Unii autori moderni, lund n consideraie faptul c Matei a rupt orice legturi cu iudaismul, dateaz textul dup
cderea Ierusalimului, mai precis dup anul 85, deoarece
n acel an iudaismul ocial i-ar excomunicat pe cretini, lucru considerat de istorici drept simpl ipotez i nu Al doilea discurs: Matei 9:36-12:50.

Capitolele Matei cap. 11 i cap.
Autorul i comunitatea sa par s e n lupt pe dou fronturi: unul intern i altul extern.
i de aceea svresc nelegiuirea (Matei 7:23).
mpotriva acestora Matei face s valoreze continuitatea

of the Council of Jamnia is an hypothesis to explain the
canonization of the Writings (the third division of the Hebrew Bible) resulting in the closing of the Hebrew canon.
... These ongoing debates suggest the paucity of evidence
on which the hypothesis of the Council of Jamnia rests and
raise the question whether it has not served its usefulness and should be relegated to the limbo of unestablished
hypotheses. It should not be allowed to be considered a
consensus established by mere repetition of assertion.
