persoană și trăirile acesteia, să-i transmiteți că i se acordă
Ascultarea activă are legatură cu sentimentele noastre,

Oamenii vor să știe că sunteți lângă ei și-i ascultați.

• So what are the most likely negotiation scenarios associated with each of the “Mad - Bad -
Sad” categories? The “Mad” subtype of Subject is most often associated with those
individuals who are among the ranks of the chronically mentally ill. Their actual diagnosis
doesn’t really matter. They are crazy. They hear voices, they are delusional, and they can be
frequent consumers of the criminal justice system. Based on a number of factors, the
chronically mentally ill are often noncompliant with their medication. For law enforcement,
this is one of the most important and frequent factors leading to negotiation scenarios with
this kind of Subject. The “Bad” subtype is filled with criminals. They can range from the
utterly incompetent to the cold-blooded killer, or psychopath. Either way, negotiators are
typically called to deal with these Subjects because something has gone wrong in the
commission of a crime. There was a plain clothes officer in the bank at the time of the
attempted robbery; a heist got interrupted; law enforcement response time was inordinately
fast. Whatever the reason, this class of Subjects are those who likely have been in the system
for some time. Lastly, and perhaps the most frequent negotiation scenario encountered by
local law enforcement has to do with love and loss. They are the domestics that have
escalated and gone sideways, the lovelorn individual that has suffered a romantic loss. This
category of Subjects is often associated with suicide threats and attempts, a situation that
may escalate to a call out and negotiation scenario.
