Web Quest by Rachel Chester

Where the Wild Things Are was written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak. This book was published in 1963. He first offered to illustrated books for other authors, then later began to write books himself. He has been given 6 awards and even has an elementary school named after him in California.

We are about to take a journey through the book. Max is going to be our guide during this book. He will help you experience the wild things by using your imagination. This journey will begin at night and you will still have your hot dinner waiting for you when you get back. But DO NOT FORGET you must keep a journal through your adventure.

Before we start our adventure you must get into groups of six. Max has given me a list of words that you must know before we can begin. Here are the six words: Mischief Private Tamed Frighten Gnashed Rumpus Each person will fill out only one part of the worksheet that you know first and then trade with the person next to you to fill out the next part of the worksheet. You will continue to trade with those in the your group till the worksheet is completed. Click HERE for examples of the worksheet. You are getting close to the adventure, keep going!!!

Max wants to see if you can predict what the adventure you are going to take. A prediction is to tell about something in advance. Now you will look a few pictures from the book. With these pictures you are to predict what is happening during the time of the pictures. During your adventure you will see if you made the right predictions.

You will write your predictions in your composition

book.

To begin your adventure read the book Where the Wild Things Are or click in the picture below. Find where this video is on the page and press play. You may refer back to this video later on the worksheet.
For the worksheet you will be answering the questions:
Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How?

You may begin!!!

On this adventure you will be classifying things as living, nonliving, and once living. Use the book or refer back to the video to look at the pictures. On the worksheet, list the things under each category and GIVE AN EXPLANATION for why you put them under that category.
For practice determining if they are living or nonliving click HERE! For video select HERE!

Today you will be identifying the different types of familiar land and bodies of water that will pass on the way to an adventure you would take. If there is someone you take with you to lead you, include them on this adventure. You will be given paper for you to draw your adventure on. Make sure you identify the things in your adventure.
