Much, Many, Little, Few, A Lot, Plenty

Much și little se utilizează cu substantive nenumărabile.

Exemple: much time, much luck, little energy, little money
Many și few se utilizează cu substantive la plural.
Exemple: many friends, many people, few cars, few countries
A lot (of), lots (of), plenty (of) se utilizează cu substantive
nenumărabile la plural.
Exemple: a lot of luck, but lots of people. Lots of time, but lots of
books. Plenty of money, but plenty of ideas.
Plenty = more than enough.
Exemple: There is no need to hurry. We have plenty of time.
Much și many se utilizează, de regulă, în interogări și negații.
Exemple: We didn’t spend much money. / Have you got many
friends?
A lot (of) se utilizează, de obicei, în propoziții pozitive.
Exemple: We spent a lot of money. There has been a lot of rain
recently.
Little și few se utilizează în propoziții negative.
Exemple: Hurry up! We’ve got little time (=not much, not enough
time).
În schimb, a little și a few evidențiază ideile pozitive. A little/a few =
some, a small amount.
Exemple: Let’s go and have a coffee. We’ve got a little time before the
train leaves (=enough time for a coffee).
