Subject: Photocatalyst TiO2

on Bentonites and application on organic compounds: methylene blue and phenol

Bentonites
Bentonites: The rich abundant nature source, not just only used in arts and crafts

Bentoniteswas made use to treat with waste

Bentonites composition
In nature, the major component of Bentonites are: Montmorillonites, Gypsum, Quartz, Plagioclase,Feldspate,

Bentonites layer structure and relatively porous, so in the environmental treatment Bentonites is often used as a natural adsorbent material and dispersion phase of the catalyst to increase the surface area the catalyst as well as increased adsorption of catalyst.

TiO2 - Photocatalyst
Photocatalyst:(first introduced in 1930) are catalysts that are activated under UV or visible radiation. Without light radiation, photocatalyst is not active; it is different from other types of catalysts which require heat to activate.

AOP-advanced oxidation process Photocatalyst mechanism Titanium dioxide (Ti2O), also called titania, is white, turned yellow when heated. Titania occurs in nature in a variety of forms. three are commonly seen:

anatase

rutile

brookite

In this research: four Bentonites (C01, C02, C03, C04) and a diatomite (C01)were obtained from Rio Negro(Argentina)

C01-C04: lamellar materials C05: Higher area due to its porous tubular structure

UV-visible spectroscopy

The band centered at 330 nm, just be activated in UV radiation

Solar energy is the abundant natural source but only 5-7% of solar radiation leis in UV region.
