 Origini
Șinto (tradiția religioasă autohtonă a Japoniei) a
fost practicat încă din preistoria Japoniei, în
jurul anului 500 î.Hr.

1 În timpul erei Meiji (1868-1912 d.Hr.),

conducerea naționalistă a Japoniei a eliminat
influența budistă din cultul kami și a format
Șintoismul de stat, pe care mulți istorici îl
consideră ca fiind la originea Șintoismului ca
religie distinctă.
INFORMAȚII Șinto este o religie politeistă și are la bază entități

supranaturale despre care se crede că se găsesc în
toate lucrurile.
Toți kami au o tutelă sau o datorie diferită față de
oamenii din jurul lor. La fel cum oamenii au
obligația de a-i face fericiți pe kami, kami trebuie
să îndeplinească funcția specifică a obiectului,
locului sau ideii pe care o reprezintă.

puritatea esențială a sanctuarelor șintoiste. Din
același motiv, cimitirele nu sunt construite în
apropierea sanctuarelor Șinto.
