Fig. 1 Solar Geometric Parameters Illustrated on the Globe shown for AST Noon
Notes: 1. N-S is the axis of the earth for N. Hemisphere; and S-N for S. Hemisphere. 2. In the diagram L is drawn equal to L' for minimizing lines on the diagram, i.e. L=L'=45 deg 3. For Northern Hemisphere :At latitude L, the horizontal plane is making an angle =L with the N-S axis of the earth. At Equator, L=0, the horizontal plane is normal to the equatorial plane, and parallel to the NS axis. At North Pole, L=90, the horizontal plane is parallel to the equtorial plane, and normal to the N-S axis. 4. For Southern Hemisphere :At latitude L', the horizontal plane is making an angle =L' with the N-S azis of the earth. At Equator, L=0, the horizontal pane is normal to the equatorial plane, and parallel to the S-N axis. At South Pole, the horizontal polane is parallel to the equatorial plane, and normal to the S-N axis.
Notes : 1. The diagram assumes the observer on earth is located at the centre of the spherical segment, though not marked. 2. The thick circle represents the horizontal plane containing the observer at the latitude of concern. 3. The circles indicate the sun paths at various days of the year. 4. The arrow shows the direction of the movement of the sun, from East to West relative to the observer. 5. The 12:00 noon AST Curve is set due South
Heliodonii pot simula directia si intensitatea soarelui pt toate combinatiile de zi/ ora/ latitudine.
Formula AREA PQQ'P' = ( MH X MF ) cot h cos( A- ) = area FMHG X cot h cos( A- ) = [a x cot h x cos( A- ) -d] x [ b-d x tan (A- ) ] or = [ a cos( A- ) - d tan h ] x [ b - d tan(A- )] cot h where a - height of window b - thickness of window d - thickness of wall [ Note: in other occasion in this paper, d refers to solar declination angle ] h - solar altitude angle A - soalr azimuth angle - window azimuth angle ( in this case same as. wall azimuth angle )
