Why were animals created?

And the cattle, He hascreatedthem for you; in them there is warmth (warm clothing), and numerous benefits, and of them you eat [al-Nahl 16:5] And (He hascreated) horses, mules and donkeys, for you to ride and as an adornment. And He creates (other) things of which you have no knowledge [al-Nahl 16:8] 5/7/12

And He it is Who has subjected the sea (to you), that you eat thereof fresh tender meat, and that you bring forth out of it ornaments to wear. And you see the ships ploughing through it, that you may seek (thus) of His Bounty (by transporting the goods from place to place) and that you may be grateful [al-Nahl 16:14]

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A woman entered Hell because of a cat which she tied up and did not feed, nor did she allow it to eat of the vermin of the earth (mice). Narrated Salim : that Ibn Umar disliked thebranding ofanimals on theface. Ibn Umar said, The Prophet forbade beating (animals) on theface. (Bukhari,Book#67, Hadith#449) It was narrated from Jaabir ibn Abd-Allaah that a donkey whose face had been branded passed by the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and he said, May Allah curse the one who branded him.

How should we treat our animals?

He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind. [Al-Lokman 31:10]

1. Circus Animals The harsh treatment of animals in circuses has spawned protests by humane societies and animal rights groups, which have focused on abusive training and handling practices, the constant confinement endured by the animals, and the dangers that animal circuses pose to the public.

Bullfighting Bullfightingis criticized by animal rights or animal welfare activists, referring to it as a cruel or barbaricblood sportin which the bull suffers severe stress and a slow, torturous death. A number of activist groups undertake anti-bullfighting actions in Spain and other countries. In Spanish, opposition to bullfighting is referred to asantitaurina.

3. Warfare Military animalsare creatures that have been employed by humankind for use inwarfare. They are a specific application ofworking animals. Examples includes horses, dogs, dolphin and etc.

Many jurisdictions around the world have enacted statutes which forbid cruelty to some animals but these vary by country and in some cases by the use or practice

In Japan, the 1973 Welfare and Management of Animals Act (amended in 1999 and 2005) stipulates that no person shall kill, injure, or inflict cruelty to animals without due course, and in particular, criminalises cruelty to all mammals, birds, and reptiles possessed by persons; as well as cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, dogs, cats, pigeons, domestic rabbits, chickens, and domestic ducks regardless of whether they are in 5/7/12 captivity.
