Reported that she was topless for the shot, although Liebovitz said she wasnt Disney, "a situation [that] was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines. Miley, I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be artistic and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about. Liebovitz, Im sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted," Leibovitz said. " The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.

the photographer places the subject in a carefully controlled setting to capture the essence of the individual's life and work captured his subjects in their most familiar surroundings with representative visual elements showing their professions and personalities "The surroundings had to add to the composition and the understanding of the person. No matter who the subject was, it had to be an interesting photograph. Just to simply do a portrait of a famous person doesn't mean a thing.
