SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Be sure to observe all these safety precautions.
Please READ through this manual carefully. It will enable you to use the scanner correctly.
Always keep this manual nearby for speedy reference.
Strict observance of these warnings and cautions is a MUST for preventing accidents that
could result in bodily injury and substantial property damage. Make sure you fully understand
all definitions of these terms and symbols given below before you proceed to the text itself.

Alerts you to those conditions that could cause serious bodily

injury or death if the instructions are not followed correctly.

Meaning of Symbols
A triangle ( ) with a picture inside alerts you to a warning of danger. Here you see
the warning for electrical shock.
A diagonal line through a circle ( ) warns you of something you should not do; it
may or may not have a picture inside. Here you see a screwdriver inside the circle,
meaning that you should not disassemble.
A black circle ( ) with a picture inside alerts you to something you MUST do. This
example shows that you MUST unplug the power cord.

 To System Designers:
• When introducing the scanner in those systems that could affect human
lives (e.g., medicines management system), develop applications
carefully through redundancy and safety design which avoids the
feasibility of affecting human lives even if a data error occurs.

• If smoke, abnormal odors or noises come from the scanner, immediately

switch off the host computer, unplug the interface cable, and contact your
nearest dealer.
Failure to do so could cause fire or electrical shock.

• If foreign material or water gets into the scanner, immediately switch off
the host computer, unplug the interface cable, and contact your nearest
dealer.
Failure to do so could cause fire or electrical shock.

• If you drop the scanner so as to affect the operation or damage its

housing, switch off the host computer, unplug the interface cable, and
contact your nearest dealer.
Failure to do so could cause fire or electrical shock.

• Never bring any metals into contact with the terminals in connectors.
Doing so could produce a large current through the scanner, resulting in
heat or fire, as well as damage to the scanner.
• Never use the scanner on the line voltage other than the specified level.
Doing so could cause the scanner to break or burn.
• Do not use the scanner where any inflammable gases may be emitted.
Doing so could cause fire.
• Do not subject the reading window of the scanner to direct sunlight for
extended periods.
Doing so could damage the scanner, resulting in a fire.

• Do not put the scanner on an unstable or inclined plane.
The scanner may drop, creating injuries.
• Never put the scanner in places where there are excessively high
temperatures, such as inside closed-up automobiles, or in places exposed
to direct sunlight.
Doing so could affect the housing or parts, resulting in a fire.
• Avoid using the scanner in extremely humid areas, or where there are
drastic temperature changes.
Moisture will get into the scanner, resulting in malfunction, fire or electrical
shock.
• Do not place the scanner anyplace where it may be subjected to oily
smoke or steam, e.g., near a cooking range or humidifier.
Doing so could result in a fire or electrical shock.
• Never disassemble or modify the scanner; doing so could result in an
accident such as break or fire.

Doing so could cause the scanner to heat up inside, deforming its housing,
resulting in a fire.
Always use the scanner in a well-ventilated area.
• Do not scratch or modify the scanner or its interface cable. Do not bend,
twist, pull, or heat the cable.
Doing so could damage the scanner or its interface cable, creating a fire
hazard.
• Do not put heavy material on the scanner or its interface cable, or allow
the cable to get pressed under heavy material.

• Do not look into the light source from the reading window or do not point
the reading window at other people's eyes.
Eyesight may be damaged by direct exposure to this light.
• Do not use the scanner if your hands are wet or damp.
Doing so could result in an electrical shock.
• Never use chemicals or organic solvents such as benzene and thinner to
clean the housing. Do not apply insecticide to the scanner.
Doing so could result in a marred or cracked housing, electrical shock or
fire.
• Do not use the scanner with anti-slip gloves containing plasticizer.
The scanner housing may be broken, creating injuries, electrical shock, or
fire.

 • If the interface cable is damaged (e.g., exposed or broken lead wires),
stop using it and contact your nearest dealer.
Failure to do so could result in a fire or electrical shock.

Care and Maintenance

Dust and other foreign matter on the clear plate of the reading window can impede code input,
so regularly check for it and remove it as the usage environment warrants.
• To clean the plate, first blow the dust away with an airbrush. Then gently wipe the plate with
a cotton swab or the similar soft one.
• If sand or hard particles have accumulated, never rub the plate; doing so will scratch or
damage it. Blow the particles away with an airbrush or a soft brush.

Limited Warranty on Software Products

In no event will DENSO WAVE be liable for direct, indirect, special, incidental, or
consequential damages (including imaginary profits or damages resulting from interruption of
operation or loss of business information) resulting from any defect in the software or its
documentation or resulting from inability to apply the software or its documentation.

Chapter 2 Preparation
Host PC and Operating System
The scanner requires any of the following operating systems on a host PC equipped with a
USB port (Version 1.1 or later).
Host: PC/AT or AT/AT compatible PC including NEC PC98-NX
Operating System (OS): Windows 98/98SE
Windows Me
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows XP Home/Professional
NOTE: The scanner cannot be used on Windows NT that does not support any USB device.
Connecting the interface cable to the scanner
(1) Pull the connector cover of the interface cable off its connector as shown below.
(2) Plug the cable connector into the connector located in the bottom of the scanner.
NOTE: As shown below, hold the scanner body, align the ▼ mark on the cable
connector with that on the scanner, and fully insert the interface cable connector.

(3) Align the two bosses on the connector cover with cutouts in the scanner body, fit the
connector cover into the scanner, and turn it clockwise to lock it.

Chapter 3 Connection to the Host PC
-- Setting up the USB-COM Interface --
The scanner can receive and send data from/to the host PC through the USB-COM interface.
The USB-COM interface requires the USB-COM device driver that comes with the scanner in
a CD-ROM. You can download the latest version of our USB-COM device driver from the
DENSO WAVE website at:
http://www.denso-wave.com/

The file downloaded contains the USB-COM device driver and uninstaller which are
compressed. It is a self-extracting file. Store the file into a folder and then double-click its icon
to extract it.
If you connect the interface cable (USB cable) to the host PC, the system-supplied driver setup
wizard will automatically run. Follow the wizard and install the USB-COM device driver.
The setup procedure on each of Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows
XP is described on the following pages.

TIP: The scanner is capable of communicating with the host PC also via the USB keyboard
interface. To use the interface, you need to set up the USB device class driver for HID (Human
Interface Device) which is included in Windows 98 or later OS. For the precautions, refer to
the User's Manual (separately issued)*.

Notes for connecting the USB cable

When plugging and unplugging the USB connector, put an interval of at least 10 seconds
between those actions, since Windows may take several to 10 seconds to add or delete the
USB device.
Hot plugging/unplugging is allowed for USB devices. However, when the PC is in suspend
mode, do not plug or unplug their cables.
When the host PC is processing the scanner connection, do not plug or unplug any other
USB device cables.
Never disconnect the USB cable when the scanner is in communication. Doing so will not
only lose data but affect the system badly.
Directly connect the scanner to the USB port on the host PC or to the self-powered hub. The
scanner may not be connected to some types of hubs. If the operation of the hub-connected
scanner is unstable, connect it directly to the USB port on the host PC.

Notes for installing the USB-COM device driver

If our USB-COM device driver has not been installed to your PC, do not connect the
GT10Q-SU/-HU to its USB port before or when you switch the PC on. Connecting it at such
timing will start installing a USB device driver during booting, so the driver installation may
not be completed successfully.

If it is impossible to install our USB-COM device driver, any similar USB device driver may
have been already installed to your PC. If it has, remove the USB device from the device
manager and reinstall our USB device driver. Note that before the removal, you should
confirm that the currently installed USB device driver is not used for other USB devices.
If you are using any DENSO WAVE USB device operated by our USB-COM device driver,
no driver installation is required since the USB-COM device driver already installed to your
PC will be automatically used.
If you want to install a new USB-COM device driver, uninstall the previously installed
similar driver using the dedicated uninstaller before installing a new one.
Store the Windows 98SE/Me device driver file (dwcom9x.ini, dwcom9x.sys, dwport.ini, and
dwport.vxd) and Windows 2000/XP device driver file (dwcom.ini and dwcom.sys) in
separate folders. (That is, do not extract those driver files in the same folder.)
When installing device drivers, be sure to specify the driver designed for the Windows
version running on the host computer. Installing any driver designed for different Windows
versions might damage the system.
If you have installed or attempted to install any wrong driver:
Windows 98SE: Choose View|Options and select "Show hidden files."
Windows Me/2000/XP: Choose Tools|Folder Options and select "Show hidden files and
folders" and clear the "Hide protected operating system files" check box.
And then, follow the recovery procedure given below.
- If you have installed the device driver designed for Windows 2000/XP family to Windows
98SE/Me:
The wrong device is marked with the when the Windows device manager is opened.
Remove the wrong device with the following steps:
1) Remove the DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port from the device manager.
2) Remove the following files if any at the following locations:
C: Windows Inf Other DENSO WAVEdwcom.inf
C: Windows Inf Dwcom.inf, Dwcom.pnf, Dwcom9x.inf,
Dwcom9x.pnf, Dwport.inf, Dwport.pnf
C: Windows System Dwport.vxd
C: Windows Sytem32 drivers Dwport.sys
3) Reboot your PC.
- If you attempted to install the device driver designed for Windows 98 family to Windows
2000/XP:
Windows 2000/XP issued an error and rejected the driver installation. To recover from the
error state, perform the following steps:
1) Remove the USB Device GT10Q-SU/-HU from the device manager.
2) Remove Oem*.inf files having the same contents of Dwcom9x.inf from C: Winnt Inf
folder. (To find those files, open the Dwcom9x.inf file stored on the installer CD using
Note Pad and copy the character string(s) on the top line, open the Winnt Inf folder,
click Search on the tool bar, paste the string(s) into the Containing text box, and click
Search Now.)

 3) Remove Oem*.pnf files (a compiled file of the Oem*.inf files), where * is the same
number as Oem*.inf files.
4) Remove the following files if any at the following locations:
C: Winnt Inf Dwcom.inf, Dwcom.pnf, Dwcom9x.inf,
Dwcom9x.pnf, Dwport.inf, Dwport.pnf
C: Winnt System Dwport.vxd
C: Winnt Sytem32 drivers Dwcom9x.sys
Note: For Windows XP, read C: Winnt … as C: Windows …
5) Reboot your PC.
After completion of the procedure above, reinstall our USB-COM device driver.

Installation procedure
Follow the procedure shown below to install the USB-COM device driver that comes with the
scanner in a CD-ROM.
• The CD-ROM includes drivers for Windows 98SE/Me and for Windows 2000/XP, and an
exclusive uninstaller which can be commonly used with all Windows versions.
• To uninstall these drivers, use the exclusive uninstaller.
• For Windows 2000/XP, administrative permission is necessary to install/uninstall drivers.

Windows 98SE
(1) Switch your PC on to run Windows 98SE.
(2) Double-click the driver icon to extract it.

(3) Connect the GT10Q-SU/-HU to

the PC directly, and the "New
Hardware Found" appears.

(4) The Add New Hardware Wizard

starts.
Click Next to proceed.

 (5) Select Search for the best driver
for your device (Recom-
mended), then click Next.

(6) Select the Specify a location

check box, enter the location
where drivers for Windows
98SE/Me are stored (or click
Browse to specify it), and then
click Next.
(This sample shows that the
drivers are stored in D: DRIVER
WIN9X.)

(7) If "DENSO WAVE USB-COM

Port" is found as "The updated
driver (Recommended)", then
click Next.

 (8) If this screen appears showing that
Windows is now ready to install
the best driver for the DENSO
WAVE USB-COM Port, then
click Next.

(9) If this screen appears, click

Finish.
When copying driver files is
finished, "New hardware found"
messages for "Unknown device"
and "DENSO WAVE USB-COM
Port" appear in this order.
All installation processes are
completed.

(10) To make sure that the USB-COM

device driver has been
successfully installed, open the
Windows' Device Manager.
If DENSO WAVE USB-COM
Port is added to the sub-tree of
Ports (COM & LPT) as shown at
left, the scanner is connected
normally.
If the device is not added or it is
marked with or , remove
this driver with the uninstaller,
reboot your PC, and perform the
above connection process again.

Windows Me
(1) Switch your PC on to run Windows Me.
(2) Double-click the driver icon to extract it.
(3) Connect the GT10Q-SU/-HU to your PC directly, and the "USB Device" is found as a
new hardware device.

(4) The Add New Hardware Wizard

starts.
Select Specify the location of the
driver [Advanced], then click
Next.

(5) Select the Specify a location check

box, enter the location where drivers
for Windows 98SE/Me are stored
(or click Browse to specify it), and
then click Next.
(This sample shows that the drivers
are stored in D: DRIVER WIN9X.)

(6) If this screen appears showing that

Windows is now ready to install the
best driver for the DENSO WAVE
USB-COM Port, then click Next.

 (7) If this screen appears, click
Finish.
When copying driver files is
finished, "New hardware found"
messages for "Unknown device"
and "DENSO WAVE USB-COM
Port" appear in this order.
All installation processes are
completed.

Windows 2000
(1) Switch your PC on to run Windows 2000. Log on as an Administrator.
(2) Double-click the driver icon to extract it.

(3) Connect the GT10Q-SU/-HU to

your PC directly, and the "Found
New Hardware" appears.

(4) The Found New Hardware

Wizard starts.
Click Next to proceed.

(5) Select Search for the suitable

driver for my device
(Recommended), then click
Next.

(6) Select the Specify a location

check box, then click Next.

 (7) Enter the location where drivers
for Windows 2000/XP are stored
(or click Browse to specify it),
and then click OK.
(This sample shows that the
drivers are stored in D: DRIVER
WIN2K.)

(8) If "d: driver win2k dwcom.inf" is

found, click Next.

dwcom.inf is stored in D:

(9) Even if the "Digital Signature Not

Found" appears, you must
continue this installation. Click
Yes.

(10) If the completion screen appears,

click Finish.

Windows XP
(1) Switch your PC on to run Windows XP. Log on as an Administrator.
(2) Double-click the driver icon to extract it.

(3) Connect the GT-10Q-SU/-HU to

your PC directly, and the "Found
New Hardware" appears on the
task tray..

(4) The Found New Hardware

Wizard starts.
Select Install from a list or
specific location [Advanced],
then click Next.

 (5) Select Search for the best driver
in these locations and Include
this location in the search check
box, then enter the location where
drivers for Windows 2000/XP are
stored (or click Browse to specify
it), and then click Next.
(This sample shows that the
drivers are stored in D: DRIVER

(6) Even if the caution about

Windows Logo testing (WHQL)
appears, you must continue this
installation. Click Continue
Anyway.

(7) If the completion screen appears,

click Finish.

(8) When copying driver files is

finished, the hint message "Found
New Hardware" appears on the
task tray.
All installation processes are
completed.

Chapter 4 Scanning Codes
Operating procedure
(1) Bring the reading window to a target code and press the trigger switch. Pressing the
trigger switch halfway turns on the marker beam, indicating the scan range. Align the
center of the marker beam with that of the target code.
Pressing the trigger switch fully turns on the illumination LED and scans the code.
(This step is not required in the continuous reading mode 1, 2 and auto sensing mode.)

(2) Wait for the indicator LED to turn blue, the beeper to sound, and the vibrator to operate,
indicating a successful read.

NOTE: The actual scan range is narrower than the marker beam range. The scan range is
approx. 2.4" (6 cm) wide by 1.6" (4 cm) high when the scan distance is approx. 3.9" (10
cm).
NOTE: The marker beam range should be used merely as a guide. It does not assure that a
code within the marker beam range can be read.
NOTE: Allow only a single code to come within the scan range. If two or more codes lie
within the scan range at the same time, the scanner may fail to read or continue reading
those codes alternately.
NOTE: The scanner can read codes omnidirectionally. Note that a target code plus its
margin should lie within the scan range.
NOTE: If the scanner fails to read due to specular effects or other factors, change the scan
angle of the reading window or the distance from codes, and try it again. (Specular effects
occur when the reflection of the light from the label surface becomes excessively strong.
This can easily happen when the reflecting surface is polished or covered with vinyl.)

 Scanning modes
Regular read mode This mode transfers the read code data when the scanner
has read the code successfully.

Data verification mode This mode verifies the read code data against the master
code data stored in the scanner.

Chapter 5 Setting Parameters
You may easily set parameters for communications conditions and readable codes in the
following two ways. Settings made in these ways will be retained even after the power is
turned off.
(1) Scanning parameter setting QR Code symbols in the QR-coded parameter menu by
pressing the trigger switch.
The QR-coded parameter menu in Appendix 2 allows you to make basic settings.
(2) Using the configuration software (ScannerSetting 2D)* in your PC. (With this software,
you can generate a batch-process QR Code symbol to be scanned for setting.)

This chapter describes how to set parameters with the QR-coded parameter menu.

Parameter setting procedure using the QR-coded parameter menu

Start setting Use the scanner to scan the "Start setting" QR Code symbol.
↓ The beeper sounds three times.
Scan parameter setting Scan necessary parameter setting QR Code symbols.

Scanning the "All defaults" QR Code symbol in the QR-coded parameter menu makes all
items in the menu revert to the factory defaults.

TIP: "Beeper volume" QR Code in the QR-coded parameter menu

The beeper volume can be set even if the above procedure is omitted. No "Start setting" or
"End setting" QR Code symbol is required to be scanned.
Each time the "Beeper volume" QR Code symbol is scanned, the beeper volume cycles
through High, Medium and Low. The factory default is High.

 Setting the communications parameters

The scanner is compliant with USB 1.1. Installing our virtual COM port driver "USB-COM
device driver" to the host PC enables the scanner to operate with communications software that
uses a conventional RS-232C serial port.

Notes for use

• In Windows 2000/XP, if you connect the scanner to your PC first time or have changed the
COM port for the scanner or hub, then confirm the COM port number on the Windows
device manager or the like before use.
• Windows 98SE/Me will automatically assign the COM port number according to the OS
specifications so that the port number cannot be fixed. This may cause the COM port
number to be changed at the time of next rebooting of the host PC if (1) you have connected
the scanner to the COM port first time or (2) you have changed the configuration as given
below:
- Changing the number of the scanner units connected to the COM ports
- Changing the COM port to which the scanner or hub is connected.
In such a case, reboot the host PC, open the device manager, and check the COM port
number actually assigned by OS before use.
• If you want to use two or more communications processors (software) or scanners
concurrently on your PC, be sure to assign a unique COM port number to each of them.
• If the host PC switches to the suspended mode when any communications software is
running and recovers from that suspended mode, the software may freeze in some PCs. Quit
and restart the software.
• It is not necessary to make settings such as transmission speed, data bits, parity, and stop
bits (which are required for communications software using a conventional serial port) since
the USB interface ignores those settings. The flow control should be set to "Hardware
(RTS/CTS)" or "None."
• The virtual COM port on the PC and the scanner are virtually connected with each other as
shown below.

The transmission format can be selected from the following two options:

BCC: The Block Character Check (BCC) exclusive-ORs all bits at the same bit
level in characters following the header and preceding the terminator in a
transmission block to generate a horizontal parity byte to be transferred in
a binary code. The BCC can be enabled or disabled. If no header is
prefixed, no BCC will be transferred.

● 薬品の管理等、人命に影響を与える可能性があるシステムでは、デ
ータが誤った場合でも人命に影響を与える可能性が無いよう、冗長
設計、安全設計には十分ご注意ください。

ったり、引っ張ったりしないでください。
スキャナやインタフェースケーブルが破損して、火災の原因となる
ことがあります。

● スキャナやインタフェースケーブルの上に重いものをのせたり、重
いものの下敷きにならないようにしてください。

● この機器の読み取り口から光源をのぞき込んだり、人の目に読み取
り口を向けないでください。
この光が目に当たると視力障害などを起こすことがあります。

● ぬれた手で使用しないでください。
感電の原因となることがあります。

● ベンジン、シンナーなどの化学薬品や洗剤で拭いたり、殺虫剤をか
けないでください。
ひび割れ、感電、引火の原因となることがあります。

 ● 可塑材入りのすべり止め付き手袋をはめて使用しないでください。
ケースが破損し、けが、感電、引火の原因となることがあります。

● インタフェースケーブルが傷んだら（芯線の露出、断線など）販売
店に交換を依頼してください。
そのまま使用すると火災の原因となることがあります。

お手入れについて
読み取り口のプレート（透明な部分）にほこり・ごみが付着しますとコードの読み取
りに影響します。
ほこりの多いところでご使用の場合は、読み取り口のプレート（透明な部分）にほこ
りが付いていないか定期的に点検し、ほこりが付着しているときは清掃してください。
・ 清掃の方法は、まずエアーブラシでほこりを飛ばし、綿棒等の柔らかいもので軽く
ふき取ってください。
・ 砂などの硬いものが付着した場合は、こすると読み取り口のプレートに傷が付きま
すのでエアーブラシで砂などを飛ばすか、毛先の柔らかいブラシで掃いて取り除い
てください。

第２章 使用前の準備
動作環境
本製品を使用するには、USBポートを備えた次のホストコンピュータの環境が必要とな
ります。
機種 ：DOS/V機またはNEC PC98-NXシリーズ
OS ：Windows 98/98SE
Windows Me
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows XP Home/Professional

スキャナにUSBインタフェースケーブルを接続する
(1) USBインタフェ―スケーブルのコネクタカバーをコネクタ部からはずします。
(2) ケーブルのコネクタを、スキャナの底面にあるコネクタに接続します。
注意： 図のようにスキャナ本体を持って、スキャナとケーブルの▼マークを合
わせ、奥まで差し込んでください。

第３章 接続とUSB-COMインタフェースのセットアップ
このスキャナはUSB-COMインタフェースでコンピュータと通信します。
USB-COMインタフェースで通信するためには、添付のCD-ROMに含まれているUSB-COMデ
バイスドライバを使用します。弊社ホームページから、ドライバの最新バージョンを
ダウンロードすることもできます。

ダウンロードしたファイルはドライバとアンインストーラが圧縮されたものです。ダ
ウンロードしたファイルを適当なフォルダ内に保存し、ファイルのアイコンをダブル
クリックすると自己解凍されます。
スキャナのインタフェースケーブルをコンピュータのUSBポートに接続すると、「新し
いハードウェアの追加ウィザード」が自動的に起動します。ウィザード画面に従って、
USB-COMデバイスドライバをセットアップしてください。
Windows 98SE、Windows Me、Windows 2000、Windows XPそれぞれのOSでのセットアッ
プ手順を次ページ以降で説明します。

参考： このスキャナはUSBキーボードインタフェース経由でパソコンと通信すること
も可能です。USBキーボードインタフェースで通信するには、USBクラスドライ
バ「HID（ヒューマンインタフェースデバイス）」を使用します。注意事項に
ついては、取扱説明書(別冊)*をご覧ください。

ロードできます。

USBケーブル接続時の注意事項
コンピュータのUSB機器の認識および削除には数秒から10秒程度かかる場合があり
ますので、USBコネクタの抜き差しは10秒以上の間隔をあけて行ってください。
コンピュータの電源がONの状態でもUSBコネクタの抜き差しは可能です。ただし、
コンピュータがスタンバイ(サスペンド)中には、USBコネクタの抜き差しは行わな
いでください。
スキャナの接続処理中に、他のUSB機器の着脱を行わないでください。
通信中にUSBケーブルを取り外すとデータが消失するばかりでなく、システムに影
響を与える可能性がありますので、通信中にUSBケーブルの取り外しは行わないで
ください。
GT10Q-SU/-HUは、コンピュータ本体のUSBポートまたはセルフパワー型ハブに直接
接続してください。ただし、ハブの機種によっては接続できない可能性があります。
動作が不安定の場合は、コンピュータ本体のUSBポートに接続してください。

USB-COMデバイスドライバインストール時の注意
弊社USB-COMデバイスドライバがインストールされていないコンピュータには、電
源投入時からUSBポートにGT10Q-SU/-HUを接続しないでください。Windowsの起動途
中に弊社USB-COMデバイスドライバのインストールが始まってしまい、正しくイン
ストールを終了できません。

弊社USB-COMドライバをインストールできない場合、類似のUSBドライバが使用され
ている可能性があります。その際には、そのUSBドライバをデバイスマネージャか
ら削除してから、再度インストール作業を行ってください。ただし、そのUSBドラ
イバの削除前に、必ずそのUSBドライバが他のデバイスに使用されていないことを
確認してください。

弊社USB-COMドライバを使用する弊社USB製品を既にお使いの場合は、既にインスト
ール済みの弊社USB-COMドライバが自動的に使用されますので、インストール作業
は不要です。
新規にドライバをインストールしたい場合は、先にインストール済みのドライバを
専用のアンインストーラを用いてアンインストールしてください。

Windows 98SE/Me用ドライバ（dwcom9x.ini, dwcom9x.sys, dwport.ini, dwport.vxd）

とWindows 2000/XP用ドライバ（dwcom.ini, dwcom.sys）は、別々のフォルダに保
存してください。 （同じフォルダ内でWindows 98SE/Me用ドライバとWindows 2000/XP
用ドライバの解凍を行わないでください。）

ドライバをインストールする際には，ご利用のWindowsのバージョンに応じたドラ
イバが格納されているフォルダを必ず指定してください。異なるバージョン用のド
ライバをインストールすると、システムに障害を与える可能性があります。
異なるバージョン用のドライバをインストールした場合は，
Windows 98SEでは表示メニューのオプションで「すべてのファイルを表示する」を
選択、
Windows Me/2000/XPではツールメニューのフォルダオプションで「すべてのファイ
ルとフォルダを表示する」を選択し、さらに「保護されたオペレーティングシステ
ムを表示しない」の設定ボックスのチェックマークをはずします。
次に以下の処理をしてください。
- Windows 98SE/MeにWindows 2000/XP用ドライバをインストールした場合
1) デバイスマネージャから， がついた状態のDENSO WAVE USB-COM Portを削除
2) 次の場所に該当するファイルがあれば、それらを削除
C:\Windows\Inf\Other\ DENSO WAVEdwcom.inf
C:\Windows\Inf\ Dwcom.inf, Dwcom.pnf, Dwcom9x.inf,
Dwcom9x.pnf, Dwport.inf, Dwport.pnf
C:\Windows\System\ Dwport.vxd
C:\Windows\Sytem32\drivers\ Dwport.sys
3) コンピュータを再起動

- Windows 2000/XPにWindows 98系用ドライバをインストールした場合

Windows 2000/XPはエラーとなり、ドライバのインストールは行いません。エラ
ー状態から回復するには、以下の手順を行ってください。
1) デバイスマネージャからUSB Device GT10Q-SU/-HUを削除
2) C:\Winnt\Infフォルダから，Dwcom9x.infと同じ内容のOem*.infファイルを削
除（ファイルの検索は，CD内のDwcom9x.infをNote Padで開いて，先頭行の文
字列をコピーし，C:\Winnt\Infフォルダを開き，「検索」で「含まれる文字列」
に貼り付け，検索ボタンを押します。）

 3) 上記フォルダから，Oem*.pnf（*は上記で削除したファイルと同じ数字）を削
除
4) 次の場所に該当するファイルがあれば、それらを削除
C:\Winnt\Inf\ Dwcom.inf, Dwcom.pnf, Dwcom9x.inf
Dwcom9x.pnf, Dwport.inf, Dwport.pnf

（注）Windows XPではC:\Winnt\～がC:\Windows\～となります。
5) コンピュータを再起動
以上の処理の後，再度インストールを行ってください。

インストール手順
以下の手順に従って、付属CD-ROMのドライバをインストールしてください。
● CD-ROM内には、Windows 98SE/Me用ドライバとWindows 2000/XP用ドライバ、および
全てのWindowsで共通使用できる専用アンインストーラが入っています。
● ドライバのアンインストールには、専用アンインストーラを使用してください。
● Windows 2000/XPでは、ドライバのインストールとアンインストールには管理者権限
（Administrator Login）が必要です。

Windows 98SEの場合
(1) コンピュータ本体の電源を入れ、Windows 98SEを起動します。

(2) 圧縮されているドライバは、アイコンをダブルクリックして自己解凍してくださ
い。

(3) GT10Q-SU/-HUをコンピュータ
本体に接続すると、新しいハー
ドウェア「USB Device」の検出
メッセージが表示されます。

(4) 「新しいハードウェアの追加
ウィザード」が起動しますの
で、[次へ＞]をクリックしてく
ださい。

 (5) 「使用中のデバイスに最適な
ドライバを検索する(推奨)」を
選んで、[次へ＞]をクリックし
てください。

(6) 「検索場所の指定(L)」を選び、
Windows 98SE/Me用ドライバの
ある場所を入力してから、[次
へ＞]をクリックしてくださ
い。
(左図はドライバのある場所が
D:\DRIVER\WIN9Xの場合です。)

(7) 更新されたドライバ(推奨)(T)
として「DENSO WAVE USB-COM
Port」が見つかったら、[次へ
＞]をクリックしてください。

(8) 「このドライバに最適なドラ
イバのインストール準備がで
きました」という画面で、
「DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port」
が検索されたことを確認して、
[次へ＞]をクリックしてくだ
さい。

 (9) ドライバのインストールが終
わり、左の画面が表示された
ら、[完了]をクリックしてくだ
さい。
「完了」のクリック後、今イン
ストールしたドライバが作成
する仮想COMポートのインスト
ールに移りますが、そのインス
トールは「不明なデバイス」を
発見した後、すぐに左図のよう
な「DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port」
をインストールするメッセー
ジが出て完了します。

(10) 正常に接続されたかどうかの
確認は、左の「デバイスマネー
ジャ」の画面で行います。
「ポート(COM/LPT)」の項目に
「DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port」
が追加されていれば、正常に接
続できています。
項目が追加されていないか、
や 印になっている場合は、ア
ンインストーラを用いてドラ
イバを削除し、コンピュータを
再起動し、接続をやり直してく
ださい。

Windows Meの場合
(1) コンピュータ本体の電源を入れ、Windows Meを起動します。
(2) 圧縮されているドライバは、アイコンをダブルクリックして自己解凍してくださ
い。
(3) GT10Q-SU/-HUをコンピュータ本体に接続します。

(4) 「新しいハードウェアの追加
ウィザード」画面が表示された
ら、「ドライバの場所を指定す
る(詳しい知識のある方向
け)(S)」を選択し、[次へ＞]
をクリックしてください。

(5) 「検索場所の指定(L)」を選ん
で、Windows 98SE/Me用ドライ
バのある場所を入力して、[次
へ＞]をクリックしてくださ
い。
(左図はドライバのある場所が
D:\DRIVER\WIN9Xの場合です。)

(6) 「このドライバに最適なドラ
イバのインストール準備がで
きました」という画面で、
「DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port」
が検索されたことを確認して、
[次へ＞]をクリックしてくだ
さい。

(1) コンピュータ本体の電源を入れ、Windows 2000を起動します。Administrator権

(2) 圧縮されているドライバは、アイコンをダブルクリックして自己解凍してくださ
い。

(3) GT10Q-SU/-HUをコンピュータ
本 体 に 接 続 す る と 、 「 USB
Device」を検出したというメッ
セージが表示されます。

(4) 「新しいハードウェアの検出
ウィザード」が起動しますの
で、[次へ(N)＞]をクリックし
てください。

(5) 「デバイスに最適なドライバ
を検索する(推奨)(S)」を選ん
で、[次へ(N)＞]をクリックし
てください。

(6) 「場所を指定(S)」を選んで、
[次へ(N)＞]をクリックしてく
ださい。

リックしてください。

「DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port」
が、Microsoft社のデジタル署
名による認証ができないとい
う画面が表示されても、「はい
(Y)」をクリックし、そのまま
インストールを続行してくだ
さい。

(10) ハードウェアの検索ウィザー
ドの完了画面が表示されたら、
「完了」をクリックしてくださ
い。

 (11) 正常に接続されたかどうかの
確認は、左の「デバイスマネー
ジャ」の画面で行います。
「ポート(COM/LPT)」の項目に
「DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port」
が追加されていれば、正常に接
続できています。
項目が追加されていないか、
や 印になっている場合は、ア
ンインストーラを用いてドラ
イバを削除し、コンピュータを
再起動し、接続をやり直してく
ださい。

Windows XPの場合
(1) コンピュータ本体の電源を入れ、Windows XPを起動します。Administrator権限
のあるユーザでログオンしてください。

(2) 圧縮されているドライバは、アイコンをダブルクリックして自己解凍してくださ
い。

(3) GT10Q-SU/-HUをコンピュータ
本体に接続すると、「新しいハ
ードウェアが見つかりました」
というヒントが画面右下のタ
スクトレイに表示されます。

(4) 「新しいハードウェアの検出
ウィザード」が起動しますの
で、「一覧または特定の場所か
らインストールする(詳

第４章 読み取り方
操作手順
(1) 読み取り口をコードに近づけ、トリガスイッチを押してください。トリガスイッ
チの半押しで、読み取り位置を示すマーカが点灯しますので、マーカの中心をコ
ードの中心に合わせてください。
全押しで、読み取るための照明光が照射されコードが読み取れます。（ただし、
連続読み取りモード1、2、オートセンスモードの場合、この操作は不要です。）

(2) 読み取りが正常に完了すると、表示LEDが青色に点灯し、ブザーが鳴り、バイブ
レータが振動します。

注意： マーカの幅よりも、読み取り可能範囲は狭くなっています。
読み取り距離10cmのとき、読み取り可能範囲は約6×4cmです。
注意： マーカの表示範囲は目安であり、読み取り可能範囲内に入ったコードの読
み取りを保証するものではありません。
注意： 多段バーコード読み取りが許可されている場合を除いて、読み取り可能範
囲に入れるコードは１つだけにしてください。同時に２つ以上のコードが
ある場合は読み取れなかったり、交互に読みつづけたりする場合がありま
す。
注意： コードは全方向どちらの向きでも読み取りは可能ですが、マージンを含め
読み取り視野に確実に入る位置で読み取ってください。
注意： スキャナの照明光や室内光とラベルの角度によっては、ラベルで反射した
光が部分的に極めて強くなる鏡面反射が起きて読み取りができないことが
あります。この場合はラベルとスキャナの角度や距離を変えてみてくださ
い。

 読み取りモード
通常読み取り 読み取りが正常に完了したらデータを転送します。

第５章 パラメータの設定
このスキャナは、以下の２通りの方法で通信、コード種類などのパラメータを設定す
ることができます。設定されたパラメータは電源をOFFしても保持されます。

(1) パラメータ設定用のQRコード（QRコードメニュー）を、トリガスイッチを押して
読み取らせて設定できます。（トリガスイッチを押して行います。）
- 本書の付録２のQRコードメニューを使って、基本的な設定が行えます。
(2) 設定ソフト*を使ってコンピュータから設定できます。（そのソフトで一括設定用
QRコードを生成し、スキャナで読み取らせて設定することも可能です。）

無償でダウンロードできます。

以下にQRコードメニューによる設定について説明します。

設定開始 「設定開始」QRコードを読み取らせます。

設定したい項目のQRコードを読み取らせます。

ブザーが３回鳴動

「全デフォルト」を設定すると、QRコードメニューで設定するすべての項目がデフォ
ルトになります。デフォルトはQRコードメニューに< >で示します。

参考：「ブザー音量の調節」
この項目は、「設定開始」「設定終了」QRコードの読み取りは不要です。
「ブザー音量」QRコードを読ませると、ブザー音の大きさが「大」「中」「小」の順(繰
返し)に変わります。工場出荷時は「大」に設定されています。

 通信パラメータの設定

GT10Q-SU/-HUは、USB 1.1に準拠し、コンピュータに専用の仮想COMポートドライバを
インストールすることによって、従来のシリアルポートを利用する通信ソフトから使
用することができます。

使用上の注意
● Windows 2000/XPでは、初めて接続したときや、スキャナの接続ポートを変更したと
きには、使用する前にCOMポート番号をデバイスマネージャ等にて確認してください。
● Windows 98SE/Meでは、OSの仕様上、COMポート番号が自動で割り当てられるためユ
ーザが固定することはできません。そのため、スキャナを初めて接続した場合ある
いは既に接続した状態で下記の操作を行った場合、次回コンピュータ起動時にCOM
ポート番号が変更される可能性があります。初めて接続した場合あるいは下記の操
作を行った際は、コンピュータを再起動させCOMポート番号をコントロールパネルの
システムのデバイスマネージャにてご確認の上、ご使用ください。
- スキャナの接続台数の変更
- スキャナの接続ポートの変更
● 複数の通信ソフトまたは複数のスキャナをホストコンピュータで同時に使用する場
合、各ソフトウェアは必ず別々のCOMポート番号を指定してください。
● 通信用ソフトウェアが起動したままの状態でサスペンドを行った場合、サスペンド
状態が解除されたときに、ホストコンピュータによっては通信できなくなるものが
あります。その場合、そのソフトウェアを一旦閉じ、再度起動し直してください。
● シリアルポートを利用する通信ソフトでの通信速度・データ長、パリティ・ストッ
プビット長などの設定は無視しますので、変更の必要はありません。フロー制御は
“ハードウェア（RTS/CTS）”あるいは“なし”を選択してください。
● コンピュータの仮想COMポートとスキャナは、仮想的に以下のように結線されます。

might be too low to inflict bodily injury. However, do not look into the laser beam
