Reflective learning foundation in workplace for humanistic learning style

analysis based on experience during realisation of projects in real working environment by Krzysztof Tomaszko

Introduction
As per practical part of my second years Continual Professional Development I have chosen two very different places to gain learning experience and by realization of work placement and project tasks. For my Project I have established contact with local company of mechanics who were looking for someone to manage preparations for introduction and implementation of new Invoicing system and also needed a design of new advertising leaflets. My placement work was an IT administrator and Trainer role in Primary School were my main task was to prepare and provide training for all school staff about basic web design and maintaining web space given teachers under their care. My learning targets were: Digital graphics design - to learn how to produce professional advertising leaflets using graphical tools like Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop. Implementation project management -to develop my project management and implementation skills; gain knowledge and practical skills which will allow me realization of client requests and project tasks effectively installing necessary hardware and software. Preparation and use of different presentation and teaching techniques in professional training -to learn how to prepare and present information using most effective presentation and teaching methods. to improve my flexibility and adaptability to work environment which would also enhance my skill in managing multiple priorities. to enhance my verbal and non-verbal communication skills thru email correspondence phone calls and meeting discussions with project stakeholders.

Experience
Various environments can create different obstacles when trying to reach the target especially in tight time schedule.

Planning
It is important to plan tasks in accordance to materials and taking into account time necessary for learning new skills as this may be the key problem causing delays and schedule shifts. Overestimation is main enemy. Estimate effort using more than method as this approach guarantees optimal plan realization as well as provides alternate route in case of obstacles. Review and consider external dependencies: if your work may depend upon that of others make this clear so that these people too will know about their involvement in the project.

It is more likely that you experience problems with your project or its part if you wont keep communication part of the plan.

Observation
Strict observation and prompt notice of any delays or differences in accordance to project plan may have significant meaning for schedule or project plan adjustments. Having implemented tracking procedures will make sure you have enough evidence for analysis if problem occurs. Observation by communication with project stakeholders and team members will ensure that youll be more likely to predict any oncoming incidents and may have chance to prevent majority of them.

Reflection
It is extremely important to allow enough time to analyze situation and elements that are causing delays or alternations to principal plans as the good understanding of problem is the key to further planning.
