Dr Byrne is co-ordinator of the Irish Centre for Religious Education. He was the writer for the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the National Directory for Catechesis in Ireland, share the good news. As well as providing a variety of articles on religious education, he is author of religious education renewed: An overview of Developments in Post- Primary religious education (Dublin: veritas, 2005) and co-editor with Raymond Topley of nurturing children’s religious Imagination: Primary religious education today (Dublin: veritas, 2004). His most recent contribution is ‘Communicating Faith in Ireland: From Commitment, through Questioning to New Beginnings’, in communicating Faith, ed. by John Sullivan (Washington, DC: Catholic University of America Press, 2011).
