Islamul este o religie monoteist, fiind a doua din lume ca numr de adepi, dup cretinism.

Sensul
general al cuvntului islam este pace i supunere fa de Alah, creatorul tuturor lucrurilor (n oarecare
msur, la fel ca la cretini). Religia a fost fondat n secolul al VII-lea, pe teritoriul Arabiei Saudite, de
ctre profetul Muhammad, iar cartea sfnt poart numele de Coran (cum este Biblia pentru cretini).
Musulmanii cred cu trie c Muhammad este ultimul profet i mesager al lui Alah (dei nu exist nicio
referire la vreo relaie de rudenie ntre Alah i Muhammad, l putem asemna n oarecare msur cu
Iisus).
Lsnd la o parte religia n sine, trebuie menionat faptul c tratamentul inuman la care sunt supuse
majoritatea femeilor musulmane nu izvorte doar din convingeri religioase. Este adevrat c legea i
codul civil din rile islamice au la baz nvturile din Coran, dar aceste legi au fost fcut de oameni,
sunt bazate pe realitatea cultural din acele zone ale lumii, dar cei care le-au gndit probabil au avut
oarecare nclinaii bolnave.
Situaii absurde
n rile islamice, dac o femeie ntreine relaii sexuale cu un brbat cu care nu este mritat, aceasta
comite un pcat fa de Alah, un pcat suprem. Pedeapsa este 100 de lovituri de bici, n public. Desigur,
n majoritatea cazurilor, pedeapsa la care femeia este supus este extraordinar de crud, aceasta fiind
omort n public cu pietre. Acelai lucru se ntmpl i dac femeia acuz un brbat c a violat-o, dar nu
are martori pentru a-i susine acuzaia. Cteva ri islamice i permit unui violator s scape de pedeaps
prin lege, dac se nsoar cu victima (evident, n cazul n care femeia violat are martori pentru a dovedi
fapta).
Femeia este considerat de dou ori mai puin inteligent dect un brbat, motiv pentru care, n cele mai
multe cazuri, o singur persoan de gen feminin nu este considerat de justiia islamic drept martor;

practici culturale, chiar dac s-au transmis ncepnd cu secolul al VII-lea, ci sunt scrise negru pe alb,
liter de lege. Majoritatea cazurilor n care o femeie este acuzat de un lucru se definitiveaz nu n
favoarea acesteia. Brbaii musulmani primesc amenzi de circulaie dac fac greeli n trafic. n schimb,
femeile primesc 100 de lovituri de bici doar dac conduc.

Introducere
Pentru noi, femeile moderne din secolul XXI, libertatea este ceva cu care ne nastem, ceva
de la sine inteles. De multe ori insa uitam ca nu a fost asa mereu si ca pentru unele din noi
inca nu este. Libertaea femeilor si presupusa lor egalitate a fost dobandita cu greu de-a
lungul timpului. Noi spunem ca ne-am modernizat si prin urmare este normal sa fim libere
ca si barbatii, insa exista si tari in care egalitatea sexelor nu este decat un ideal la care
multe femei viseaza.
In tarile arabe de exemplu, unde modernismul nu a distrus gandirea arhetipala, femeile inca
se confrunta cu discriminarea si cu diferite restrictii ale drepturilor. Majoritatea problemelor
acestora nu au originea in religie asa cum se crede desi si acest factor joaca un rol
important, ci mai mult provin din traditii. In aceste tari in care a fost subimat statutul de
persoana al femeilor a fost suprimata si libertatea presei, libertatea expresiei, libertatea de
formare a organizatiilor si multe altele. Conform definitiilor din Managementul diversitatii in
relatiile de munca discriminarea implica sa: faci diferente intre personae, grupuri si
comunitati in dezavantajul unora dintre acestea; sa excluzi anumite persoane, grupuri si
comunitati de la activitati, beneficii si drepturi conferite de lege; sa restrictionezi unor
persoane, grupuri si comunitati drepturi si libertati conferite de lege etc.[1]Problema este
ce in unele tari arabe nu exista astfel de legi.
Un dezavantaj major este faptul ca multe din femei pur si simplu au acceptat situatia asa
cum este si nici nu se mai lupta pentru drepturile lor. In mare parte acest lucru se poate

datora si presiunii la care sunt supuse atat din interior, din familie cat si din exterior din
partea societatii. Frica este un factor foarte potent si greu de invins Adevarul este ca nu in
toate tarile sunt rau tratate sau fara educatie. Sunt si femei care desi sunt considerate
inferioare barbatilor si sunt lipsite de mai multe drepturi sunt tratate frumos si pretuite. Nu
situ insa care este proccentul din mare masa de femei nedreptatie carora li se aplica acest
lucru.
Tot citind si cautand informatii despre viata femeilor arabe am dat peste anumite declaratii
si povesti socante ale unor femei care au suferit o drama din cauza faptului ca in multe tari
arabe nu exista legi care sa le apere. Dar nimeni nu te poate ajuta daca nu vrei sa fii ajutat.
Multi dintre noi nu iau in considerare posibilitatea ca poate ele nu vor sa fie salvate. Este cat
se poate de clar ca intre cultura noastra si cea araba exista diferente fundamentale si
practice asa cum noi credem ca femeile in societatea lor sunt degradata, asa sustin si ei
despre femeile moderne. Cred ca avand in vedere ca mentalitatea nu s-a schimbat de
foarte mult timp si generatii intregi de femei au fost crescute de mici in acest sistem, unele
nu vor ca ceva sa se schimbe. Exista si cei care se asigura ca populatia nu isi doreste
schimbarea prin diferite metode persuasive.
Informatii
Chiar daca traim in secolul al 20-lea, unde femeile au drepturi egale cu barbatii,
discriminarea este inca prezenta, mai ales in orientul mijlociu si Africa de Nord, in special
tarile arabe/musulmane. Aceste tari inca folosesc Coranul nu doar ca un ghid in viata, asa
cum ar fi trebuit, dar si ca un cod de legi. Insa nu toti inteleg cu adevarat sensul cuvintelor
scrise din Coran care lasa loc la interpretare. Pentru ca in Coran exista fragmente in care
femeia este, intentionat sau neintentionat, considerata inferioara barbatului. Din cauza
aceasta, in unele tari musulmane precum Bahrain, Arabia Saudita, Oman, Libia si Egipt
femeile au pierdut unele drepturi pe care cei din occident le considera necesare intr-o era in
continuu dezvoltare.
De exemplu, in Arabia Saudita femeile nu au voie sa conduca o masina sau sa mearga pe
bicicleta. Deasemenea un barbat nu are voie sa aibe in masina femei care nu ii sunt rude
apropiate. Din cauza acestei legi, conducerea autobuzului de scoala este o problema majora.
Din acest motiv, barbatii sunt elsi de guvern si sunt considerati oameni de incredere.
In multe tari, femeile nu au drepturi egale cand vine vorba de divort. Pe cand barbatii pot
diorta usor, adesea pe cale verbala doar, femeile trebuie sa treaca prin obstacole financiare
si legale care sunt de neinvins. In Liban, femeile maltratate de sotii acestora nu pot depune
cerere de divort pentru abuz daca nu au un martor ocular care sa confirme ca aceasta a fost
batuta( un certificat medical care sa sustina abuzul fizic nu este suficient). Iar femeile care

vor sa divorteze in Egipt, fara o caua anume, trebuie sa renunte la orice drept asupra
bunurilor materiale ale cuplului si sa plateasca zestrea pe care aceasta a primit-o.
Accesul la educatie este deasemenea restrictionat femeilor in anumite tari. In Afghanistan
fetele nu mai au voie sa mearga la scoala odata ce ajung la pubertate deoarce guvernul nu
poate garanta ca fetele v-or ramane nevatamate. Deoarece profesoarele nu au voie sa
predea in scoli, iar barbatii nu au voie sa invete o fata care ajunge la pubertate, in
Afghanistan doar 18% din fete stiu sa citeasca.
In unele tari si dreptul de a calatori trebuie sa indeplineasca niste reguli cand vine vorba
despre o femeie. Barbatii din Egipt si Bahrain pot semna un act oficial, care este transmis
aeropoartelor prin care le interzice sottilor acestora sa paraseasca tara fara a da un motiv
intemeiat. In Irak, Libia, Iordania, Maroc, Oman si Yemen, femeile au nevoie de permisiunea
sotiilor acestora pentru a para tara si pot fi impiedicate sa plece daca sotul nu este de acord.
Iar in Arabia Saudita femeile trebuie sa obtina permisiunea scrisa a celui mai apropiata
persoana de sex masculin pentru a parasi tara sau a folosi mijloacele de transport in comun.
Violenta in aceste state arabe/musulmane nu este considerata o problema a statului. Din
cauza aceasta, multe fete care au fost maltratate si se duc a politie pentru a depune o
plangere sunt trimise acasa. Deasemenea, in cazul unui viol, barbatul poate scapa de
acuzari daca acesta este de acord sa se casatoreasca cu victima.
In unele tari, ura pentru femei sunt duse la extrem: pruncii de sex feminin sunt avortati
odata ce se stie sexul acestora sau sunt ucise la nastere sau la scurt timp dupa aceasta.

Egipt este ara arab cu cele mai rele condiii n ceea ce privete
drepturile femeilor, potrivit unui sondaj recent.
Hruirea sexual, practicarea mutilrii genitale, rspndirea grupurile
islamiste radicalizate, promulgarea unor legi discriminatorii i realitatea
tot mai ngrijortoare a traficului de persoane au fcut ca Egiptul s fie
vzut drept ara n care este cel mai dificil s fii femeie, potrivit
sondajului realizat de Thomson Reuters Foundation, citat de BBC.
n Egipt exist localiti ntregi, n apropierea capitalei, a cror
economie se bazeaz exclusiv pe traficul de carne vie i pe cstoriile

de convenien (o form de prostituie islamic), spune Zahra

Radwan, reprezentant al ONG-ului Global Fund for Women. Totui
factorul care a determinat plasarea Egiptului pe ultimul loc n ceea ce
privete condiia i drepturile femeilor nu a fost traficul, ci hruirea
sexual. Un raport ONU, din aprilie, releva faptul c 99,3% dintre
femei i fete, n Egipt, au fost obiectul unei hruiri sexuale, cel puin o
dat. Hruirea sexual afecteaz femeile egiptene indiferent de
vrst, poziie economic sau social, stare civil sau alte aspecte,
potrivit lui Noora Flinkman de la grupul HarassMap.
Irak este alt ar n care condiiile de via ale femeilor sunt rele, fiind
a doua n acest clasament, dup Egipt, urmat de Arabia Saudit,
Siria i Yemen. Potrivit sondajului, Irakul este mai periculos acum,
pentru femei, dect era pe vremea lui Saddam Hussein. Arabia
Saudit are deficiene la capitolul implicrii femeilor n viaa politic, la
cel al discriminrii la locul de munc, la cel al libertii de circulaie i
n ceea ce privete drepturile la proprietate. ns, Irak a obinut
rezultate mai bune dect multe alte ri arabe n ceea ce privete
accesul la educaie i la serviciile medicale, drepturile n ceea ce
privete reproducerea i violena de gen.
La polul opus se afl Insulele Comoros, unde 20% dintre femei ocup
poziii ministeriale, urmate de Oman, Kuwait, Iordania i Qatar.
La studiu au participat mai bine de 330 de experi din 22 de ri arabe,
experi crora li s-a cerut s evalueze aspecte precum violena
mpotriva femeilor, drepturile lor n ceea ce privete reproducerea,

tratamentul pe care l primesc n cadrul familiei i rolul acestora n

viaa politic i n economie.
Opinia c violrile drepturilor femeilor de ctre brbai sunt inevitabile sau
naturale, conduce la o vedere ngust i pesimist a posibilitilor brbailor.
Practica discriminrilor mpotriva femeilor afecteaz i statutul brbailor,
ntruct considerarea femeilor de ctre acetia numai din perspectiv
funcional nseamn reducerea relaiilor dintre brbai i femei la aceast
perspectiv i, prin urmare, plasarea brbailor pe o treapt ontologicinferioar[15]. Mai mult, n acord cu Mihaela Miroiu, consider c dac o
persoan (femeie sau brbat) este contient de existena discriminrilor de
gen ar trebui s fie mcar simpatetic apropiat de feminism, ori de una din
formele sale, asta n situaia n care fora tradiiei, conservarea prejudecilor
sau postura social extrem de convenabil n care mprejurrile vieii s-a

leza confortul propriei imagini[16].

Most scholars today agree that women internationally step by step became second rate citizens and lost all
their power, autonomy, independence, rights and consistently assigned a passive role in the society as
soon as Abrahamic religions (Judaism,Christianity, and especially Islam) became widespread. The
gendering of those religions is oppressively male . The creator in Genesis is presented as an Old Male
Sovereign Outsider who relate to the world by way of command. It is a male story of power, a story of
hierarchical command and control. Religious discrimination against women is still alive and thriving! The
texts of the Torah, Bible and Quran preach discrimination against women, degradation and subjugation of
women, and even violence against women! They teach that women are not only inferior, but also must
obey men, because God tells us that men are their masters.
The texts of these so-called holy books systematically ensure a second-class status for women! And all
these things are forced upon us by a Loving God, and preached by the prophets of this very same
Loving God. Jews, Christians, and Muslims all berate women for causing humanity to be driven out of
paradise. As a result of the original sin of the first woman, people lost the gift of immortality, had to work
hard to find food, and were no longer blessed with the ability to interact directly with God Genesis, chapter 3. The
fault of this first and original sin rests heavily upon the shoulders of womankind, justifying all manner of
religion-justified nastiness directed against them.
The Quran tells the followers of Islam that women are inferior to men, and require punishment for
even suspected disobedience...

Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because
they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in
secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and
banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo!
Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great. Quran 4:34
This verse in the Quran has done more than any other to justify discrimination against women, to justify
their inferior position, as well as actually encouraging violence against women.

As mentioned earlier religious discrimination against women is still alive and thriving even today, in the
21st century! This prayer is said every morning by many fundamentalist Jewish men around the world and
it is just one of many examples to show the hierarchical command and control of Abrahamic religions.
Women here are viewed as inferior as Slaves and God is portrayed as a Sovereign Male King of the
Universe.

This short list above is just a sampling of the Bible verses that either instruct or illustrate proper
relationships between men and women.
Fundamentalists believe that the texts of Torah, Bible and Quran is the literally perfect word of the
Almighty, essentially dictated by God to the writers. To believe that these holy books is the literally
perfect word of God is to believe that women are tainted seductresses who must be controlled by men.

Traditional rules that govern male-female relationships are grounded more in property rights than
civil rights. Men essentially have ownership of women, whose lives are scripted to serve an endbearing
offspring. It is very important to men that they know whose progeny they are raising, so sexual morality
has focused primarily on controlling womens sex activity and maintaining their purity and value as
assets. Traditional gender roles and rules evolved on the presumption that women dont have control over
their fertility. In other words, modern contraception radically changed a social compact that had existed
for literally thousands of years.
Some people dont welcome change. Modern scholars now challenge such fundamentals as a
historical Adam and the special status that Abrahams God gave to straight males. Fundamentalists are
fighting desperately to hang on to certainties and privileges they once saw as an Abrahamic birthright. If
they cant keep women in line; its all over. The future ends up in the hands of cultural creatives, scientists,
artists, inquiring minds, and girls. Its horrifying.
