SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS FOR PROJECT

MANAGEMENT

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide readers with a comparison of the most popular and
used software tools for project management, in a phased manner, in order to present a detailed and
complete view of the features of these types of software solutions. The research includes a sample of 8
software tools from over 470 such software solutions on the market (according to the source: capterra),
these being compared both theoretically and practically, reaching all the interesting points for the
potential users. Conclusions show that the diversity of software tools makes them suitable for many types
of projects, but also outlines that some software tools lack important features, while others provide
novelty and fluidity in use.

1 INTRODUCERE 1 INTRODUCTION

În procesele decizionale, factorul uman ocupă
poziția centrală, însă metodele cu caracter
predominant calitative necesită o analiză a unui
volum mai mare de date, practic imposibil de
acoperit de factorul uman. Deoarece
managementul de proiect a avut o amploare foarte
mare în ultimii ani, extinzându-se și în domeniul
IT, au apărut o multitudine de soluții software
destinate acestui domeniu. Anumite surse de
specialitate clasifică și prezintă aceste soluții
software, împreună cu caracteristicile pe care le
oferă, permițând totodată utilizatorilor să ofere
review-uri. Pentru a realiza lucrarea de față, care
prezintă o comparație a celor mai utilizate
instrumente software destinate managementului de

factor occupies the central position, but methods
with predominant qualitative character need an
analysis of a larger data volume, practically
impossible to be covered by the human factor.
Because project management suffered a large
extension in the past recent years, expanding in
the IT field, a multitude of software solutions
have emerged in this area. Certain specialized
sources classify and present these software
solutions, along with the features they offer,
while allowing users to provide reviews. To
accomplish this paper, which shows a
comparison of the most commonly used software

prezintă peste 470 de produse.
Aspectele care au prezentat interes pentru
comparația de față se pot rezuma succint la etapele
managementului de proiect, care sunt: inițierea și
definirea proiectului, faza de planificare a unui
proiect, faza de execuție sau realizare, faza de
control și evaluare și faza de finalizare a proiectului.
2 PREZENTAREA GENERALĂ A
PRODUSELOR
Soluțiile software care au fost programate să
asiste managerii de proiecte, au început să se
diversifice în jurul anului 1977, ajungând astăzi să
reprezinte un domeniu distinct al programelor
software, eterogen și potrivit pentru orice tip de
proiect. Conform unui aticol referitor la sistemele
de suport decizionale, caracteristicile principale ale
acestora sunt: ameliorarea eforturilor, amplificarea
capacităților factorilor de decizie, neavând ca scop
înlocuirea sau transformarea omului în simplu
agent care adoptă soluții mecanice furnizate de
calculator.
Datorită acestei dezvoltări în continuă
creștere, este aproape imposibilă, în ziua de azi,
realizarea unei comparații a tuturor instrumentelor
software privitoare la managementul de proiect. În
primul rând această comparație ar necesita o
cantitate foarte mare de timp, iar în al doilea rând,
eterogenitatea lor le face potrivite pentru mai multe
tipuri de proiecte, astfel că, în anumite cazuri,
comparația ar fi derizorie, capacitățile și
destinațiile de utilizare ale soluțiilor software fiind
mult prea divergente. De aceea am decis să realizez
un clasament al celor mai achiziționate, accesate și
populare instrumente software, bazat pe analiza
mai multor surse de specialitate care oferă
informații utile despre performanța acestora, păreri
ale utilizatorilor și date statistice ce îmi vor folosi
pentru realizarea clasamentului.
După studierea a 12 instrumente software
privind managementul de proiect (exclusiv
Microsoft Project), am considerat ca fiind cel mai
util să analizăm practic primele șapte variante, în
comparație cu MS Project. Această decizie este

specialty sources that feature over 470 products.
The issues that presented interest for this
comparison can be briefly summarized at the
project management stages, which are: project
initiation and definition, the project planning stage,
the execution or realization phase, the control and
evaluation phase and the completion phase project.
2 GENERAL VIEW OF THE PRODUCTS
Software solutions that were programmed to
assist project managers began to diversify around
1977, becoming, in the present, a distinct field of
software programs, heterogeneous and suiteable
for any type of project. According to an article
regarding the decision support systems, their
main characteristics are: effort improvement,
capacity enhancement of decision-makers, not
having the purpose of replacing or transforming
man into a simple agent that adopts mechanical
solutions provided by the computer.
Due to this continuous growing
development, it is almost impossible today to
make a comparison of all software tools related
to project management. First of all, this
comparison would require a very large amount of
time, and secondly, their heterogeneity makes
them suitable for several types of projects, so in
some cases the comparison would be ridiculous,
the capabilities and the destinations of use of the
software solutions being too divergent. That's
why I decided to make a ranking of the most
purchased, accessed and popular software tools,
based on the analysis of several specialized
sources that provide useful information about
their performance, user opinions and statistical
data, which will be useful for the make the
ranking.
After studying 12 project management
software tools (excluding Microsoft Project), I
considered it is most useful to analyze the first
seven variants, compared to MS Project. This
decision is justified by the diversity of the first
eight solutions, diversity that embraces the whole
set of features needed to be studied, and it is not
necessary to extend to the other four existing
softwares, that I found either similar to those

caracteristicilor ce trebuie studiate, nefiind
necesară extinderea la celelalte patru softuri
existente, pe care le-am regăsit fie asemănătoare cu
cele studiate fie mult prea simple în caracteristici.
Criteriile de alegere pe care le-am luat în
considerare au fost: caracteristicile generale ale
produselor (70%), locurile pe care se situează în
două clasamente realizate de site-uri de specialitate
(5% fiecare: capterra.com și financesonline.com),
serviciu clienți și ușurința în utilizare (5% fiecare)
și numărul de utilizatori și de clienți pe care îi
atinge programul (reprezentând câte 5% fiecare).
Criteriile clasamentului realizat provin din
studierea, în amănunt, a două surse externe de
informare, mai precis, două clasamente, prezentate
pe două site-uri de specialitate (capterra și
financesonline), care afișează informații despre
produsele software destinate managementului de
proiect.
Caracteristicile generale dețin procentul cel
mai mare în evaluarea produselor, deoarece
prezența sau absența acestora le poate face să
îndeplinească sau nu anumite rigori ale
managementului de proiect. Fiecare caracteristică
deține un procent de 5%, așadar, fiecare
caracteristică este, în clasamentul realizat, la fel de
importantă precum celelalte criterii avute în
vedere.
Caracteristicile generale cuprind:
managementul bugetului, bug tracking, soluții de
colaborare în cadrul proiectului, existența
graficelor Gantt, managementul ideii,
managementul problemelor (supraalocărilor),
urmărirea punctelor cheie (milestone tracking),
urmărirea gradului de realizare al proiectului,
managementul portofoliului, managementul
resurselor, urmărirea realizării proiectului prin
schimbarea statusului activităților, managementul
activităților, managementul testării și al evaluării și
urmărirea timpului și al decalajelor de timp.
Pentru a vizualiza cât mai bine clasamentul
realizat cu ajutorul acestor criterii, am introdus un
grafic, care să reliefeze ordinea instrumentelor
software analizate. Scorul final reprezintă scorul
obținut în urma calculării procentajelor atribuite
după evaluarea produselor în funcție de criteriile
specificate.

software products for project management.
The general characteristics have the highest
percentage of product evaluation, because their
presence or absence can make them fulfill or not
certain project management requirements. Each
feature holds 5%, so each feature is, in the
conducted ranking, as important as the other
criteria considered.
General features include: budget
management, bug tracking, collaboration
solutions within the project, Gantt graphs, idea
management, issue management (over-
allocation), milestone tracking, project tracking,
portfolio management, resource management ,

evaluation management, and tracking time and
time lag.
In order to best view the rankings achieved
using these criteria, I have introduced a chart to
highlight the order of the analyzed software tools.
The final score is the score obtained by
calculating the percentages awarded after the
products have been evaluated according to the
specified criteria.

Conform graficului de mai sus (Figura 1),
primele opt produse destinate managementului
proiectelor, exclusiv MS Project, sunt: Teamwork,
Targetprocess, Asana, Wrike, Smartsheet, JIRA
oferit de Atlassian și Mavenlink. Toate aceste
produse prezentate sunt potrivite pentru a realiza un
proiect în vederea comparării practice a capacității
de asistare a unui manager de proiect.
Microsoft Project este un produs software
destinat managementului de proiect, proiectat să
asiste managerii de proiect în ceea ce privește
conceperea și implementarea unui proiect, permițând
realizarea unui plan temporal, vizibil în graficul
Gantt, atribuirea de resurse activităților introduse,
urmărirea progresului realizat, managementul de cost,
analizarea și rezolvarea supraalocărilor de resurse.
Produsul Teamwork, cu cel mai ridicat scor în
clasamentul prezentat anterior, este foarte bogat,
fiind însoțit atât de instrumente clasice cât și de cele
avansate, având totodată o interfață foarte
prietenoasă și ușoară. Se pot organiza proiecte,
echipe și calendare și se poate colabora ușor cu
membrii echipei sau cu clienții.

According to the above graph (Figure 1), the
first eight project management products, MS
Project exclusive, are: Teamwork, Targetprocess,
Asana, Wrike, Smartsheet, JIRA offered by
Atlassian and Mavenlink. All of these products
are well suited to design a project in order to
compare practically the ability to assist a project
manager.
Microsoft Project is a project management
software designed to assist project managers in
designing and implementing a project, enabling a
timely plan, visible in the Gantt chart, resource
allocation of inputs, tracking progress, cost
management, analyzing and resolving over-
allocation of resources.
Teamwork, with the highest score in the
previous table, is a very rich product,
accompanied by both classical and advanced
tools, while having a very friendly and easy
interface. It provides a base to organize projects,
teams and calendars and ensure an easily
collaboration with team members or clients.

Targetprocess este destinat în special
managementului agil de proiect, facilitând
vizualizarea activităților. Targetprocess este foarte
focusat pe vizualizarea întregului proiect, a întregii
organizații sau a tuturor echipelor de lucru, facilitând
conectarea tuturor acestor elemente. Programul este
foarte flexibil adaptându-se după stilul de
management abordat sau după structura organizației.
Următorul în clasamentul realizat este software-
ul Asana, unul dintre cele mai populare software-uri
de management de proiect existente pe piața actuală.
Asana permite echipelor de proiect să urmărească
toată evoluția proiectului pe parcursul realizării lui.
Este recunoscut ca o aplicație destinată
managementului de proiect sau de activități care
facilitează foarte mult comunicarea și colaborarea
între membrii echipei.
Wrike este, de asemenea, o soluție software
foarte apreciată de către utilizatori datorită interfeței
prietenoase și măsurilor foarte bune de securitate,
care garantează integritatea informației stocate.
Panoul de lucru se împarte în trei vizualizări, unul
cuprinzând subactivitățile sau lista de proiecte, al
doilea afișând lista de activități a proiectului, iar cel
de-al treilea panou cuprinzând detaliile legate de
activitatea selectată.
Următorul în clasamentul personal este softul
Smartsheet, un instrument destinat managementului
de proiect, fiind accesibil online, bazându-se pe
tehnologia cloud, dar având și aplicație mobilă,
pentru a facilita comunicarea în echipă și urmărirea
progresului realizat. Softul Smartsheet se prezintă sub
formă tabelară și permite introducerea oricăror
variabile în proiect, dar privează utilizatorii de alte
facilități precum managementul unui portofoliu de
proiect.
JIRA Atlassian este un produs software destul
de popular în rândul companiilor. JIRA este definit
pentru a ajuta utilizatorii să seteze, să delege sau să
stabilească prioritățile activităților din cadrul
proiectului. Permite gestionarea întregului proces de
planificarea și implementare al proiectului,
asigurându-se că toate aspectele sunt verificate, de la
concept la implementare. Este un soft simplu, cu o
interfață intuitivă, care permite colaborarea cu
ceilalți colegi ai echipei și permite realizarea
obiectivelor într-o manieră cât mai eficientă.
Mavenlink este un sistem online destinat
managementului de proiect, considerat foarte
puternic, deoarece combină operațiuni avansate

Next in the rankings is the Asana software,
one of the most popular project management
software on the current market. Asana allows
project teams to keep track of the project's
progress throughout the project. It is recognized
as an application for project or activities
management that greatly facilitate
communication and collaboration among team
members.
Wrike is also a very popular software
solution thanks to its user-friendly interface and
very good security measures that guarantee the
integrity of stored information. The worksheet is
divided into three views, one containing the sub-
activities or the list of projects, the second
showing the activity list of the project, and the
third panel containing the details of the selected
activity.
The next in the personal ranking is the
Smartsheet software, a tool for project
management, being accessible online, based on
the cloud technology, but with a mobile
application to facilitate team communication and
track progress. The Smartsheet software
interface is tabular and allows the input of any
variables in the project, but deprives users of
other facilities such as portfolio management.
JIRA Atlassian is a fairly popular software
product among companies. JIRA is defined to
help users set, delegate, or prioritize project
activities. It allows managing the entire project
planning and implementation process, ensuring
that all aspects are verified, from concept to
implementation. It is a simple software with an
intuitive interface that allows you to collaborate
with other team colleagues and allows you to
achieve goals in the most efficient way.
Mavenlink is an online project management
system that is considered very powerful because
it combines advanced project management-

managementul financiar. Printre avantajele
colaborării posibile între membrii echipei se numără
și centralizarea și prioritatea tuturor conversațiilor,
activităților, ori aspectelor financiare într-un singur
loc, devenit astfel, mai vizibil.
Se remarcă, de asemenea faptul ca majoritatea
instrumentelor sunt de tipul OpenSource sau bazate
pe tehnologia Cloud, ele neimplicând costuri de
utilizate (în anumite cazuri, sau avand o diferență
semnificativ mai mică) si fiind totodată flexibile si
stabile. Printre principalele facilități ale acestor tipuri
de instrumente se numără: reducerea costurilor,
adaptabilitatea, reducerea energiei, uniformitatea
soluțiilor și utilizarea concomitentă a diferitelor
soluții.

It is also noted that most of the tools are
OpenSource-based or Cloud-based, that involve
not costs (in some cases, or significantly less in
other) but being flexible and established. Among
the key drivers of these types of instruments there
are: reducing cost, adaptability, energy reduction,
uniformity of solutions and concurrent use of
different solutions.

În figura numărul 2 se observă faptul că JIRA
de la Atlassian are cei mai mulți utilizatori
(45.500.000), de doua ori mai mulți decât
Microsoft Project (22.000.000) sau Basecamp
(15.000.000), restul având un număr de maxim
2.660.000 utilizatori.
3 COMPARAȚIE PRACTICĂ A
CARACTERISTICILOR
INSTRUMENTELOR SOFTWARE
DESTINATE MANAGEMENTULUI DE
PROIECT
Conform clasamentului realizat, în funcție de
criterii alese după studierea celor două surse de
specialitate, am constatat că primele instrumente
software destinate managementului de proiect au fost
Teamwork, Targetprocess, Asana, Wrike,
Smartsheet, JIRA și Mavelink. Toate acestea
instrumente au fost comparate, în ceea ce privește
capacitatea de asistare a unui manager de proiect,
între ele și cu MS Project, soluție soft pe care am
considerat-o ca fiind de referință în domeniu.
Facilitățile care se regăsesc la majoritatea
programelor sunt: managementul bugetului,
colaborarea, posibilitatea de transmitere a fișierelor,
vizualizarea Gantt Chart, managementul conflictelor,
urmărirea punctelor de reper, urmărirea procentajelor
de completare a activității, managementul de
portofoliu, urmărirea statutului proiectului,
managementul activității, managementul resurselor,
planificarea proiectului și urmărirea proiectului în
timp real și a cheltuielilor proiectului. Există, în
schimb anumite caracteristici care se regăsesc
îndeosebi la programele axate pe managementul agil
de proiect, sau care includ și acest tip de

Figure 2 shows that JIRA Atlassian has the

3 PRACTICAL COMPARISON OF THE
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
SOFTWARE
According to the ranking, conducted by the
criteria chosen after studying the two specialized
sources, I found that the first software tools for
project management were Teamwork,
Targetprocess, Asana, Wrike, Smartsheet, JIRA
and Mavelink. All of these tools have been
compared in terms of the ability to assist a
project manager with each other and with MS
Project, a software solution that i have considered
to be a reference in the field.
The facilities found in most programs are:
budget management, collaboration, file transfer,
Gantt Chart view, issues management, milestone
tracking, percentage tracking, portfolio
management, project status tracking, activity
management, resource management, project
planning and real time project tracking and
project costs. There are, in turn, some features
that are particularly found in programs dedicated
for agile project management or that include this
type of management, features such as: bug
tracking, idea management, requirements
management, and testing management.
In order to better outline the presence or
absence of these facilities, I decided to insert a
table (Table 1) that will cover these aspects,
which are presented in detail below.

proiect, am împărțit-o în mai multe etape, anume:

changes on the implicit work options, but they
allow key project information to be entered
(generally project name, description, comments,
photo, attachments and the name of the project
manager), the start date of the project (Including
Asana, JIRA and Smartsheet) and the end date of
the project (this can only be added to
Targetprocess, Wrike and Mavelink). Also, when
a new project is added, it is also required to enter
the email addresses of the new team members so
that they can be invited and collaborate on the
work platform. Certain software programs allow
you to choose how to work within the project,
using the Scrum or Kanban method
(Targetprocess and JIRA). The Mavelink software
allows you to change some initial parameters such
as working days, work currency, inclusion or
exclusion of budget items such as spending, etc.
Regarding the planning part of a project, I
divided it into several stages, namely: the
introduction and organization of activities, the
development of activities, the creation and
modification of resources, the allocation of
resources and the introduction of costs. The first
step, introducing and organizing activities,
captures the introduction and editing of the
activities into the program, respectively editing

introducerea activităților în program și editarea lor,
respectiv editarea tipului de activitate care este
introdus și indexarea lor. Toate instrumentele studiate
permit introducerea activităților, dar există câteva
diferențieri evidențiate. În primul rând, introducerea
activităților se poate face diferit în funcție de
instrumentul ales, spre exemplu, în MS Project și
Smartsheet activitățile se vor introduce în tabelul de
intrare al activităților. În Teamwork și Asana se pot
crea liste de activități sau activități sumatoare și
activități de detaliu, pe mai multe nivele. Software-ul
Targetprocess împarte intrările în mai multe categorii,
astfel că activităților pot fi introduse atât ca User
Stories sau ca Task-uri (user stories cuprind mai
multe activități, iar task-urile o singură activitate).
User stories pot avea în componența lor Task-uri,
așadar vor fi folosite ca activități sumatoare, deoarece
task-urile nu por fi adăugate decât pe două nivele.
Atât Targetprocess, cât și JIRA permit adăugarea de
activități pe coloane care definesc progresul
activităților care sunt trecute în ele (Tod do, În
progress și Done). Există, de asemenea posibilitatea
adăugării de subactivități. Wrike și Mavelink permit
adăugarea de activități sumatoare și subactivitati pe
mai multe nivele și în mai multe vizualizări.
Activitățile repetitive sunt o opțiune care
însoțesc majoritatea programelor (în afară de JIRA,
Smartsheet, Wrike, Targetprocess), dar punctele de
reper pot fi adăugate și urmărite în cadrul tuturor
instrumentelor studiate (exclusiv JIRA).
În ceea ce privește desfășurarea activităților,
dependențele între activități se pot adăuga în cadrul
instrumentului MS Project (patru feluri de
dependențe: final-final, start-start, start-final, final-
start), Teamwork (predecesori), Targetprocess și
Wrike (predecesori și succesori). Încadrarea în timp,
durata sau estimarea temporală a activității pot fi
adăugate în toate instrumentele care au fost
prezentate, exclusiv Asana, care nu permite
adăugarea unei estimări temporale a necesarului de
muncă.
Resursele care sunt necesare realizării unui
proiect pot fi de mai multe feluri, MS Project
clasificându-le în trei tipuri resurse umane, resurse
materiale și resurse de tip cost. Bineînțeles că, în
acest program, pot fi adăugate toate tipurile de
resurse într-o vizualizare distinctă dedicată adăugării
și modificării resurselor. Celelalte softuri permit doar
adăugarea unor resurse umane, ca utilizatori, care vor

the type of activity being introduced and indexing
them. All the instruments studied allow the
introduction of activities, but there are several
distinctions highlighted. First of all, the
introduction of activities can be different
depending on the instrument chosen, for example,
in MS Project and Smartsheet the activities will
be entered in the input table of activities.
Teamwork and Asana can create lists of activities
or summaring up activities and detailed activities
on multiple levels. Targetprocess software splits
entries into multiple categories, so activities can
be entered as either User Stories or as Tasks (user
stories include multiple activities, and tasks
include a single activity). User stories can have
Tasks in their composition, so they will be used as
summaring up activities because tasks can only be
added on two levels. Both Targetprocess and
JIRA allow adding activities into columns that
define the progress of the activities that are
passed to them (Tod do, In progress, and Done).
There is also the possibility of adding
subactivities. Wrike and Mavelink allow
summaring up activities and sub-activities on
multiple levels and in multiple views.
Repetitive activities are an option that
accompanies most programs (except JIRA,
Smartsheet, Wrike, Targetprocess), but milestones
can be added and tracked across all the tools
studied (except JIRA).
Regarding the conduction of the activities,
dependencies can be added to the MS Project tool
(four types of dependencies: finish- finish, start-
start, start-finish, finish-start), Teamwork
(predecessors), Targetprocess and Wrike
(predecessors and successors). Timing, duration,
or time estimation of the activity labor can be
added to all of the tools that have been submitted,
except Asana, which does not allow the addition
of a time estimation of the labor work.
The resources that are needed to complete a
project can be classified in several types, MS
Project classifying them into three types: human
resources, material resources and cost resources.
Of course, in this program, all the types of
resources can be added to a distinct view
dedicated to adding and modifying resources.
Other softwares only allow the addition of human
resources as users who will be able to modify the

avea posibilitatea modificării proiectului, în condițiile
oferite de administrator. Aceștia vor avea integritate
asupra contului propriu. De asemenea, modificarea
informațiilor personale se poate face ori de către
manager, ori de către utilizatori, în funcție de
program. Ştergerea resursei se poate face numai de
către managerul de proiect (administratorul spațiului
de lucru). Resursele umane devin active când își vor
accesa contul din emailul personal. Smartsheet este
singurul care nu permite modificarea sau ștergerea de
resurse.
Alocarea resurselor se realizează din cadrul
activități la care se dorește alocarea resursei. Aceasta
se face fie într-o vizualizare de tip tabel (MS Project,
Smartsheet) sau într-o fereastră de editare a activității
(restul instrumentelor soft). În general se pot asocia
mai multe resurse care să fie responsabile de o
activitate, în afară de software-ul JIRA. Dacă se
lucrează în MS Project, în momentul alocării unor
resurse umane se va ține cont de mai mulți
parametrii, precum durata activității, munca care
trebuie depusă și unitățile care trebuie realizate.
Unitățile sunt egale cu munca înmulțita cu durata
activității. De aceea, în momentul alocării mai multor
resurse se poate opta pentru modificarea unui
parametru și menținerea valorii altuia. Tot aici, dacă
se vor aloca resurse materiale se vor lua în
considerare și cantitatea lor, iar în cazul resurselor tip
cost se va introduce o valoare de cost. În cazul
celorlalte instrumente software se pot aloca doar
resurse umane, fără a modifica durata sau estimarea
de muncă necesară pentru realizarea activității.
Utilizatorii astfel alocați vor introduce perioade de
timp în care au lucrat la o anumită activitate, iar, în
momentul finalizării unei activități se va modifica
statusul activității în completed/done. Anumite
instrumente permit adăugarea de urmăritori ai
activității, iar majoritatea instrumentelor permit
atașarea unei etichete care poate fi și resursă umană.
Costurile, în aceste software-uri destinate
managementului de proiect, se pot asocia atât
activităților, cât și resurselor. De asemenea, unele
programe permit crearea de facturi, pentru proiectele
realizate cu ajutorul lor, facturi care să cuprindă
cheltuielile realizate în cadrul proiectului. MS Project
este cel mai complex program care permite atașarea
costurilor într-un mod foarte variat, de la costuri fixe
per activitate, la costuri orare ale resurselor umane,
costuri/unitatea de măsură ale resurselor materiale,

Allocation of the resources is pursued from
the activity row/window, where the resource is
intended to be allocated. This is done either in a
tabular view (MS Project, Smartsheet) or in an
activity editing window (the rest of the software
tools). In general, you can associate more
resources that are responsible for an activity,
except for the JIRA software. When working in
MS Project, and allocating human resources,
more parameters will be taken into account, such
as the duration of the work, the work that has to
be done (measured in hours usually) and the units
to be achieved. Units are equal to work multiplied
by the duration of the activity. Therefore, when
allocating more resources, you can choose to
change a parameter and maintain the value of
another. Also here, if material resources are
allocated, their quantity will also be taken into
account, and in the case of cost resources a cost
value will be introduced.
For other software tools, only human
resources can be allocated without having the
posibility to change the duration or work
estimation required to perform the activity.
Assigned users will enter periods of their worked
time on a particular activity, and when the activity
is completed, the status of the activity will be
changed in completed / done. Certain tools allow
the addition of trackers of an activity, and most
tools allow the attachment of a label that can also
be a human resource.
The costs in these project management
software can be associated with both activities
and resources. Some programs also allow invoices
to be created for an entire project, invoices that
cover all the expenses incurred in the project. MS
Project is the most sophisticated program that
allows costs to be attached in a wide variety, from

proiectul. În cazul în care costurile se asociază cu
resursele (costuri orare ale resurselor umane,
cost/unitatea de măsură ale resurselor materiale,
costuri specifice ale resurselor tip cost, cost/utilizare
pentru orice tip de resursă), fiind introduse în foaia
resurselor, iar ulterior resursele vor fi alocate unor
activități, aceste costuri vor fi generate automat și
calculate în funcție de numărul de unități alocate.
Teamwork și Mavelink permit, de asemenea
asocierea costurilor cu resursele umane (costuri
orare) sau introducerea unor cheltuieli de
proiect/activitate, care vor fi cumulate întregului
proiect. Targetprocess, Wrike, Asana și JIRA nu
permit adăugarea de costuri. Smartsheet permite
adăugarea de costuri la activități și, ulterior, realizarea
unei sume totale, dar nu permite asocierea de costuri
cu resursele umane.
În cadrul fazei de execuție a unui proiect este
foarte important să urmărim căile de comunicare pe
care le avem la dispoziție, raportarea și efectele
eventualelor modificări, pentru a putea eficientiza
realizarea proiectului. MS Project pune la dispoziție o
serie de extensii prin care se poate comunica la
nivelul echipei, sau varianta Server care permite atât
comunicare la nivelul echipei, cât și lucru colaborativ
la același proiect. Teamwork facilitează comunicarea
între membrii echipei printr-o vizualizare în care se
pot trimite și primi mesaje. În software-ul
Targetprocess și Wrike, colaborarea se poate face pe
baza comentariilor adăugate la activități. Asana
permite atât comunicarea prin intermediul
conversațiilor, într-o vizualizare dedicată special
conversațiilor între membrii echipei, cât și
comunicarea prin intermediul comentariilor adăugate
la activitățile proiectului. JIRA vine, de obicei cu
extensia Confluence, creată special pentru a facilita
comunicarea între membrii echipei și transmiterea de
fișiere. Mavelink și Smartsheet nu permit
comunicarea între membrii echipei.
În ceea ce privește raportarea, MS Project pune
la dispoziție o serie întreagă de rapoarte care pot fi
generate, dar și posibilitatea creării unor rapoarte
personalizate. În Teamwork nu se pot crea raportări,
dar anumite liste pot fi exportate în mai multe
formate și pot să constituie conținutul unor raportări.
Targetprocess, JIRA și Wrike pun la dispoziția
utilizatorului mai multe tipuri de rapoarte, care pot fi

fixed costs per activity to hourly cost of human
resources, cost / unit of material resources,
specific costs of the cost type resources, cost / use
for any type of resource or cost throughout the
project. If costs are associated with resources
(human resource hourly costs, cost / unit of
measure of material resources, specific costs of
cost type resources, cost / use for any type of
resource), they are entered in the resource sheet
and later resources will be allocated to activities,
these costs will be generated automatically and
calculated according to the number of units
allocated. Teamwork and Mavelink also allow the
association of human resources costs (hourly
costs) or the introduction of project / activity
costs that will be aggregated for the whole
project. Targetprocess, Wrike, Asana, and JIRA
do not allow costs to be added. Smartsheet allows
the addition of costs to activities, and then the
realization of a total amount, but it does not allow
the introduction of the human resources costs.
During the project execution phase, it is very
important to follow the communication paths we
have at our disposal, the reporting and the effects
of possible changes in order to make the project
more efficient. MS Project provides a number of
team comunnication extensions, or the Server
variant that allows both team communication and
collaborative work on the same project.
Teamwork facilitates communication between
team members through a view where messages
can be sent and received. In Targetprocess and
Wrike software, collaboration can be done based
on comments added to activities. Asana allows
both communication through conversations, in a
dedicated view especially for conversations
between team members, as well as
communication through comments added to
project activities. JIRA comes, usually with the
Confluence extension, specifically designed to
facilitate team communication and file transfer.
Mavelink and Smartsheet do not allow
communication between team members.
As far as reporting is concerned, MS Project
provides a whole range of reports that can be
generated, as well as the possibility of creating
customized reports. Teamwork can not create
reports, but some lists can be exported in multiple
formats and may be the content of the reports.

ulterior exportate, acestea referindu-se, în general la
situația activităților. Mavelink permite crearea de
rapoarte analitice (cheltuieli, facturi, intrări, raportări
detaliate privind proiectul) și care cuprind aspect
legate de resurse (utilizarea resurselor, time
trackingul și time approval).
Evaluarea proiectului se realizează în cadrul
instrumentelor studiate prin compararea planului final
cu planificarea inițială, sau utilizând rapoartele pe
care acestea le generează. Finalizarea proiectului
implică, în cadrul MS Project salvarea ultimei
variante de proiect ca template, pentru utilizări
viitoare, iar în cazul celorlalte instrumente studiate
finalizarea proiectului se face modificând statusul
proiectului în completed/done, iar ulterior ștergerea
sau arhivarea acestuia (dacă se dorește).

Targetprocess, JIRA, and Wrike provide the user
with several types of reports, which can then be
exported, generally referring to the activity status.
Mavelink allows you to create analytical reports
(costs, invoices, inputs, detailed project reports)
or reports regarding resources, time tracking and
time-approval.
Project evaluation is carried out within the
tools studied by comparing the final plan with the
initial planning, or using the reports generated. The
completion of the project involves, in MS Project,
the saving of the last project as a template for
future use, and in the case of the other tools
studied, the completion of the project is made by
modifying the status of the project in completed /
done, and then deleting or archiving it (if desired).
