servească. Când în curte intră un individ balaoacheş cu o armonică în mână. Se apropie de masă ducând un deget la
frunte şi scoase de îndată ţipete înalte de pe clapele albe şi negre. Începu să cânte cu un antren formidabil şi abia atunci
pe chipurile tuturor apăru o expresie parcă uluită: păi, da, aşa este, e nuntă, şi cine-a mai pomenit nuntă fără lăutari? I se
dădu individului un pahar. Acesta refuză. Fără să spună ceva, dar se înţelegea: de băut beau nuntaşii, lăutarul, cât cântă,
trebuie să fie treaz. Şi îşi încetini mişcarea degetelor pe clape şi începu să-I zică din gură. Povestea… Nu avea glas, dar
avea muzică în el, povestea lui se cânta cu tonurile ei tragice sau groteşti, sentimentale nevoie mare, lăudând femeia,
