2. Cum se desfasoara cursurile?

Studentii sunt inscrisi intr-o clasa pe site-ul http://cisco.netacad.net de catre


instructorul lor si primesc un nume de cont si o parola. Intrand pe acest site,
unde fiecare student va avea propria pagina web, se vor vedea rezultatele
obtinute, se vor da examenele si vor fi informatii la zi despre noutatile
CISCO. 

ATENTIE!

Cursurile si examenele sunt in limba engleza!

Notarea examenelor se face automat pe site-ul CISCO. De obicei examenele


au 18-25 de intrebari. Punctajul maxim este 100 puncte iar cel minim 70 de
puncte.

Instructorii activeaza examenele, corecteaza impreuna cu studentii greselile


din teste, raspund la intrebari.

Fiecare curs are un examen final cu un numar de intrebari ce poate varia intre
50 si 80. Nota minima la acest examen este de 70 puncte din 100 posibile.

REGULAMENTUL CURSULUI

1. Desfasurarea cursului

Cursurile se vor desfasura dupa un program stabilit, de comun acord cu


studentii, la inceputul fiecarui modul.

2. Desfasurarea examenelor
Toti studentii trebuie sa isi dea examenele in timpul alocat fiecarui curs. Dupa
fiecare modul (capitol), dintr-un curs, se va da un examen ON-LINE.
Examenele de capitol sunt optionale. Dupa fiecare curs se da un examen final
obligatoriu. Punctajul minim pentru toate examenele este de 70 puncte din
100 posibile. Dupa fiecare curs studentii primesc certificate de absolvire
recunoscute international, iar la sfarsit primesc un voucher cu discount 70%
pentru certificarea CCNA si vouchere pentru certificarile CompTIA (A+,
Server+, Linux+, Network+, Security+), Panduit, Wireless, Sun.

CURSURI

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is a comprehensive curriculum


that includes four separate modules. These modules cover the learning
objectives of the CCNA certification exam, which is the first step in a Cisco
career certification path. The curriculum emphasizes the use of decision-
making and problem-solving techniques to resolve networking issues.

Students learn how to install and configure Cisco switches and routers in local
and wide-area networks using various protocols, provide Level 1
troubleshooting service, and improve network performance and security.
Additionally, training is provided in the proper care, maintenance, and use of
networking software tools and equipment.

The CCNA certification course features the following modules: CCNA1-


Networking Basics, CCNA2-Routers and Routing Basics, CCNA3-Switching
Basics and Intermediate Routing and CCNA4-WAN Technologies.

CCNA 1 - Networking Basics

Upon completion of CCNA1, students have an understanding of networking


basics including:
 Computer hardware and software, electricity, networking terminology,
and protocols
 LANs and WANs, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model,
Ethernet, and Internet Protocol (IP) addressing
 Design and documentation of a basic network and structured cabling
 Network-to-network communications

CCNA 2 - Routers and Routing Basics


Upon completion of CCNA2, students have an understanding of routers and
routing including:
 Router user interfaces, components and configurations
 Basics of IOS versions, naming and software backup
 TCP/IP Protocol Suite and IP addressing and subnetting
 Interior routing protocols-RIP, IGRP

CCNA 3 - Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing

Upon completion of CCNA3, students have an understanding of switching and


intermediate routing including:
 Switching and VLANs
 Spanning-Tree Protocol
 Routing and Routing Protocols
 Access Control Lists (ACLs)
 Network documentation, security and troubleshooting

CCNA 4 - WAN Technologies

Upon completion of CCNA4, students have an understanding of WAN


technology basics including:
 WAN devices, encapsulation formats, and communication
 PPP components, session establishment, and authentication
 ISDN uses, services, and configuration
 Frame relay technology and configuration

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA1 + CCNA2 +CCNA3 +


CCNA4) prepares students for CCNA certification.

IT Essentials I: PC Hardware and Software

IT Essentials I introduces students to information technology and data


communications. This 70-hour course will help prepare Students will learn
how to build a computer and install different versions of the Windows
operating system. This course will help prepare students for exciting career
opportunities in computer technology. Upon successful completion of this
course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion for IT Essentials I: PC
Hardware and Software. Acquired competencies include:
 Building a computer and installation of the motherboard, floppy and
hard drives, CD-ROM, and video cards.
 Installing and managing Windows operating systems.
 Adding peripherals and multimedia capabilities.
 Knowledge of local-area network architecture, networking protocols
and the OSI Model, and TCP/IP utilities.
 Connecting the computer to a local area network and to the Internet.

In addition to basic networking concepts, the functions and configurations of


a network are also covered.

IT Essentials I prepares students for CompTIA A+ Certification


exam. Additionally, IT Essentials I along with the CCNA courses will
also help prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ certification
exam.

IT Essentials II: Network Operating Systems

IT Essentials II is an intensive introduction to multi-user, multitasking network


operating systems. This course is designed to be an overview of network
operating systems and specifically covers the Linux Red Hat Network
operating system. Students will learn how to use the Linux operating system,
the K Desktop Environment (KDE), and GNU Network Object Model (GNOME).
This course will be a stepping stone to help prepare students for challenging
careers, such as skilled hardware support professional and Linux support
professional. Acquired competencies include:
 Configuration of network services, including basic network security and
troubleshooting.
 Use fundamental command-line features of the Linux environment
including file system navigation, file permissions, the vi text editor,
command shells, and basic network use.
 Explore GUI features including Applications Manager, Text Editor,
printing, and mail.
 Know basic administrative tasks with Windows 2000.

IT Essentials II along with IT Essentials I, will help prepare students


for the CompTIA Server+ certification exam. Additionally, IT
Essentials II along with the Fundamentals of UNIX course will also
help prepare students for the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam.

Network Infrastructure Essentials

This course is designed for students interested in the physical aspects of voice
and data network cabling and installation. The course focuses on cabling
issues related to data and voice connections and provides an understanding
of the industry and its worldwide standards, types of media and cabling,
physical and logical networks, as well as signal transmission. Students will
develop skills in cable termination with both jacks and punchblocks, reading
network design documentation, pulling and mounting cable, cable
management, cable labeling, setting up telecommunications rooms, and patch
panel installation and termination, as well as basic cable testing and
troubleshooting, and basic cabling calculations. This hands-on, lab-oriented
course stresses documentation, design, and installation issues, as well as
laboratory safety, on-the-job safety, and working effectively with others. The
Panduit Network Infrastructure Essentials course will provide a good start in a
career path leading to becoming a network technician, technical support
specialist, maintenance technician, testing engineer, information systems
planner, and systems integrator. This course will also assist in getting
students ready to enter an electrical engineering degree program. Upon
completion of this course, students will:
 Understand the basics of cabling and related safety issues.
 Be able to discuss networking basics.
 Understand the concepts involved in signal transmission through
various media, including cables, optical, and wireless.
 Be able to describe the different types of copper media.
 Be able to discuss fiber-optic media.
 Understand cabling standards.
 Be able to implement structured cabling.
 Be able to demonstrate proper use of the tools used in the cabling
industry.
 Understand the cabling installation process.
 Be able to demonstrate skills required to complete the rough in phase
of a cable installation.
 Be able to demonstrate skills required to complete the trim out phase
of a cable installation.
 Be able to demonstrate skills required to complete the finish phase of a
cable installation.
 Discuss cabling for special situations.
 Understand differences and similarities in standardization around the
world.

Network Infrastructure Essentials course helps students to achieve


the PAI - Panduit Authorised Installer.

Fundamentals of UNIX

Fundamentals of UNIX allows Cisco Networking Academies to specialize in


UNIX training as they prepare students for advanced education in UNIX
administration or Internet-based jobs. This course teaches students how to
use the UNIX operating system and introduces them to the CDE, GNOME, and
KDE Graphical User Interfaces (GUI). An overview of the Sun Solaris and
Linux versions of the UNIX operating system is provided. This course will be a
stepping stone to help prepare students for challenging careers, such as a
UNIX/Linux support professional. Upon successful completion of this course,
students receive a Fundamentals of UNIX Certificate of Completion. Acquired
UNIX competencies include:
 Use fundamental command-line features of UNIX including file system
navigation and file manipulation.
 Changing file permissions, the vi and emacs text editors, Korn and
Bash shell features, basic shell scripts, and basic network use.
 Ability to use Graphical User Interface (GUI) features such as
Application Managers, File Managers, Text Editors, printing and mail.

Fundamentals of UNIX provides basic, entry-level Solaris and LINUX


training. This course, in combination with IT Essentials II, will help
prepare students for the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam.

Fundamentals of Java Programming Language

This course provides a introduction to Java Programming, which teaches


students how to use the Java language�s object oriented technologies to
solve business problems. Students will become familiar with: Java
programming basics in creating classes, objects, and applications; the Java
language Application Programming Interface; and Graphical User Interface
applications. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive
a Fundamentals of Java Programming Certificate of Completion. Acquired
Java programming competencies include:
 Understanding the history and current use of object-oriented
programming and the Java language to solve business problems.
 Knowledge of the Java environment and use of the Java development
kit.
 Application of Java language keywords and syntax to create
statements for declaring and storing java data types.
 Ability to write code that implements object-oriented principles and
design encapsulation, composition, and inheritance.

Fundamentals of Java Programming Language prepares students for


the Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform certification
exam.

Fundamentals of Wireless LANs

As organizations increasingly depend on wireless technologies in their


everyday practices, the Fundamentals of Wireless LANs course teaches
students to develop, implement, and troubleshoot wireless networks. This
course focuses on the design, planning, implementation, operation, and
troubleshooting of wireless networks. It covers a comprehensive overview of
technologies, security, and design best practices. Acquired competencies
include:
 Design a logical wireless LAN architecture for mobile wireless users in
compliance with IEEE 802.11 standards.
 Demonstrate knowledge of the theory regarding the most common
factors that influence WLANs (including EM spectrum, radio wave
propagation, modulation techniques, and frequency and channel usage
in wireless technologies).
 Installation of in-building and building-to-building WLANs with Cisco
devices and appropriate antennas that meet mobility and throughput
specifications, including the site survey and documentation.
 Perform hardware setup and software configuration of Cisco Aironet
wireless products including security using WEP, Cisco LEAP, and 802.1x
protocols.
 Upgrade wireless products and troubleshoot performance issues using
event logging, command-line utilities, and diagnostic tools.

The Wireless LANs course advances students on a career path toward the
following occupations: systems engineer, product support engineer, and
systems integrator. For higher-education bound students, this course
prepares them for electrical engineering or computer and management
information systems degree programs.

Fundamentals of Wireless LANs course helps students to achieve the


Cisco Wireless LAN Support Specialist designation (WLANFE).

Network Security 1

The Network Security 1 course focuses on the overall security processes in a


network with particular emphasis on hands on skills in the following areas:
 Security policy design and management
 Security technologies, products and solutions
 Firewall and secure router design, installation, configuration, and
maintenance
 AAA implementation using routers and firewalls
 Securing the network at both layer 2 and 3 of the OSI model

Upon completion of the Network Security 1 course, students will have


developed an understanding of:
 Security terminology and acronyms
 Basic and advanced security vulnerabilities
 Security policy design and management
 Security technologies, products, solutions and design
 Trust and identity technology at layer 2 and 3
 Configuring and using the Cisco Secure Access Server
 Advanced Firewall installation, configuration, monitoring and
maintenance
 AAA implementation using Cisco routers and PIX Security Appliances
 Layer 2 security features including Identity Based Network Services
(IBNS) and 802.1x
 Filtering network traffic on switches, routers and PIX devices
 Secure Network Design

After completing this course AND the Network Security 2 course,


students will be prepared to take the Securing Networks with Cisco
Routers and Switches (SNRS) and Securing Networks with PIX and
ASA (SNPA) Security Certification exams. These are two of the five
exams that count towards the Cisco Certified Security Professional
(CCSP) certification. In addition, Network Academy students who
pass these two exams will be able to apply for Cisco Firewall/ASA
Specialist status.

Network Security 2

The Network Security 2 course focuses on the overall security process in a


network with particular emphasis on hands on skills in the following areas:
 Security policy design and management
 Security technologies, products and solutions
 Firewall and secure router design, installation, configuration, and
maintenance
 Intrusion Prevention (IPS) implementation using routers and firewalls
 VPN implementation using routers and firewalls

Upon completion of this Network Security 2 course, students will have

 Security terminology and acronyms

 Security technologies, products, solutions and design
 Advanced firewall installation, configuration, monitoring and
maintenance
 Secure Network Architecture and management
 Intrusion Detection and Prevention Technology
 The configuration of Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention
systems
 Encryption and VPN Technology
 The configuration of Site-to-Site VPN using Pre-Shared Keys and Digital
Certificates
 The configuration of remote access VPN
 PIX Security Appliance Contexts, Failover, and Management
After completing this course AND the Network Security 1 course,
students will be prepared to take the Securing Networks with Cisco
Routers and Switches (SNRS) and Securing Networks with PIX and
ASA (SNPA) Security Certification exams. These are two of the five
exams that count towards the Cisco Certified Security Professional
(CCSP) certification. In addition, Network Academy students who
pass these two exams will be able to apply for Cisco Firewall/ASA
Specialist status.
