lumea tiinei

Nicola Tesla

spatiu, a inventat telecomanda si lampa fluorescenta, a realizat prima centrala
stapanul fulgerului.
Progresul omenirii depinde in mod vital de inventii. Tinta suprema este stapanirea materiei
cu ajutorul mintii, domesticirea fortelor naturii in folosul oamenirii.2
internetul fara cablu, telefonia mobil i chiar transmisia wireless a energiei electrice despre care
lansat de americani in Razboiul Rece.

Cum s-a ajuns aici?

Ten years after patenting a successful method for producing alternating

current, Nikola Tesla claimed the invention of an electrical generator that would not
consume any fuel. This invention has been lost to the public. Tesla stated about his
invention that he had harnessed the cosmic rays and caused them to operate a
motive device.
In total, Nikola Telsa was granted more than one hundred patents and invented
countless unpatented inventions. http://inventors.about.com/od/tstartinventions/a/Nikola_Tesla.htm

Tesla was a pioneer in many fields. The Tesla coil, which he invented in 1891, is widely
used today in radio and television sets and other electronic equipment. That year also
marked the date of Tesla's United States citizenship. His alternating current induction
motor is considered one of the ten greatest discoveries of all time. Among his discoveries
are the fluorescent light , laser beam, wireless communications, wireless transmission of
electrical energy, remote control, robotics, Teslas turbines and vertical take off aircraft.
Tesla is the father of the radio and the modern electrical transmissions systems. He
registered over 700 patents worldwide. His vision included exploration of solar energy
and the power of the sea. He foresaw interplanetary communications and satellites. http://www.teslasociety.com/biography.htm

Nicola Tesla simbolizeaz o putere i o inspiraie deosebit pentru toate naiunile n numele
pcii i al tiinei. El a fost un adevarat profet printre contemporanii si in domeniul
dezvolatarii stiintifice.

inventatorul propriilor dispozitive casnice.
Tesla a a acceptat oferta de a lucra pentru Thomas Edison in New York. Visul copilariei sale a
productiv trind in New York.
produsele companiei. Astfel c, i s-a oferit s reproiecteze complet toate generatoarele de
curent continuu ale companiei lui Edison.4

Tesla astonished the world by demonstrating. the wonders of

alternating current electricity at the World Columbian Exposition in
Chicago in 1893. Alternating current became standard power in the 20th
Century. This accomplishment changed the world. He designed the first
hydroelectric powerplant in Niagara Falls in 1895, which was the final
victory of alternating current. The achievement was covered widely in
the world press, and Tesla was praised as a hero world wide. King
Nikola of Montenegro conferred upon him the Order of Danilo. http://www.teslasociety.com/biography.htm

The Electrical Review in 1896 published X-rays of a man, made by Tesla,

with X-ray tubes of his own design. They appeared at the same time as
when Roentgen announced his discovery of X-rays. Tesla never
attempted to proclaim priority. Roentgen congratulated Tesla on his
sophisticated X-ray pictures, and Tesla even wrote Roentgen's name on
one of his films. He experimented with shadowgraphs similar to those
that later were to be used by Wilhelm Rontgen when he discovered Xrays in 1895. Tesla's countless experiments included work on a carbon
button lamp, on the power of electrical resonance, and on various types
of lightning. Tesla invented the special vacuum tube which emitted
light to be used in photography. http://www.teslasociety.com/biography.htm

In 1896 Tesla constructed an instrument to receive radio waves. He

experimented with this device and transmitted radio waves from his
laboratory on South 5th Avenue. to the Gerlach Hotel at 27th Street in
Manhattan. The device had a magnet which gave off intense magnetic
fields up to 20,000 lines per centimeter. The radio device clearly
establishes his piority in the discovery of radio.

Viata personala

Mnca singur
si dormea puin, dormind cam 2 ore pe zi. A ramas necstorit i susinea c stilul su de via
fructe.5

Tesla the Scientific Rival

Although Tesla and Edison shared a mutual respect for one another, at least at first,
Tesla challenged Edisons claim that current could only flow in one direction (DC,
direct current). Tesla claimed that energy was cyclic and could change direction (AC,
alternating current), which would increase voltage levels across greater distances
than Edison had pioneered.

merge doar ntr-o singur direcie. Tesla a afirmat ca curentul este ciclic i i poate

5 http://www.biographyonline.net/scientists/nikola-tesla.html

In 1888, Tesla s-a dus sa lucreze pentru Westinghouse, pentru a dezvolta sistemul curentului
alternativ.
Edison a alimentat acea fric

In 1893, Westinghouse outbid Edison in lighting up the Columbian Exposition in

Chicago, which allowed Westinghouse and Tesla to show the public the marvels and
advantages of electric light and appliances via alternating current. This demonstration
of alternating current convinced J.P. Morgan, an American investor who had originally
financed Edison, to back Westinghouse and Tesla in their design for the first
hydroelectric power plant inNiagara Falls.
Built in 1895, the new hydroelectric power plant transmitted an amazing twenty miles
away. Large AC generating stations (using dams on large rivers and power lines)
would eventually link across the nation and become the type of power supplied to
homes today

miracolul i avantajele luminii electrice cu ajutorul curentului alternativ.
sponsoriza pe Edison, s-i implice pe Westinghouse i Tesla in proiectarea prima

Tesla si-a reluat experimentele.
Prietenii
sai formau elita New York-ului: John Jacob Astor, William K. Vanderbilt si scriitorul Mark
Twain.

Dar, in ciuda charismei sale, Tesla era

Using the money he received from Westinghouse, Tesla founded the Tesla Electric Company in New York. Here,
he invested time and money creating exotic new electric devices, including the Tesla coil.
Tesla's biographer
O'Neill reported the untenable story (which was echoed by subsequent biographers) that among these devices
was a fist-sized vibrator which was capable up setting up resonances and creating a man-made earthquake. In
any case, Tesla's lab burnt to the ground of March 13, 1895. Everything was lost, as Tesla had no insurance.

Tesla the Scientific Inventor

Winning the "War of Currents," Tesla sought a way to make the world wireless. In
1898, Tesla demonstrated a remote-controlled boat at the Madison Square Garden
Electrical Exhibition. The following year, Tesla moved his work to Colorado Springs,
Colorado, in order to construct a high voltage/high frequency tower for the U.S.
government. The goal was to develop a wireless transmission of energy using the
vibrating waves of the earth to generate unlimited power and communications.
Through this work he lit 200 lamps without wires from a distance of 25 miles and shot
man-made lightning into the atmosphere using a Tesla coil, a transformer antenna he
had patented in 1891.
In December of 1900, Tesla returned to New York and began work on a WorldSystem of wireless transmissions intended to link up the worlds signal stations
(telephone, telegraph, etc.). The backing investor, J.P. Morgan, who had financed the
Niagara Falls project, terminated the contract upon learning that it would be free
wireless electricity for all to tap into.

Death and Missing Papers

On January 7, 1943, Tesla died at the age of 86 of coronary thrombosis in his bed at
the Hotel New Yorker where he resided. Tesla, who had never married, had spent his
life creating, inventing, and discovering. Upon his death, he held over 700 patents,
which included the modern electric motor, remote control, wireless transmission of
energy, basic laser and radar technology, the first neon and fluorescent illumination,

the first x-ray photographs, the wireless vacuum tube, the air-friction speedometer for
automobiles, and the Tesla coil (widely used in radio, television sets, and other
electronic equipment).
In addition to all that Tesla created, he also had many ideas that he didn't have time
to finish. Some of these ideas included massive weapons. In a world still immersed in
World War II and that was just beginning to split into East vs. West, ideas of massive
weapons were coveted. After Tesla's death, the FBI seized Tesla's belongings and
notebooks.
It is thought that the U.S. government used the information from Tesla's notes to work on
building beam weapons after the war. The government set up a secret project, called "Project
Nick," which tested the feasibility of "death rays," but the project was eventually shut down
and the results of their experiments were never published. Tesla's notes used for this project
also seem to have been "lost" before the rest of his notes were sent back to Yugoslavia in
1952 and placed in a museum. http://history1900s.about.com/od/people/a/Tesla.htm

Nikola Tesla was one of the most celebrated personalities in the American press, in this
century. According to Life Magazine's special issue of September, 1997, Tesla is among
the 100 most famous people of the last 1,000 years. He is one of the great men who
divert the stream of human history. Tesla's celebrity was in its height at the turn of the
century. His discoveries, inventions and vision had widespread acceptance by the public,
the scientific community and American press. Tesla's discoveries had extensive coverage
in the scientific journals, the daily and weekly press as well as in the foremost literary
and intellectual publications of the day. He was the Super Star.
Tesla wrote many autobiographical articles for the prominent journal Electrical
Experimenter, collected in the book, My Inventions. Tesla was gifted with intense powers
of visualization and exceptional memory from early youth on. He was able to fully
construct, develop and perfect his inventions completely in his mind before committing
them to paper.
According to Hugo Gernsback, Tesla was possessed of a striking physical
appearance over six feet tall with deep set eyes and a stately manner. His impressions of
Tesla, were of a man endowed with remarkable physical and mental freshness, ready to
surprise the world with more and more inventions as he grew older. A lifelong bachelor
he led a somewhat isolated existence, devoting his full energies to science.
