PRESENT SIMPLE
FORM: subject + verb (present/V1)
Se folosește pentru:
 habits and routines
 facts about the world/about people/things etc etc
 adevăruri general valabile

PRESENT CONTINUOUS
FORM: subject + am/is/are + verb (ing)
Se folosește pentru:
 actions happening now, at the time of speaking
o NOT a general statement
 temporary activities
o Arun is learning to play the guitar. – învață în acest moment, dar lecțiile se vor
termina
 changes taking place now
o English lessons on YouTube are becoming very popular these days.

PAST SIMPLE
FORM: subject + verb (past/v2)
Se folosește pentru:
 completed actions in the past; evenimente care s-au terminat, care nu mai au
nicio legătură cu prezentul

PAST CONTINUOUS

FORM: subject + was/were + verb (-ing)

Se folosește pentru:
 unfinished, ongoing action in the past (+ finished action)

PRESENT PERFECT
FORM: subject + have/has + verb (past participle/v3)
Se folosește pentru:
 experiences; sunt chestii care se mai pot repeta, față de cele din PAST SIMPLE
o I have taught English to many students.
 recent actions or events
o I have finished my homework. – și-a terminat tema acum foarte puțin timp; nu
se precizează timpul, mărci de timp, pt că s-a întâmplat ft recent
o NOTĂ! dacă pui adverb de timp, nu mai folosești present perfect, ci PAST
SIMPLE

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS

FORM: subject + has/have + been + verb (-ing)
ex: I have been waiting to see the doctor for two hours. – încă așteaptă

Se folosește pentru:
 actions that started in the past and are still continuing

PAST PERFECT
Se face diferența între past perfect și past simple:

- în primul
exemplu, am ajuns la teatru, APOI a început filmul. S-a folosit PAST SIMPLE. În al doilea
exemplu, când am ajuns la teatru, DEJA începuse filmul. S-a folosit PAST PERFECT.
FORM: subject + had + verb (past participle/v3)
Se folosește pentru:
 the first past action (when there are two or more past actions)
 basically, când avem 2 intamplări din trecut, folosim PAST PERFECT ca să
indicăm care dintre cele 2 s-a întâmplat prima
