( 1 / 0.34 ) ( Fa / 2.67 )] ( 1 /1000 )

Fa = 613.027 kg Say Fa = 613 kg.

FOR COARSE AGGREGATE V = [ W + (C/Sc) + {1/(1-p)} . (ca/Sca) ] x (1/1000) 0.98 = [ 162 + ( 450 / 3.15 ) + ( 1 / 0.64 ) ( Ca / 2.63)] ( 1 /1000 ) => Ca = 1171.36 kg. Say Ca = 1171 kg.

Cont..
Hence Mix details per m3 Cement = 450 kg Water = 162 kg Fine aggregate = 613 kg Coarse aggregate 20 mm = 703 kg Coarse aggregate 10 mm = 468 kg Admixture(fosroc Sp 500) = 1 % by weight of cement = 4.5 kg.

Water: cement: F.A.: C.A. = 0.34: 1: 1.36: 2.60
