 - Ce sunt reptilele?
Reptilele sunt o clasă de vertebrate ovipare, poichiloterme, cu corpulacoperit de o piele groasă, solzoasă ,
fără picioare sau cu picioare scurte, dispuse lateral, și cu inima tricamerală. Doar câteva duc un mod de
viață acvatic sau semiacvatic. Exista 8240 de specii de reptile, care traiesc pe aproape fiecare continent al
lumii, exceptand Antarctica, unde este prea frig.

- Morfologie externa
Corpul reptilelor poate fi alungit (șopârlă, șarpe, crocodil) sau rotund (broască țestoasă). Pielea lor solzoasă
micșorează evaporarea apei din corp și le dă posibilitatea să trăiască în zone aride. Ochii sunt destul de
dezvoltați, avand un cristalin foarte elastic, ce le permite să vadă la distanțe mari.
 - Morfologie internă
Schelet - Coloana vertebrală are 10 vertebre (șopârla) sau mai multe. Cutia craniană este unită cu
prima vertebră. Din această cauză mobilitatea capului este mare.La șerpi, coastele nu sunt unite între
ele prin intermediul sternului, putând să înghită hrana mai bine.

Musculatura - Reptilele au o musculatură dezvoltată, în special pe cea a membrelor.

Sistemul digestiv -Sistemul digestiv al reptilelor este alcătuit dintr-o serie de organe și elemente care
orchestrează trecerea alimentelor și extragerea nutriențoilor. Ingerarea începe cu cavitatea bucală,
care la reptile este modificată extensiv, în special la craniile cinetice ale șerpilor și, într-o măsură mai
mică, la șopârle. Doar crocodilii au un palat secundar. Urmat de cavitatea bucală, găsim faringele,
apoi esofagul și stomacul. Sunt urmate de intestine care se golesc într-o cloacă. Tractul
gastrointestinal al majorității reptilelor este scurt, o caracteristică tipică a unei diete carnivore.
Variantele erbivore au intestine mai lungi, care le permit să digere materia vegetală. Unele dintre ele
prezintă comportamentul înghițirii pietrelor pentru a favoriza digestia.
Sistemul respirator - Respirația la reptile are loc prin plămâni. Pielea acestor organisme este groasă,
deci nu joacă un rol relevant în schimbul de gaze, așa cum se întâmplă la amfibienii cu pielea subțire și
umedă. Majoritatea membrilor au plămâni împerecheați, cu excepția șerpilor și amfisbenidelor. La
broaște țestoase, există o complicație suplimentară a procesului respirator: organele sunt închise în
coaja animalului. Pentru a rezolva această problemă, broaștele țestoase folosesc mușchii abdominali și
pectorali ca diafragmă.
Speciile de broaște țestoase care locuiesc în corpurile de apă reușesc să-și satisfacă cererile de oxigen
datorită pompării pe care le efectuează în cavitatea lor orală - care este foarte vascularizată - sau în
cloacă. Acest fenomen le permite să rămână sub apă pentru perioade semnificative de timp.
Crocodilii posedă o inovație importantă: palatul secundar. Este alcătuit dintr-o serie de pliuri de origine
cutanată care separă gura de pasajele nazale. Adică pot respira în timp ce gura animalului este deschisă.

Sistemul circulator - Inima prezintă 3 camere: două atrii și un ventricul. Sângele arterial este separat
de cel venos mai bine decât la amfibieni datorită unui început de perete despărțitor în ventricul și
amplasării principalelor vase arteriale. Sângele realizează două circuite: mare și mic. La aproape toate
reptilele, inima este tricamerală, doar la crocodili este din 4 camere.
 Sistemul nervos - În general, sistemul nervos reptilian are toate structurile de bază găsite la
amfibieni, dar mai mari - în special creierul și cerebelul.
Cu toate acestea, în comparație cu păsările și mamiferele, creierul este relativ mai mic. De exemplu,
creierul broaștelor țestoase nu depășește niciodată 1% din masa totală a animalului. Cu toate acestea,
cerebelul are o dimensiune semnificativă în acest grup de reptile.
Majoritatea organelor de simț sunt bine dezvoltate, deși există mai multe excepții.

- Reproducerea
Înmulțirea se face prin ouă depuse de femelă în locuri însorite. Ele sunt clocite cu ajutorul căldurii
solare. Dezvoltarea embrionului se face fără metamorfoza.

- Mediul de trai
Reptilele trăiesc pe aproape toate continentele, în afară de Antarctica. Majoritatea reptilelor trăiesc în
țările cu climă foarte caldă , fiind nocturne. În zonele acestea pot fi întâlnite unele specii de șopârle și
șerpi diurne. Iarna ele hibernează, din cauza micșorării temperaturii externe și interne.
 - Clasificare
A) Lacertinienii: reptile cu un corp fusiform, coada mobila , lunga si ascutita.
- dinti conici concrescuti cu maxilarul
- limba este musculoasa, mobila, bifurcata la varf, poate fi proiectata afara
- membrele sunt scurte, aszate pe lateralele corpului, cu rol de agatare (catarare) si nu de mers
- deplasarea este realizata prin tararare
- hrana este constituita din insecte, paianjeni, rame animal insectivor

 B) Ofidienii (serpii):
- reptile carnivore adaptate la tarare
- corp cilindric, lipsit de membre
-majoritatea sunt ovipari
-au un singur plaman dezvoltat
- nu prezinta stern

prada.

D) Crocodilieni (crocodili):
- reptile acvativce cu coada turtita lateral
- craniul este alungit
- ochii sunt dispusi
- orificiile narilor sunt legate de faringe astfel incat animalul poate respira fara probleme si cu gura
plina
- dintii sunt fixati in alveole

C) Chelonienii (broastele testoase):
-prezinta un test format din carapace si plastron
- testul este format din placi osoase bine sudate
- coastele si vertebrele sunt concrescute carapacii
- prezinta doua falci in forma de cioc cu margini taioase si fara dinti
- hrana este constituita din ierburi, insecte, melci
