 I. Religia - Definiție și etimologie
• Religia este credința în supranatural, sacru sau divin, și codul moral, practicile de ordin
ritual, dogmele, valorile și instituțiile asociate cu aceast ă credin ță. În cursul dezvolt ării
sale religia a luat un imens număr de forme în diverse culturi sau persoane.

• Cunântul religie, vine din limba latină, fie din “re-legio” (re-citire, refeindu-se la
repetarea scripturilor), fie din “re-ligio” (a lega, a conecta, a reface leg ătura cu
Dumnezeu)

• Religia este, la nivel de discurs, expresia simbolic ă a unei încrederi în existen ța unei
realități absolute (Sacrul, Supremul, Dumnezeul) de care omul ar depinde. Aceast ă
încredere este credința religioasă. Ea permite omului s ă se orienteze în labirintul
marilor întrebări ale vieții și dă omului un sens existen ței sale care dep ășe ște via ța sa
biologică.
II. Sacrul și profanul – Două moduri de a fi în lume

„Sacrul şi profanul sunt două modalităţi de a fi în Lume, dou ă situa ţii existen ţiale asumate
de om de-a lungul istoriei sale. Ele nu prezintă interes doar pentru istoria religiilor sau
pentru sociologie, nu fac doar obiectul unor studii istorice, sociologice, etnologice. De
fapt, cele două moduri de a fi, sacrul şi profanul, sunt determinate de diferitele pozi ţii pe
care omul le-a cucerit în Cosmos şi sunt importante atât pentru filozofi, cât şi pentru orice
cercetător care doreşte să cunoască dimensiunile posibile ale existen ţei umane.“

 III. Literatura religioasă
• Literatura română poartă ca marcă specific ă în sec. al XVII-lea dimensiunea religioas ă a
existenței. Din secolul al XVII-lea, limba slavonă este înlocuită treptat cu limba română.

• În aceeași perioadă, literatura religioasă ia o dezvoltare foarte însemnat ă, tip ărindu-se

cărți religioase pentru a încreștina poporul: cazanii (evanghelii explicate), pravile (legi)
și didahii (predici). Din acest timp avem cea dintâi Biblie complet ă: Biblia lui Ștefan
(1688), Psalmii lui David apar în Transilvania (1651) într-o traducere tipărită la
Bălgrad(Alba Iulia) și în Moldova în cele două traduceri ale lui Dosoftei. Noul
Testament este, însă, cartea cea mai răspândită, dar nicio traducere nu a fost tip ărit ă
în Moldova.

• Reprezentanți semnificativi în promovarea limbii române și a credin ței cre știne sunt:
Mitropolitul Varlaam, Mitropolitul Dosoftei și Anitim Ivireanul.
 Mitropolitul Varlaam
Viața
• Mitropolitul Varlam(pe numele de mirean Vasile Moțoc) a fost unul dintre cei mai mari ierarhi ai Bisericii
Ortodoxe Române din intreaga sa isorie.

• S-a născut în județul Vrancea în anul 1580 dintr-o familie de țărani foarte iubitoare de Hristos.

• A intrat în monahism la schitul Zosim, pe valea pârâului Secu, unde a învățat greaca și slavona.

• Tânărul Vasile Moțoc a intrat în obștea noii m ăn ăstiri, unde a fost c ălug ărit cu numele de Varlaam. Fiind
un bun povățuitor, a ajuns pe treptele ecleziastice cele mai înalte, fiind numit egumen al mănăstirii.

• A fost unul din întemeietorii limbii române literare. Printre altele, a tradus în române ște Scara Sf. Ioan
din Sinai.

• După ce a fost sfetnic al domnitorului Miron Barnovski al Moldovei , a devenit mitropolit al Moldovei
între anii 1632-1653.
 Mitropolitul Varlaam
Viață și realizări
• Ca nou mitropolit, Varlaam reușește înființarea primei tipografii românești din Moldova, în anul 1640,
pe care a instalat-o la Mănăstirea "Sfinții Trei Ierarhi" din Ia și.

• În timpul Mitropolitului Varlaam al Moldovei a fost zidit ă frumoasa și renumita biseric ă a M ăn ăstirii
„Sfinții Trei Ierarhi” din Iași, ctitoria cea mai cunoscut ă a lui Vasile Lupu.

• S-a ocupat de organizarea Sinodului de la Iași din 1642. S-a îngrijit de construc ția bisericii Sf. Trei Ierarhi
din Iași, unde a așezat moaștele Sf. Parascheva.

• A contribuit la înființarea Academiei Domne ști de la Ia și. S-a retras la Mănăstirea Secu în 1653, după ce
voievodul Vasile Lupu a pierdut scaunul domnesc. Acolo a mai trăit patru ani, în smerenie, în rug ăciune
și în viețuire sfântă, murind în luna august a anului 1657.

• Toate cele agonisite în timpul vieții sale le-a d ăruit M ăn ăstirii Secu. A fost înmormântat în zidul de
miazăzi al bisericii Mănăstirii Secu.

Cazania a fost tiparită în 1643 și este un monument de limb ă veche român ă. Volumul cuprinde 75
de predici care se rostesc duminica și în cele mai importante sărb ători ale anului.

Nicolae Iorga, în Istoria literaturii românești. Introducere sintetică, afirmă că această lucrare arată ce
legături existau cândva între toți românii; ” Este o operă de unitate națională, o unitate care se face
în suflete, pentru că ardeleanul cere același grai pe care îl cere și munteanul și moldoveanul .”

+ Ctrl V or Cmd C + Cmd V in Mac.
