Continuous Tense
Când se folosește Prezentul Continuu? Prezentul
Continuu se folosește pentru a descrie:

ACȚIUNI ÎN PREZENT= acțiuni care se petrec la momentul vorbirii

De exemplu:
Citesc cartea acum. .
I’m reading the book now

SITUAȚII TEMPORARE= ceva ce credem că este doar temporar

De exemplu:
El își caută un job nou zilele astea.
He’s looking for a new job these days
PLANURI FIXATE PENTRU VIITOR= planuri pentru viitorul apropiat

De exemplu:
Mă duc la școală în două ore.
I’m going to school in two hours

OBICEIURI ENERVANTE (annoying habits)= used with always

De exemplu:
Mereu uiți să încui ușa!
You are always forgetting to close the door!

CEVA CE SE REPETĂ= din nou și din nou, „always”, nu rutină!

De exemplu:
Mereu plouă în Londra.
It’s always raining in London.

CEVA CE SE SCHIMBĂ, CE EVOLUEAZĂ= „changing”, „improving”

De exemplu:
Engleza ta se îmbunătățește!
Your English is improving.

CEVA NOU CARE ÎNLOCUIEȘTE CEVA VECHI

De exemplu:
Zilele astea, oamenii folosesc email în locul scrisorilor
These days people are using email instead of letters
 Atenție! De regulă, nu se folosește Prezentul Continuu cu verbele
statice (stative verbs), precum: believe, dislike, know, like, love, hate,
realise, remember, think, understand, want, wish, agree, smell, taste look
etc.
De exemplu, nu spunem „I am understanding you”, ci mai degrabă „I
understand you”.

Expresii de timp: now, at the moment, at the weekend, this week, these
days, today ,tonight , in this afternoon etc.

S + to be (conjugat în funcție de persoană) + Verb la infinitiv + ing

Afirmativ (+) I am working.

S + to be + not + Verb la infinitiv + ing

Negativ (-) I am not working.

To be + S + Verb la infinitiv + ing

Interogativ (?) Am I working?
