PRESENT SIMPLE

Timpul prezent este forma de bază a verbului:

e.g. I work in London. ( Eu lucrez în Londra )

La persoana a III-a singular ( she / he / it ), adăugăm un –s.

e.g. She works in London. ( Ea lucrează în Londra )

A. Present simple questions

Look at these questions:

 Do you play the piano?

 Where do you live?
 Does Jack play football?
 Where does he come from?
 Do Rita and Angela live in Manchester?
 Where do they work?

Folosim do și does pentru a formula întrebări cu present simple. Folosim does pentru persoana a
III-a singular ( she / he / it ) și do pentru celelalte.

Folosim do și does cu question words cum ar fi where ( unde? ), what ( ce? ) și when ( când? ).

e.g. Where do Angela and Rita live?

What does Angela do?

When does Rita usually get up?

Însă, întrebările cu who de cele mai multe ori nu se folosesc cu do sau does.

e.g. Who lives in London?

Who plays football at the weekend?

Who works at Liverpool City Hospital?

B. PRESENT SIMPLE NEGATIVES

Look at these sentences:

I like tennis but I don’t like football.

( don’t = do not )

I don’t live in London now.

I don’t play the piano but I play the guitar.

They don’t work at the weekend.

Johm doesn’t live in Manchester.

( doesn’t = does not )

Angela doesn’t drive to work. She goes by bus.

Folosim do și does pentru a construi forma negativă cu prezentul simplu ( present simple ).
Folosim doesn’t la persoana a III-a, singular ( she / he / it ) și don’t pentru celelalte.

C. PRESENT SIMPLE AND PRESENT TIME

Folosim present simple ( prezentul simplu ) pentru a vorbi despre:

 Ceva care este adevărat în prezent:

I’m nineteen years old.
I’m a student.
He lives in London.

* I’m => I am

  Ceva care se întâmplă regulat (zilnic) în prezent:
I play football every weekend.
 Ceva care este întotdeauna adevărat:
The human body contains 206 bones. ( Corpul uman conține 206 oase ).
The Earth spins around the Sun. ( Pământul se învârte în jurul soarelui ).

De obicei folosim adverbs of frecuency ( adverbe de timp ) precum: always, never cu present
simple ( prezentul simplu ):

I sometimes go to the cinema.

She never plays football.

De obicei folosim present simple ( prezentul simplu ) pentru a vorbi despre:
