Aventurile lui Snoby

The author started this children´s book in order to provide education and to prevent a bad habit that
catches root from young age: snobbery. So, how do parents nowadays help their children into
avoiding becoming snobs but still fitting into their group?

Chapter 1.

1. Snoby and Friends

Snoby şi Prietenii

Snoby had no friends, just school colleagues- Although he tried every day to fit in the group…

Snoby nu avea prieteni, doar colegi de şcoală – Deşi el încerca zi de zi să se integreze în grup…

Snoby sometimes played games with his colleagues, which he loved to win and brag about that.
Then his friends would leave him all alone in the school courtyard.

Snoby se juca uneori cu colegii, şi îi plăcea să se laude atunci când câştiga. Apoi prietenii lui îl
lăsau singur în curtea şcolii.
Snoby used to listen to a lot of music and watch cartoons.

Snoby obişnuia să asculte multă muzică şi să se uite la desene animate.

2. Snoby and Dressing Up
Snoby şi îmbrăcatul

Snoby is trying to look cool for his friends. So, he dresses up like they do. He even started talking like
his buddies, hoping that this way they will accept him.

Snoby încearcă să arate mişto pentru prietenii lui. Aşa că, se îmbracă cum se îmbracă ei. El
începe chiar să vorbească ca şi amici lui, sperând că aşa îl vor accepta.
He goes to school with his ripped jeans and smelly clothes, trying to impress. Certainly not his
teachers who asked him on numerous occasions to dress proper but Snoby refused, saying that
school uniform is not trendy.

El merge la şcoală cu blugii rupţi şi hainele urât mirositoare, încercând să impresioneze. Cu

siguranţă nu profesorii care i-au cerut în numeroase ocazii să se îmbrace cum se cuvine dar
Snoby a refuzat, afirmând că uniforma şcolară nu este la modă.
3. Snoby and His Dog – Marcus
Snoby şi câinele lui – Marcus

Although his parents gave Snoby a dog to make him more responsible and caring, it looks that things
are a little the opposite…

Deşi părinţii i-au dat lui Snoby un câine pentru a-l face mai responsabil şi grijuliu, se pare că
lucrurile stau un pic opuse…
Marcus, the dog, takes Snoby out for looong walks… as our hero is always too tired or too busy for
Marcus. The dog needs attention and wants to play… But Snoby no and NO!

Marcus, câinele, Il duce pe Snoby afară la plimbări luuungi…cum eroul nostrum este mereu
prea ocupat pentru Marcus. Câinele are nevoie de atenţie şi vrea să se joace… dar Snoby nu
şi NU!
4. Snoby Goes to School

First Day at School – this is not a great memory for our hero. Snoby found himself surrounded by a
bunch of children full of energy and a teacher who could not hold them in place.

Prima zi la şcoală – aceasta nu este o amintire prea plăcută pentru eroul nostru. Snoby s-a
gasit înconjurat de o grămadă de copii plini de energie şi o învăţătoare care nu îi putea ţine
în loc.
He remembers his mother instructed him to give his teacher a huge bouquet he could hardly carry
and his colleagues made fun of. Even made him trip over. Snoby fell down at the teacher´s feet
holding the flowers. All the children were laughing.

El îşi aminteşte că mama lui l-a instruit să îi dea învăţătoarei un buchet enorm pe care abia îl
putea duce şî de care colegii făceau bâze. Chiar i-au pus piedică să cadă. Snoby a căzut la
picioarele învăţătoarei ţinând buchetul de flori. Toţi copii rădeau.

5. Snoby Makes His First Collection (Ant Farm)

Snoby face prima colecţie (ferma de furnici)

Snoby had a tough school task – to make an ant farm. He went online on his computer to research
what he needed. Then he gave his mom the list of things he needed to build the farm while he went
in the family garden searching for ants and an anthill.

Snoby avea o sarcină grea la şcoală – să facă o fermă de furnici. El a intrat pe internet pe
computerul lui pentru a cerceta cum se face şi de ce are nevoie. Apoi i-a dat mamei o listă cu
lucruri pentru construcţia fermei în timp ce el a mers în grădina familiei pentru a căuta
furnici şi un muşuroi.
Natalie gladly bought her son what he wanted to help him with his task.

Natalia i-a cumpărat bucuroasă fiului ei ce a vrut pentru a-l ajuta cu sarcina.
Snoby found an anthill. He asked his mom to build the ant farm while he brought the anthill to the
ant farm. Natalie built the ant farm according to her son´s directions and soon the ant farm was
populated…

Snoby a găsit un muşuroi. El i-a cerut mamei să construiască ferma de furnici în timp ce el
mută muşuroiul găsit. Natalia a construit ferma după indicaţiile primate de la fiul ei şi nu a
trecut mult timp până ce ferma a fost populată…
The hard work was done! Next day was “Show and Tell Day” at school, Snoby had to present his
project… better said his mom´s work.
Munca grea s-a terminat! Ziua următoare a fost “Ziua Arată şi Spune” la şcoală, Snoby a
trebuit să-şi prezinte proiectul… mai bine zis munca mamei lui. 

6. Snoby Goes Shopping (for gadgets)

Snoby merge la cumpărături (după gadget-uri)

One day Snoby asked his mom, Natalie Snoby, to go shopping with him. He wanted to buy gadgets
like any other modern kid.

Într-o zi Snoby şi-a rugat mama, Natalia Snoby, să meargă la cumpărături cu el. Îşi dorea să
cumpere gadget-uri ca orice alt copil modern.
As they enter the Mall, Snoby is impressed by the newest phone commercials.

Cum au intrat în Mall, Snoby este impresionat de cele mai noi reclame ale telefoanelor
mobile.
“Look mom! This is what I want!” said spoiled Snoby dragging his mom to the latest mobile phone…
“Well son, it is pretty expensive… but for you, anything my beloved!”

- Uite mami! Asta e ceea ce vreau! A spus răsfăţatul Snoby târând-o pe mama lui la cel mai
nou model de telefon…
- Bine, fiule. Este destul de scump… dar pentru tine, orice iubirea mea!

Then Snoby went on chosing more gadgets. One is never enough for him. Although he is the only
child of the Snoby family, Snoby never gets enough of toys and gadgets. This bad behaviour is
unfortunately encouraged by his mom who thinks that toys can replace a brother or sister.

Apoi Snoby şi-a ales în continuare mai multe gadget-uri. Unul nu este destul pentru el. Deşi
este singurul al familiei Snoby,Snoby nu se satură de jucării şi gadget-uri. Acest
comportament rău este din păcate încurajat de mama lui care crede ca jucăriile pot înlocui
un frate sau o soră.
Chapter 2.

7. Snoby and Eating Habbits

Snoby şi Obiceiurile Culinare

Like any child, Snoby still has a lot to learn. While eating dinner with his mother and father, Snoby
decided that he wants to eat with his feet! His parents were in shock.

Ca orice copil, Snoby mai are încă multe de învăţat. În timp ce mânca cina cu mama şi tatăl
lui, Snoby a decis că el vrea să mănânce cu picioarele! Părilnţii lui erau şocaţi.
“What are you doing Snoby!? Get down from the table!” raised his voice, Snoby´s father

- Ce faci Snoby? Dă-te jos de pe masă! A ridicat vocea tatăl lui Snoby.
“I am reinventing eating dad! Look at meeee!”said Snoby while leaning dangerous across the dining
table.

- Reinventez mâncatul tată! Uite-te la mineee! A spus Snoby în timp ce se balansa

periculos de-a lungul mesei.
Being too spoiled, his parents didn`t refuse Snoby anything. But sometimes enough is enough.

Fiind prea răsfăţat, părinţii lui nu i-au refuzat lui Snoby nimic. Dar uneori destul e destul.
After this charade, Snoby went to his parents to ask if he can invite his friends over for a slumber
party… Well, you can guess what their answer was. 

După această şaradă, Snoby s-a dus la părinţi pentru a-I întreba dacă îşi poate chema
prietenii pentru o petrecere în pijamale… Ei bine, puteţi ghici care a fost răspunsul lor.
8. The Slumber Party
Petrecerea în pijamale

Snoby went at school very excited to invite his friends and colleagues at the party. He even made
flyers. He called classmates. Snoby was very involved in organizing the event, so that everyone
would come and have a good time. The party was schedueled for Saturday at 18 PM. Snoby and his
mom bought juice, chocolate and other food they might eat.

Snoby s-a dus la şcoală foarte bucuros să-şi invite prietenii şi colegii la petrecere. Chiar el a
făcut pliante. Şi-a chemat colegii de clasă. Snoby a fost foarte implicat în organizarea
evenimentului, pentru ca toată lumea să vină şi să se simtă bine. Petrecerea a fost
programată pentru Sâmbătă la ora 18PM. Snoby şi mama lui au cumpărat sucul, ciocolata şi
alte mâncăruri pe care le-ar servi.
He waited impatiently for the children to come. He waited for hours. At first they all said they would
come. Snoby started to cry when he realized that nobody was going to come to his party. Marcus put
a paw on his knees and looked at him deep into his eyes, cheering him up.

El a aşteptat nerăbdător să vină copiii. A aştepat ore în şir. La început au zis că vor veni.
Snoby a început să plângă când şi-a dat seama că nimeni nu va veni la petrecere. Marcus şi-
a pus laba pe genunchii lui şi s-a uitat adânc în ochii lui, înveselindu-l.

“So what if they didn´t come? At least they should have called!” cried Snoby holding his dog Marcus.

- Şi ce-i dacă nu au venit? Trenbuiau măcar să sune! Plângea Snoby ţinându-l pe

câinele lui Marcus.

Chapter 3.

9. Snoby Meets the Talking Tree

Snoby se întâlneşte cu copacul vorbitor
While talking a walk, Snoby takes a different path today. He did not listen to his parents
when they told him to be careful and he got lost. While searching his way home through the
woods, Snoby hears a voice “Little boy, you must change!”, cried the voice. Snoby looked up
and down but saw no person, but a beautiful big green tree, with moving branches and a
wide hollow. The tree was talking to him through the hollow.
În timp ce se plimba, Snoby a ales astăzi o nouă potecă. El nu şi-a ascultat părinţii când i-au
spus să aibe grijă să nu se rătăcească. În timp ce îşi căuta drumul spre casă prin pădure,
Snoby aude o voce “Tinere băiat, trebuie să te schimbi!” a şuierat vocea. Snobi s-a uitat în
sus şi în jos dar nu a văzut nici o persoană, ci un copac mare şi frumos, care îşi mişca
ramurile şi avea o scorbură mare. Copacul vorbea prin scorbură.
“Mr. Tree, why are you so upset with me?” asked Snoby.
- Domnule Copac, de ce sunteţi aşa de supărat pe mine? A întrebat Snoby.
“Well, young boy, it is not you that I am upset with, but your attitude! Do you not see that
you drive everyone away from you and you have no real friends?” said the handsome tree.
- Ei bine, tinere, nu pe tine sunt supărat, ci pe atitudinea ta! Tu nu vezi că îi îndepărtezi
pe toţi din jurul tău şi că nu ai prieteni adevăraţi? A spus frumosul copac.
“Yes.... I did see that but, why is it my fault? Mother says that if people avoid me then they
are not worth being called friends.”
- Da… am văzut asta dar, de ce e vina mea? Mama spune că dacă oamenii mă evită
atunci nu sunt vrednici să îi numesc prieteni.
“It is true what you say, but you must see yourself also. Think for yourself, your mother has
her opinion. Why do you think children avoid you?”
- E adevărat ce zici, dar trebuie să te vezi şi pe tine însuţi. Gândeşte pentru tine, mama
ta are părerea ei. De ce crezi că te evită copii?
“Because I am better at games than them, and because I have better food and clothes…?! “
replied Snoby somewhat confused, yet aware of the answer.
- Pentru că sunt mai bun la jocuri decât ei, pentru că am mâncare mai bună şi haine
mai bune…?! A răspuns Snoby oarecum confuz, dar conştient de răspuns.
“Hmmm”…mumbled Mr.Tree, “The problem, my friend, is that you think you are all those
things you told me. You see yourself superior to your friends and they don´t like that.
Nobody does.”
Snoby was all reddish and his head fell down.
- Hmmm … A mormăit Dl. Copac. Problema, prietenul meu, este că tu crezi toate
aceste lucruri care mi le-ai spus. Tu te vezi superior prietenilor tăi şi lor nu le place
asta. Nimănui nu îi place asta.
Snoby s-a înroşit tot şi stătea cu capul în jos.
“Wouldn´t you like to change?” asked Mr. Tree
- Nu ai vrea să te schimbi? A întrebat Dl. Copac.
“Oh, yes, I would if I can have friends again. But can I?”
- Ba da, dacă aş putea să am prieteni din nou. Dar oare pot?
“This depends to you and your will.” replied the wise Tree. They chatted till late that
evening. Snoby returned home safe and with a plan.
- Asta depinde de tine şi de voinţa ta. A răspuns înţeleptul Copac. Ei au povestit până
târziu în acea după-amiază. Dl. Snoby s-a întors acasă cu un plan.

10. The Change

Schimbarea

After Snoby met Mr. Tree, things started to change. Snoby started to grow up really fast and
understand things different. He realized he does not live only for himself and it is good to
help others, because that way you help yourself too.
După ce Snoby l-a întâlnit pe Dl. Copac, lucrurile au început să se schimbe. Snoby a început
să crească repede şi să înţeleagă lucrurile diferit. El şi-a dat seama că nu trăieşte doar
pentru sine şi că este bine să îi ajuţi pe ceilalţi, pentru că aşa te ajuţi pe tine.
Everytime Snoby had a dilemma he went to talk to Mr. Tree who always gave him good
advice. Mr.Tree was like the grandfather Snoby never had.
De fiecare dată când Snoby avea o nelămurire el se ducea să vorbească cu Dl. Copac care
mereu îi dădea sfaturi bune. Dl. Copac era ca şi bunicul pe care Snoby niciodată nu l-a avut.

11. Snoby Gets a Job

Snoby primeşte un servici

Time passed like magic in Mr.Snoby´s life after he met Mr. Tree. A week passed and the year
was already over. As a consequence of growing up, Snoby had to go to work like all adults.
But that did not make Mr.Snoby mumble as usual.
Timpul a trecut ca prin magie în viaţa lui Snoby după ce s-a întâlnit cu Dl. Copac. O
săptămână trecea şi deja era un an… Ca o consecinţă a creşterii, Snoby a trebuit să se
angajeze ca toţi adulţii. Dar asta nu l-a făcut pe Snoby să mormăie ca de obicei.
In his way to independence, Snoby is determined to get a job. He applies to several companies. But
he is rejected. Snoby has a bad CV. He doesn´t know how to write one. All his life he had someone
else do things for him… and in school he listened to music in headphones all the time.
În drumul lui spre independenţă, Snoby este hotărât să se angajeze. El aplică la câteva
companii. Dar este respins. Snoby are un C.V. rău. Nu ştie cum să scrie unul. Toată viaţa el a
dispus ca alţii să facă lucrurile pentru el… şi în şcoală asculta mereu muzică la căşti.
Now independence seams like a hard job for him, taking up responsibility and stuff… He sat down at
his desk and started rewriting his C.V.… and applied again. After a few days – Success! There was a
positive answer! A company responded to his request and now Snoby has a job!

Acum independenţa pare un lucru greu pentru el, să îşi asume răspunderea şi chestii… S-a
aşezat la biroul lui şi a început să-şi rescrie C.V.-ul… şi a aplicat din nou. După câteva zile –
Succes! A primit un răspuns pozitiv! O companie i-a raspuns cererii şi acum Snoby are un job!
He suddenly started to feel very thankful and wanted to share this with Mr. Tree. After Snoby met
Mr.Tree he went to work happier. He started by being more polite to his colleagues. He even
ordered pizza for everyone. He helped out a colleague who asked his help.

Brusc s-a simţit foarte mulţumitor şi a vrut să îi spună şi Domnului Copac. După ce Snoby s-a
întâlnit cu Dl. Copac, acesta s-a dus la lucru mai fericit. El a început să fie mai politicos cu
colegii. Chiar a comandat pizza pentru toţi. Şi-a ajutat un coleg ce i-a cerut ajutor.
12. Snoby Starts to Recycle
Snoby începe să recicleze
Snoby returned to his friend Mr. Tree for advice. Mr. Tree gave Snoby a bag with magic
powder. Snoby had to use that powder whenever he wanted to do a good deed.
Snoby s-a întors la prietenul lui Dl.Copac pentru sfaturi. Dl.Copac i-a dat lui Snoby o pungă
cu praf magic. Snoby trebuie să folosească praful magic de câte ori vrea să facă o faptă
bună.
One day, Snoby decided he wants to do something for nature, for trees. He took some
magic power from the bag and sprinkled it all over the woods. From dusk till dawn,
everything was greener, the alleys were cleaned and new trash cans were put in place in the
happy green wood. Birds were singing with joy, animals were running without fear and
people were eager to visit this magic place.
Într-o zi, Snoby a decis că vrea să facă ceva pentru natură, pentru copaci. A luat ceva praf
magic din pungă şi l-a presărat peste tot prin pădure. De la amurg până în zori, totul a fost
mai verde, toate aleile erau curate, coşuri noi de gunoi erau aşezate în pădurea fericită.
Păsările cântau voioase, animalele alergau fără frică şi oamenii erau dornici să viziteze acest
loc magic.
Snoby was pleased with his work. He was happy because he made others happy.
Snoby a fost mulţumit de munca lui. El a fost fericit pentru că i-a făcut pe alţii fericiţi.

13. Snoby and Marcus Become Best Friends

Snoby şi Marcus devin cei mai buni prieteni
If in the beginning of our story, Snoby saw Marcus as a burden, an extra chore, in time, he
started to see him as a friend. Marcus was always defending him when he thought Snoby
was in danger. Marcus was there for him when the children abandoned him at the party. He
is a loyal friend.
Dacă la începutul poveştii noastre, Snoby l-a văzut pe Marcus ca pe o povară, o sarcină în
plus, în timp, el a început să îl vadă ca pe un prieten. Marcus îl apăra mereu când credea că
Snoby era în pericol. Marcus a fost alături de el atunci când copii nu au venit la petrecere. El
e un prieten loial.
Snoby discovers how nice it is to play with your own dog. It´s even nicer than playing with
gadgets.
Snoby descoperă ce frumos este să te joci cu propriul tău câine. E chiar mai frumos decât să
te joci cu gadget-urile.

14. Snoby at the Market

Snoby la piaţă
One day, Snoby decided to make something good to eat. He opened the television and surprise! He
saw a new recepie with new ingredients. Snoby rushed to the market. There he searched for hours
to find the magic ingredients for his recepie… but it was in vain. He could not find all of them. The TV
moderator usually presents the most unusual recepies so that people like Snoby will surely buy the
ingredients and try to make the dish. Well, not everyone is a master chef, right? In the end, or hero
ordered a huge pizza.

Într-o zi, Snoby decide să facă ceva bun de mâncare. El deschide television şi surpriză! Vede
o reţetă nouă cu ingredient noi. Snoby s-a grăbit la piaţă. Acolo a căutat ore în şir
ingredientele magice pentru reţetă… dar în zadar. Nu le-a putut găsi pe toate. Prezentatorul
T.V. prezintă cele mai neobişnuite reţete aşa ca oamenii ca Snoby să cumpere cu siguranţă
ingredientele şi să încerce să facă mâncarea. Ei bine, nu toţi sunt un master chef, aşa-i? În
final, eroul nostru şi-a comandat o pizza.
15. Snoby Loves Christmas

Every year in Christmas season Snoby, uses to help out children who have no parents. So he goes to
visit orphanages and makes the children gifts or plays the role of Santa for them, telling them
wonderful stories. This activity makes him happy and the children also.

În fiecare an în sezonul Crăciunului, Snoby obişnuieşte să ajute copii care nu au părinţi. Aşa
că el merge să viziteze orfelinate şi le face cadouri copiilor sau joacă rolul de Moş Crăciun
pentru ei, spunându-le poveşti minunate. Această activitate îl face fericit şi pe copii de
asemenea.
Snoby sprinkles some magic powder over the Santa letters he receives from the orphans. The
children are always happy and pleased with what they receive.

Snoby aruncă cu praf magic peste scrisorile de Moş Craciun pe care le primeşte de la copii orfani.
Copii sunt mereu fericiţi şi mulţumiţi cu ce primesc.
 16. New Friends
Prieteni Noi
Mr. Tree saw that Snoby was feeling lonely and that he had no friends, just his dog Marcus.
So, he sent the Green Team over to help him make friends. Who was the Green Team? Well,
Hard Worker Mrs. Ant, Smiling Mr. Grasshopper, Meddling Mrs. Bee and Dancing Mr. Rabbit
are the Green Team. Each of them had special magic powers.
Dl.Copac a văzut că Snoby se simţea singur şi că nu avea prieteni, doar câinele lui Marcus.
Aşa că a trimis Echipa Verde să îl ajute să-şi facă prieteni. Cine era Echipa Verde? Ei bine,
Harnica D-na Furnică, Zâmbitorul Dl. Greiere, Băgăcioasa D-na Albină şi Dansatorul Dl.
Iepure sunt Echipa Verde. Fiecare din ei au puteri magice speciale.
Mrs. Ant and Mrs. Bee were both always doing hard work. Always cleaning and building
stuff. While Mr. Grasshopper was singing his cheerful music to create a peaceful work place.
Mr. Rabbit was the showman. He was always hopping around and dancing on Mr.
Grasshopper´s music.
D-na Furnică şi D-na Albină făceau amândouă munca cea grea. Întodeauna făceau curăţenie
şi construiau lucruri. În timp ce Dl. Greiere cânta melodia lui veselă pentru a crea o
atmosferă paşnică la locul de muncă. Dl. Iepure era omul spectacol. El sărea mereu în jur şi
dansa pe muzica D-lui Greiere.
Mrs. Bee was dressed in her lovely black and golden coat. Mrs. Ant was always dressed in
black. Mr. Rabbit had a fluffy white suit with a black magician hat which he loved to wear.
The Smiling Grasshopper had always an extravagant sparkling green elegant suit.
D-na Albină era îmbrăcată în minunatul ei palton negru-auriu. D-na Furnică era mereu
înbrăcată în negru. Dl. Iepure avea un costum alb pufos cu o pălărie neagră ca un magician
ce îi plăcea să o poarte. Zâmbitorul Dl. Greiere avea mereu un costum strălucitor
extravagant verde.
Snoby was amazed by the Green Team and how well they work together. He soon wanted to
join and be friends with them. The Green Team helped Snoby grow up and they worked
wonderful together in Snoby´s future plans.
Snoby a fost uimit de Echipa Verde şi de felul cum lucrează ei împreună. În curând el şi-a
droit să facă parte din ea şi să se împrietenească cu membrii echipei. Echipa Verde l-a ajutat
pe Snoby să se maturizeze şi au lucrat impreună minunat la viitoarele proiecte ale lui Snoby.
