WHY ARE CAN HIGH & CAN LOW
‘BALANCED’?
• Sistemele echilibrate reduc aceste emisii.
9
DIFFERENTIAL VOLTAGE
Abordarea „sistemului echilibrat”
utilizată pentru prevenirea EMI
Differential voltage
radiată poate fi manipulată pentru
a reduce susceptibilitatea CAN la
intrarea EMI.
Când se procesează urmele de
tensiune din CAN, CAN Low este
scăzut din semnalul CAN High
pentru a veni cu o TENSIUNE
DIFERENȚIALĂ, care definește
stările magistralei.
Cablajul J1939 este o pereche răsucită, astfel încât orice zgomot
electric lovește CAN High și CAN Low aproape în același timp.
urmele oricărui fir CAN individual.

SPN 91 – Accelerator Pedal Position

14
ERROR CHECKING
• The CAN messages have an error checking function called:
• CRC or Cyclic Redundancy Check
15
CRC - ERRORS
• EDT can display the number of errors on the CAN networks
• This should be 0 (or as close to 0 as possible)
16
CRC - ERRORS
CAN Bus is very good at detecting errors!
• If a CAN Bus system was to run for 8 hours per day, every
day, it might miss an error within a message after
approximately 1000 years

IMPEDANCE
IMPEDANȚA afectează „rata
fluxului de trafic” din fire. Trebuie
să se potrivească cu volumul și
rata de trafic preconizate.
Dimensiune adecvată, traficul
circulă lin.
Dacă se utilizează cablul de impedanță
greșit, pot rezulta blocaje și blocaje.
Mesajele se pot pierde sau se pot
reflecta în direcția greșită.
20
IMPEDANCE

TERMINATING RESISTORS
22
TERMINATING RESISTORS
• Terminating resistors are used to prevent standing waves /
reflections on the network
• They are placed at each end of the network and absorb the
remaining energy to prevent reflections
23
TERMINATING RESISTORS
• Terminating resistors also help the CAN high and low wires
to ‘discharge’ after each bit within the messages. Preventing
errors
25
TESTING
• Measuring the resistance of the CAN
– Test with ignition off & battery isolated 120 Ω
Broken wire /
resistor removed
26
TESTING
• Measuring the voltage of the CAN
– Test with ignition on 3v
CAN H = ~ 3v
27
TESTING
• Measuring the voltage of the CAN
– Test with ignition on 2v
CAN L = ~ 2v

LIN BUS
• Local Interconnect Network
• Works as a sub-bus of the CAN network
• Simpler more cost effective system for less essential
systems
• Uses only one wire for communication
• Only one ‘master’ communicates directly on the CAN
• There can be up to 16 ‘slave’ devices

ISOBUS
• ISOBus is the name given to ISO 11783
• It is a standardised CAN communication system between
tractors and implements
• It still works on J1939
• Has active terminators rather than passive (resistors)
