ROMBET v prezint un nou episod din seria dedicat Jocului Responsabil

Gambling Londra - ntlnirea
responsabililor... cu jocul responsabil
n calitate de partener, Rombet a participat cu o delegaie
condus de Dan Iliovici, director executiv, la conferina WrB
Responsible Gambling & Reputation Management organizat la
Londra, pe 10 septembrie. A fost singura prezen romneasc
de la acest eveniment important.
Principalele subiecte abordate au fost: viitorul jocului responsabil n lumina noilor condiii legale i de liceniere (inclusiv din
Romnia), armonizarea practicilor i eticii jocului responsabil la
nivelul industriei, standardizarea
normelor de auto-excludere la nivel pan-european, crearea unui
mediu sustenabil de afaceri n industria jocurilor de noroc.
Una dintre cele mai dezbtute teme a fost sustenabilitatea
domeniului i modul n care jocul responsabil poate contribui
la acest proces.
Sub excelenta moderare a lui
Pieter Remmers una dintre cele mai autorizate voci ale acestui
domeniu, care este deja cunoscut i mediului de afaceri din Romnia participanii au ajuns la
concluzia c principalul rol l joac
operatorii: ei sunt cei care trebuie
s se ngrijoreze privind efectele
negative ale jocurilor de noroc,
ei trebuie s acioneze i s fac
mai mult, ei trebuie s participe
activ la crearea i mbuntirea
programelor de joc responsabil.
A fost dat exemplul industriei
auto din anii 60, cnd li s-a cerut productorilor s mbunteasc sigurana mainilor. Fabricanii auto au fost cei care au
fcut cercetri, experimente, teste (Euro NCAP), i au reuit s re-

The main topics on the agenda were: the future of responsible

gambling in the light of the new
legal and licensing conditions (including in Romania), the harmonization of the practices and ethics
of responsible gambling at the industrys level, standardization of
auto-exclusion norms on pan-Eu-

ropean level, creation of a sustainable business environment in the

gambling industry.
One of the most debated topics was the sustainability of the
field and the way in which responsible gambling can contribute to
this process. Under the excellent
moderation of Pieter Remmers
one of the most authorized voices in this field, who is already
known to the Romanian business
environment as well the participants came to the conclusion
that the operators play the main
part: they are the ones who should be worried about the negative effects of gambling, they should act and do more, they should
participate actively in the creation
and improvement of responsible
gambling programs.
The example of the auto industry in the 60s was given, when the
producers were asked to improve
cars safety. The auto producers
made the researches, experiments
and tests (Euro NCAP) and managed to create safer cars. The public, the mass-media didnt know
the field as the people in the industry did. The same should happen in the case of gambling, the
participants said out loud.
I felt the international industry extremely willing to take part in
responsible gambling programs.

Reprezentantul Asociaiei Organizatorilor de Jocuri de Noroc
a remarcat c n Marea Britanie,
la fel ca n Romnia, exist o atitudine negativ a publicului fa
de jocurile de noroc. Programele
de tip joc responsabil, transparena, discuiile dintre reprezentanii industriei i public (mass-media, autoriti, cei afectai de jocurile de noroc familiile lor), ar

nevoie, n schimb, de dialog, de
colaborare. Dac nu avem ncredere unii in alii, lucrurile nu vor
funciona. Nici n programele de
tip joc responsabil, nici n industria jocurilor de noroc, per ansamblu, subliniaz Dan Iliovici.
Evenimentul de la Londra a
fost un succes: a reuit s aduc n prim plan i s supun unor
dezbateri extrem de constructive, toate progresele fcute n
domeniu la nivel european i a
pus punctul pe i n cazul celor
mai spinoase subiecte legate
de jocul responsabil i responsabilitatea social a industriei gamblingului.

But its a long way

from willing to acting and there are
quite enough obstacles. For instance, there are still
researches being
made to explain
how we can distinguish between
gambling as entertainment and gambling with a negative potential, which could harm
players and/or society. Studying
the behavior of players at risk,
or of those with gambling problems, can be made by the operators of such games only the
industry (and especially the online gambling industry) has access to the statistics concerning
the players, and the data is very
difficult, if not impossible, to aggregate and analyze. We cannot
quantify at this point the negative effect produced by gambling
in the society with so little accurate data this is a challenge
for the gambling field, says Dan
Iliovici, CEO of Rombet.
The representative of the
Gambling Organizers Association noticed that in Britain, the same as in Romania, there is a negative attitude of the public about
gambling. The responsible gambling type programs, transparency, discussions between the representatives of the industry and
the public (mass-media, authorities, those affected by gambling
their families), could change that.
Wanda Goldwag, president and
commissioner for the independent states of The Senet Group,
stated clearly: if the gambling in-

dustry doesnt play responsibly, others will come who will take our business a reference to
the possible restrictive laws, adopted under the pressure of public opinion. A good reputation
of the industry will have a positive influence on attracting good specialists in IT, finances, accounting, etc., as well as keeping
them in the companies they work
for, added Goldwag.
Another aspect marked by the
participants was the inflation
of voices who undertake the position of spokespersons of the
industry, which is harmful to the
unity of this field. The Rombet
position was a very clear one, and
it has been expressed repeatedly by the president of the association, Mr. Dan Alexandru Ghi:
at least in the field of responsible
gambling we should understand
that we all have common interests, that associations arent in
any kind of competition. What we
need, instead, is dialogue, collaboration. If we dont trust each
other, things wont work. Neither
in the responsible gambling programs, nor in the gambling industry, as a whole, points out
Dan Iliovici.
The event in London was a
succes: it managed to bring forth
and to subject to extremely constructive debates all the progresses made in this field at European
level and nailed on the head the
most thorny issues about the
responsible gambling and social responsibility of the gambling
industry.
