Prezentarea cursului/Rezumatul cursului: Manualul Current Issues. (Expanding Communication) se
adreseaz studenilor din anul I, Facultatea de Relaii Internaionale i Studii Europene, Universitatea
Spiru Haret. Temele tratate n aceast carte acoper o larg palet de subiecte cotidiene: Globalization,
Society, The Living Planet, Cities, Towns and Villages, Foreign Countries, Crime and Law, Politics,
Business and Money, Sports and Entertainment.
Cartea este structurat pe 13 Units (unul pentru fiecare curs), iar Unit 14 (Revision) conine
exerciii recapitulative, tip gril, care testeaz att vocabulatul acumulat n timpul cursurilor (cuvinte
specializate, expresii idiomatice, cuvinte mrumutate), ct i probleme de gramatic explicate i discutate
n timpul seminariilor (timpurile modului indicativ, diateza pasiv, propoziia condiional, vorbirea
indirect, numrul substantivelor, articolul, adjectivul).
Datorit structurii exerciiilor (gap filling, matching, choosing the right word or grammar structure,
rephrase), manualul apare sub forma unui instrument de lucru utilizat de ctre studeni att la orele de
seminar ct i acas (homework- translations).
De asemenea, la sfritul crii sunt adugate Anexe ce conin termeni specifici Uniunii Europene:
abrevieri i acronime, diferene dintre engleza american i cea britanic, aspecte ale structurilor politice
specifice guvernelor american, englez i romn (EURO Acronyms, Abbreviations, Television Style,
Newspapers Words, Country, Capital, Language, Nationality and Currency, Politics (The British
