Exemple cu adjective

Clasificarea adjectivelor
Din punct de vedere al formării cuvintelor, adjectivele pot fi:
a. simple
warm cald
young tânăr
big mare
small mic
b. derivate
dark-haired brunet
unhappy nefericit
harmless inofensiv
c. compuse
homesick dornic de casă
well-balanced echilibrat
handmade lucrat manual
a. predicative
alive viu
awake treaz
asleep adormit
4. When I arrived home, the children were asleep. Când am ajuns acasă, copiii au adormit.
b. atributive
wooden lemnos
total întreg
simple simplu
3. I like very much wooden piece of furniture. Imi place foarte mult piesa de lemn al mobilei.
4. He is a simple cook at that corner fast-food. El este un simplu bucătar la acel colț de fast-food.
c. atât predicative cât și atributive
good bun
tall înalt
black negru
3. This slice of cake is good. Această felie de tort este bună
4. This is a good slice of cake. Aceasta este o felie bună de tort
Așa cum se observă din exemplele de mai sus, adjectivele nu respectă aceleași reguli de formare a gradelor de
comparație. Asfel, distingem două tipuri de formare a gradelor de comparație:
a. comparația sintetică
Comparativul de superioritate: adjectiv + terminația -er
Superlativul: the + adjectiv + terminația -est
și se folosește pentru:
adjectivele monosilabice:
sweet dulce - sweeter mai dulce - the sweetest cel mai dulce
tall înalt - taller mai înalt - the tallest cel mai înalt
big mare - bigger mai mare - the biggest cel mai mare
fine fin - finer mai fin - the finest cel mai fin
adjectivele bisilabice care se termină în -y (se transformă în -i), -ow, -er
happy fericit - happier mai fericit - the happiest cel mai fericit
narrow îngust - narrower mai îngust - the narrowest cel mai îngust
clever inteligent - cleverer mai inteligent - the cleverest cel mai inteligent
alte adjective bisilabice: quiet, , :
quiet liniştit - quieter mai liniştit - the quietest cel mai liniştit
common comun - commoner mai comun - the commonest cel mai comun
handsome frumos - handsome mai frumos - the handsomest cel mai frumos
b. comparația analitică
Comparativul de superioritate: more + adjectiv
Superlativul: the most + adjectiv
și se folosește pentru adjectivele plurisilabice:
interesting - more interesting mai interesant - the most interesting cel mai interesant
beautiful - more beautiful mai frumoasă - the most beautiful cel mai frumoasă
c. comparația neregulată
good bun - better mai bun - the best cel mai bun
bad rău - worse mai - the worst cel mai rău
IMPORTANT !!! - elder și the eldest sunt folosite numai ca adjective atributive atunci când este vorba de relații de
familie/grade de rudenie: my elder brother; the eldest of his aunts
IMPORTANT !!! - further are înțelesul de “mai mult”, “suplimentar”, “adițional” - further information
IMPORTANT !!!
