ANDREI NĂSTASE

Andrei Năstase is a Moldovan opposition and civil society leader and Chairman of the Dignity and Truth
Platform Party (Platform DA), which grew out of the ongoing anti-corruption grassroots movement
in Moldova, calling for a genuine pro-European political alternative. Platform DA’s popular protests rail
against the country's oligarchic political system. Mr. Năstase ran for President of Moldova in the 2016
elections, but famously withdrew his candidacy to support a joint candidate of the anti-oligarchic
opposition, a first in Moldova’s independent history. He is also the elected Chairman of the Great National
Assembly Council (CMAN) – a group of prominent journalists, artists, political analysts and other public
figures who work to provide a strategic framework for peaceful protest in the country. Mr. N ăstase is a
former prosecutor, lawyer, and university lecturer.

Born on August 6th, 1975, in Mândrești, Telenești district, Moldova. Married and has three children.

EDUCATION
1993 – 1997 Law at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania.

1992 – 1993 History and Geography at the Ștefan cel Mare University of
Suceava, Romania.
1982 – 1992 Middle School of Mândrești, Moldova.

Dec 2015 – present Chairman of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (Platforma
DA/PDA). The Dignity and Truth Platform Party, which grew out of
the ongoing anti-corruption grassroots movement in Moldova,
calls for a pro-European political alternative. The Party's popular
protests rail against the country's oligarchic political system.

Sep 2015 – present President of the Great National Assembly Council (CMAN), a
group of prominent journalists, artists, political analysts and
other public figures, who work to provide a strategic framework
for peaceful protest in Moldova.
Nov 2015 – Feb 2016 Chairman of the 2015 Republican Referendum Initiative
Group, aiming to amend the Constitution in terms of direct
election and dismissal of the president by the people, limiting
parliamentary immunity and the number of deputies from 101
2002 – 2015 Lawyer at Biroul Avocatului Andrei Năstase in Moldova.
2000 – 2002 Vice Director at Air Moldova, a Moldovan-German joint venture.

1999 – 2002 Lecturer, Head of Dept. at the Academy of Music, Theatre and
Fine Arts in Chișinău, Moldova.
1997 – 2000 Prosecutor at the Transport Prosecution, Moldova.

• Licensed lawyer since November 15th 2002.
• Developed draft laws that were analyzed and positively commented on by the Constitutional Court.
