Macedoniei sau Alexandros III Philippou
Makedonon, rege al Macedoniei (336 î.Hr.-323 î.Hr.),
a fost unul dintre primii mari strategi și conducători
militari din istorie. Cuceririle sale spectaculoase i-au
făcut pe macedoneni stăpâni ai Orientului Apropiat. La
moartea sa, la vârsta de 32 de ani, Alexandru era
stăpânul celui mai mare imperiu cucerit vreodată.

Mama lui Alexandru, Olimpia, nu era de origine
macedoneană, ci era o grecoaică din Epir. După
istorici, ea a fost o femeie aprigă, extrem de
neconvențională, cu ambiții dinastice foarte
puternice și cu interese oculte, crezând în „viața
viitoare” și farmece. Soțul ei, regele Filip, a luat-o
în căsătorie când ea avea 20 de ani, iar el 28.
⬗ Personalitate
⬗ Conform lui Plutarh, Alexandru a avut un temperament violent
și impulsiv, care, fără îndoială, a contribuit la unele dintre
deciziile sale. Deși Alexandru a fost încăpățânat și nu a răspuns
la toate comenzile primite de la tatăl său, el a fost deschis la
dezbateri.
El a avut și o latură mai calmă, perceptivă, logică și calculată. A
avut o mare dorință de cunoaștere, o dragoste pentru filozofie, și a
fost un cititor pasionat. Acest lucru a fost, fără îndoială, datorită
tutelei lui Aristotel.

 Alexandru a fost inteligent și avea un ritm alert de învățare. Datorită
