Folosim acest timp pentru a exprima aciuni care se repet cu anume regularitate sau sunt legi naturale. Se folosesc adverbe de timp care indic aceast ritmicitate. Aciuni care se ntmpl acum, n momentul vorbirii (around now). Este folosit pentru aciuni trecute (aciuni care au nceput n trecut i s-au terminat n trecut si nu mai au efect in prezent) Se folosete pentru a povesti. Verbe neregulate Se folosete pentru aciuni care au nceput n trecut i s-au terminat n trecut, dar care au durat. Este folosit pentru a indica concomitenta a doua actiuni sau o intrerupere a unei actiuni continue
