The liar has been telling the truth and nothing but the truth since he was made to pay for a house
he had declared would cost more than it was really worth. He was made to pay the price he had invented.
Had it been just a few thousand dollars, he might have borrowed it from his friends, but no one would
lend him a billion pounds as he is well known to be a liar, and is expected to lie about the date when he
could return the money.

Poetul dormea dus.
redactorului manuscrisul.

III. The poet was fast asleep. He had been sleeping for half an hour when its editor called / phoned to ask
when his first volume of poems would be delivered to the press. The poet had hoped he would be offered
a large house with a pool in Munich when his poems had been written. It had not occurred to him to ask
how much he would be paid before he had given his editor the manuscript. The editor wondered why the
poet slept so much and why he had not finished his volume yet, but had no idea that the poet was going to
give up poetry because he had decided he wanted to be a millionaire instead.
