REFRIGERATION SECTION: Ammonia gas is used as a refrigerant.

It is stored in tanks painted yellow.

It is pumped through a condensor.

Glycol is used as a chilling agent.

The principle of latent heat of vapourisation is

used.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT: The water is pumped from the earth.

Many bore wells are used to pump the water.

It is then stored in the raw storage tank.

Chlorine is added in this water.

The principle of reverse osmosis is also used.

It is then sent to the raw syrup tank.

It is heated at a temperature of 65*- 85* C.

Sugar is then dumped into the RST tank.

The final degree brix and the volume is

WATER TREATMENT LAB TEST:

Two tests are used to measure the level of alkalinity that may be present in the form of bicarbonates, carbonates, and hydroxides. Too much alkalinity in the water neutralizes some of the characteristics acidic taste of our products. The P and M test measures the level of alkalinity in the effluent of the sand filter. It is performed every four hours while the system is operation.

P & M Test & pH Meter:

To perform the P and M test, take a carefully measured sample (50 milliliters) of water and add one drop of sodium thiosulphate, or T solution. Adding this solution first neutralizes any chlorine that may be present and ensures accurate readings from the indicators. If you are using a pH meter, the P end point is 8.3 and the M end point is 4.9.

P Alkalinity TEST:

Next, add three or four drops of the phenolphthalein indicator solution. The solution remains colorless, record the P alkalinity as 0.02 milligrams per liter. If the samples turns pink, titrate with a 0.02 normal sulfuric acid solution until the sample turns colorless. In the log book, record the amount of acid used in milliliters. Multiply this volume by 20 to determine the P reading.

M Alkalinity TEST:

Then, add three or four drops of methyl I purple indicator solution to the same sample, which will turn green if alkalinity is present. Without refilling the burette, titrate the solution until the color turns purple. Record the total amount of acid used in milliliters. Multiply this volume by 20 to determine M , or total alkalinity.
