    HOW TV IS AN EFFECTIVE MEDIA?


    57% of TV program contain violence Children programming contains 5 times more violence than prime time television. 25% of violent acts involve handguns Childrens TV shows contain about 20 violent acts each hour

    NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON CHILDREN

    Violence is often rewarded and often has negative consequences.


    - 73% of perpetrators on TV are unpunished (National Television Violence Study, 1992) - Heroes are rarely punished

    Obesity Eye problem Heart problem Various other diseases

    Becomes asocial and sometimes antisocial Becomes unrealistic and sometimes takes useless risks Looses childhood and becomes vulgar, adult and aggressive

    CONCLUSION watching TV has both positive and negative aspect It depends on viewer what he grabs. there should be effort from guardian to resist watching and promoting vulgar shows Children should watch TV only in leisure time Producers should keep in mind children while designing shows Govt. should give subsidies for such shows

    WHAT PARENTS CAN DO...


    Talk to your children explain to them what they are seeing/experiencing watch at least one episode of the programs that your children watch outright ban any programs that are too offensive limit viewing hours encourage child to spend time on sports hobbies or with their friends draw up enjoyable activities
