This Diploma Supplement model was developed by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. The purpose of the supplement is to provide sufficient independent data about the holde, to improve the international transparency and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.). Informaii generale privind nvmntul superior
nvmntul superior universitar din Republica Moldova este organizat n universiti, academii i institute. nvmntul superior se realizeaz n instituii de stat i private. Admiterea n nvmntul superior universitar se face prin concurs, n baza atestatului de studii medii de cultur general, diplomei de bacalaureat, diplomei de studii medii de specialitate (colegiu), dup criterii generale stabilite de Ministerul Educaiei. Durata studiilor la nvmntul universitar este de 4-6 ani, n funcie de profil. Anul de studii n nvmntul universitar ncepe la 1 septembrie i are o durat de pn la 42 de sptmni, repartizate n dou semestre relativ egale, care include dou sesiuni de examene i stagiile de practic. Durata studiilor universitare pentru deintorii diplomei de bacalaureat sau a diplomei de studii medii de specialitate este de 4 ani, iar pentru absolvenii instituiilor de nvmnt mediu secundar general 5 ani. Studenii instituiilor de nvmnt superior universitar pot urma concomitent dou specialiti (specializri), prin susinerea probelor de admitere; pot face studii superioare n termene reduse, prin susinerea probelor prevzute de planul de nvmnt. Pentru absolvenii colegiilor, care i continu studiile n nvmntul universitar n cadrul profilului studiat iniial sau apropiat, termenul de studii poate fi redus cu un an. Activitatea didactic n nvmntul superior se organizeaz prin nvmnt de zi i nvmnt cu frecven redus. Durata studiilor n nvmntul cu frecven redus este mai mare cu un an fa de nvmntul de zi.. Nu se ofer studii cu frecven redus la urmtoarele specialiti: medicin, farmaceutic, medicin veterinar, psihologie, canto, arhitectura, coregrafie, limbi moderne i clasice. Studiile superioare se finalizeaz cu susinerea examenului de licen care include o prob de profil, o prob de specialitate i un proiect/teza de licen. nvmntul superior medical se ncheie cu susinerea examenului de absolvire i cu eliberarea diplomei de specialist. Diploma de licen se elibereaz dup absolvirea ciclului de rezideniat. Absolvenii care au promovat cele dou probe ale examenului de licen i au susinut teza de licen li se acord titlul de liceniat n profilul i la specialitatea urmat i li se elibereaz diploma de licen. Absolvenilor, care au promovat cele dou probe ale examenului de licen, dar nu au susinut teza de licen, li se elibereaz diploma de studii superioare universitare. Diploma de studii superioare universitare nu ofer acces la studii postuniversitare. Absolvenii care nu au promovat examenul de licen primesc, la solicitare, o adeverin. (www.edu.md)

General overview of higher education


Higher education programs are delivered through several types of higher education institutions: universities, institutes and academies. Higher education in the Republic of Moldova is provided by both state and private higher education institutions. The admission to higher education is organised by higher education institutions according to the general requirements established by the Ministry of Education. The admission is based on the following types of secondary school leaving certificates: Atestat de Studii Medii de Cultur General, Diplom de Bacalaureat, Diploma of secondary professional education (colleges). Usual length of higher-education study-programs varies from 4 to 6 years depending on a field of study. An academic year begins on the 1 of September and lasts up to 42 weeks. It is divided into two relatively equal semesters and includes periods of exams and of practical training. The length of higher education programme for holders of the diplomas of lyseum (Diplom de Bacalaureat) or of professional education is 4-year. Holders of the secondary school diploma (Atestat de Studii Medii de Cultur General) study 1+4-year educational programme. A student can simultaneously study two specialities by undergoing admission exams. A student may also study in parallel one other specialisation at the same higher education institution in which he/she studies his/her major. Students may study in reduced terms by passing examinations envisaged by study programs. For the graduates of secondary professional education institutions (colleges) continuing their studies in a higher education institution in the same or appropriate related field the length of study program can be one year shorter. Higher education institutions offer full-time and part-time courses in various fields of study. Specialities that are excluded for part-time studies are the following: medicine, pharmaceutics, veterinary medicine, psychology, canto, architecture, choreography, modern and classic languages. Part-time courses require one additional year of study. After successful completion of a higher education programme one of two kinds of diplomas is awarded: Diploma de studii superioare universitare or Diplom de Licen. Medical higher education finalizes by awarding of the diploma of specialist, Diploma of License is awarded after the cycle of rezideniat. The Diploma de studii superioare universitare is awarded after completion of a study programme, which doesnt include elaboration and defence of a final diploma thesis. This credential doesnt give access to further research activity as well as to Master studies. Diploma of licentiate (Diplom de Licen) is awarded to those graduates who have elaborated and presented the final Diploma thesis. The holders of the credential of Licentiate (equivalent with Bachelor) have access to muster and doctor studies. (www.edu.md)

n Republica Moldova nvmntul postuniversitar se realizeaz prin masterat, doctorat, postdoctorat, rezideniat, secundariat, cursuri de specializare i perfecionare. n nvmntul medical pregtirea postuniversitar prin rezideniat este obligatorie. Studiile de masterat asigur aprofundarea unei specializri dintr-un domeniu i realizarea activitii de cercetare individual. Admiterea la masterat se realizeaz de ctre instituiile de nvmnt superior. Durata studiilor la masterat este de 1-2 ani i se ncheie cu eliberarea diplomei i acordarea titlului de magistru. n nvmntul medical pregtirea postuniversitar se realizeaz prin rezideniat, internatur, masterat. Doctoratul se realizeaz prin activitate de cercetare tiinific, activitate profesional i creativ cu durat de 3 ani la cursurile de zi i de 4 ani la cursurile fr frecven. Criteriile de admitere, organizarea i desfurarea doctoratului sunt stabilite de Comisia Superioar de Atestare cu avizul Ministerului Educaiei, Tineretului i Sportului i ministerelor de resort. Doctoratul se ncheie cu susinerea public a unei teze n faa unui consiliu tiinific specializat, acreditat n acest scop, i prin conferirea titlului tiinific de doctor (n domeniul tiinific respectiv). Persoanele deintoare a titlul doctor n tiin pot urma studiile postdoctorale. Pentru obinerea titlului de doctor habilitat este necesar de a elabora i susine teza de doctor habilitat, ce include o contribuie inovativ ntr-un anumit domeniu de cercetare. (www.edu.md)

Description of post-university education


Presently, in the Republic of Moldova there are the following forms of postgraduate education: master, doctoral and post-doctoral studies. Master degree studies represent a form of the postgraduate education that ensures majoring in a field and aims at consolidation of competencies acquired during the graduate studies as well as individual research activity. The admission to the muster degree studies is organised by the higher education institutions. The studies last 1-2 years and finalise by the awarding of a master degree diploma. Medical higher education requires obligatory studies at the cycle of rezideniat. Doctoral study is a level of education, carried out mainly by means of comprehensive scientific research, professional or other creative work and interrelated studies. The duration of the doctoral studies is usually 3-4 years. The National Council for Certification and Accreditation (Consiliul National da Atestare si Documentare) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Science establishes doctoral studies admission requirements, as well as further organisational regulations. Doctoral studies finalise by the public presentation of a research thesis and the credential Doctor of Science (Doctor n tiine) is conferred to a graduate. Those who have a doctor degree diploma can apply for post-doctoral studies. The degree requires public defence of a doctoral thesis presenting an original contribution in a particular field of science (Teza de Doctor Habilitat). Post-doctoral studies finalise with by the conferring of the second scientific degree - Doctor Habilitat. (www.edu.md)
