She is an American singer/songwriter who has claimed her way into what is defined today as Mood Music or Spoken Word. Her songs offer not only the variation of mood and vibe, but also the declaration that lyrics are more than just words to be memorized. They are poetic in nature and should be listened to with the same enthusiasm as the melody. Virginia’s ethereal acoustic guitar based songwriting and hypnotic, haunting voice are clearly the prime elements behind her songs.
Her sound has been described as having a depth that is simultaneously dark, brooding and intelligent as well as spiritually uplifting and playful. She is the recipient of multiple Asbury Music Awards for best female vocalist and best female solo performer. She also holds nominations for top song of the year (So Sweet), best new band, and best new album of the year, (Hush, the e.p).
Virginia was signed to Gig Records in 2000, only a couple years after moving to NJ from Missouri with her parents. She released her debut album, Sweet Conscience at the mere age of nineteen. At such a young age, her melodies and emotionally insightful lyrics showed that she had packed more experience into such a short time, than many artists do by the time they are well established. Virginia released a follow up six-song e.p. entitled Hush, in 2003, which included the track, On Your Own, written for the indie film, Never Among Friends by Jason Allentoff.
She since has spent time performing solo shows on tour with Chris Connelly of Ministry, Michael Ferentino, Kristjan and Andres Karu, as the Amazing Meet Project, previously of Dog/Love in Reverse signed to Reprise Records. Also included in the tour was Miles Hunt, of a well-known band out the U.K. called the Wonderstuff. Virginia has opened shows for national acts such as Tracy Chapman, Violent Femmes, and M. Doughty of Soul Coughing.
After recording her third album in 2006 with producer Andres Karu, and musicians Jack Casadone and Kristjan Karu, Virginia decided to hold off and release it under her own label. She then decided to inhabit a small duplex in Ft. Lauderdale, FL while writing the material for this memoir and songs for her fourth album. Upon the successful completion of songwriting and initial production of the new album, she moved to the Phoenix area with the intention of returning to the scene in a very courageous, altruistic way. Her double length album, «Hush Underground» , consisting of two discs, «10 Stones to Echoes Rolling» and «11 Calls to Train Station Radios», is now available for MP3 download at most major online music stores.vizualizați mai puține
