Glass SofTop repair

Ok Here is the deal, after making 100's of calls and asking service centers and
"professional convertivle repair shops" no one seems to have the answer (or pro's
don't want to tell) I tried several adhesives without any luck, and finally something
worked 100% and cures in less than five minutes, best of all is inexpensive and it's
available at wally world or any hooby or arts and crafts store..........................what is
it? !!A HOT GLUE GUN!!.... it bonds glass to canvas, cloth or whatever you want to
call the convertible top material like crazy, clean up you may ask? just use a hot air
gun and it cleans in an instant I fixed my 1998 corvette soft top for under 20 bucks,
I hope this works for you as it worked for me!....
1.Clean surface, unlock the top and place a 2" spacer to relieve stress on window
interface.
2.Apply thin coat of 3M Glass Primer [08682 or 08681] to the glass area to be glued
-10 min dry time.
3.Apply 3/16" bead of 3M Windo-Weld adhesive 10.5 oz tube [08609] over primer Press the surface of the top around the window to provide a good contact and
extrude excess adhesive.
4.Prop up the window from inside the car to provide good contact between the glass
and top - this is important. I also placed some duct tape in a few locations at the
window top interface to assist in holding the top to glass. Cover top to protect from
rain - leave top unlocked with spacer.
5. I let it cure for 3 days because of my outdoor weather conditions, but the curing
conditions [Temp/RH] can be found on the 3M Web Site.
6. Carefully clean excess adhesive with razor blade. 7. Cost about $25.

de reparaii convertivle profesionist", nimeni nu pare a avea rspunsul (sau Pro nu
vreau s spun) Am ncercat de mai multe adezivi fr nici un noroc, i n cele din
urm ceva a lucrat 100% i n mai puin de cinci minute,.................... ...... ceea ce
este ea? ! Un HOT pistol de lipit! .... Se leag de sticl, pentru a colecta, o crp sau
orice dorii s apelai materialul de sus convertibile ca un nebun, curat s-ar putea
ntreba? folosi doar un pistol cu aer cald i se cur ntr-o clip am fixat mea 1998

4.Prop sus a ferestrei din interiorul mainii pentru a asigura un contact bun intre
sticla si de sus - acest lucru este important. Am pus, de asemenea, nite band
izolatoare n cteva locuri la interfaa fereastra de sus destinate susinerii de sus a

This 3M 08609 Window-Weld Super Fast Urethane Black window adhesive is VERY
STRONG and works well if the area is prepared correctly. Follow these instructions
for excellent results.
1. Thoroughly clean the bonding surface. If you are replacing glass, remove ALL
existing sealant.
2. If bonding surface is bare metal, prime with 3M 08608 Super Fast Urethane
Primer.
3. Clean glass surface with 3M 08968 Glass Cleaner.
4. Prime glass surface with 3M 08608 Super Fast Urethane Primer. This primer
provides UV protection for urethane adhesive and is a must for windshields or rear
windows that do not cover bonding surface with black/ceramic coating. This step is
optional if the bonding surface will be covered by black/ceramic coating on the
glass.
5. Apply a quarter-inch (0.25") bead of 3M 08609 Window-Weld Super Fast
Urethane Black to either bonding surface or to glass (whichever is easiest) and
press glass into final position.
6. Cleanup adhesive using 3M 08984 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner or 3M
08986 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner.
7. Allow forward facing glass (windshields) and side glass to cure for 12-24 hours.
Allow rear facing glass (rear view windows) to cure for 24-48 hours. Adhesive takes
longer to cure in low humidity (e.g. 25% RH).
