Vocabulary: Hydration-supply water or liquid to in order

to maintain a healthy balance in your body

Begin Your Day With Water Drink a glass of water upon waking Add Some Flavor- Put some fresh fruit on the bottom of your glass or add a dash of lemon, orange or berry juice. Set a Schedule- Setting a schedule, such as a glass of water when you wake up and before bed, along with one with each meal, ensures you receive what your body craves. Fill a Water Bottle -Fill a water bottle and take it with you. Carry it by your side at all times, taking a few sips here and there throughout the day. Eat More Fruits and Vegetables -Fruits and vegetables contain a large amount of water, therefore, try to include as many servings with your meals as possible. Most processed foods decrease the water supply in your body; replacing these with fruits and veggies prevents dehydration from occurring. Increase Intake During Exercise- Drink water before, during and after your workout. Sweat is a water loss. Signs of Dehydration- Recognizing the signs of dehydration is as important as taking the steps to prevent it. If you produce little or no urine or urine that is darker than usual, seek medical attention. Other signs include extreme thirst, fatigue, dry mouth, confusion and feeling dizzy or lightheaded.

Hydration
When you're well hydrated, you feel more energetic and alert, your muscles work more efficiently and your organs are better able to flush out toxins. Proper hydration also helps maintain normal body temperature and appropriate electrolyte (salt) balance. Drinking water can help relieve feelings of hunger, because at times, people mistake thirst sensations for hunger sensations. Staying hydrated reduces such episodes, which can contribute to better appetite regulation and control.

Remember water comes in many forms!

Creating a plan- Why do it?

Students will be creating and executing a plan to manage their academic, extracurricular, personal health, and family responsibilities. This plan is something that can be changed if needs arise, such as more time needed to study for the CRCT, or practice happens more often because a big game is coming up). However, this plan is a guideline of how to manage their time and health so that they can get the most out of life. Everyone can change something in their lives to enhance their health or self-concept.
