Cup press
Converts a flat circular plate into a short cup with a closed base.

Lube / draw / wash

A three-stage process lubrication, drawing and washing. Creates a long shell with a thin wall (while retaining the necessarily thick base area), as well as a thick open end for the neck.

Large liner tube inspection

All aluminum tube for large liner manufacturing is inspected.

Small liner spinning

Hightemperature process: spinning the open end of the shell to form a neck.

Large liner spinning

Hightemperature process: spinning the open end of the shell to form a neck.

Small liner heat treat

Two-stage heating process, with an interim quench, to strengthen and toughen the aluminum.

Large liner heat treat

Two-stage heating process, with an interim quench, to strengthen and toughen the aluminum.

Machining
High-speed, CNCcontrolled machining to form the thread, including the O-ring gland area.

Winding
Application of carbon fiber, and then glass fiber along with epoxy resin, to provide 90% of the strength of the finished cylinder. Normally then heated by a lowtemperature oven to accelerate curing of the cylinder.

Sanding
An automated sanding process removes surplus resin and fibers.

Hydrostatic test
Every cylinder is hydrostatically tested to verify that it has been manufactured correctly.

Gel coat
A final layer of sacrificial gel coat is applied to provide a superior aesthetic finish.
