The concept of spirituality in general and Romanian spirituality, in particular, occupies an important place
in the Romanian philosophical thinking of the interwar period. It becomes the main focus of the generation
of thinkers from the beginning of the 20th century, especially of C. Rădulescu-Motru, as well as of the
young generation, which is actively manifested in the third and the fourth decades. In C. Rădulescu-
Motru’s conception, spirituality is a complex of ideas and feelings by which the society of an age justifies
its faith in a perfect and eternal order. The concept of „the new spirituality” is reflected in a series of
articles by Mircea Vulcănescu, which highlight some aspects of spirituality and depending on, some
various orientations of the young Romanian intellectuals from the interwar period.
