La exprimarea datei in engleza se foloseste numeralul ordinal care se poate aseza inainte sau dupa numele lunii
calendaristice.
Daca numeralul ordinal precede denumirea lunii acesta este urmat de of.
Ex.: I was born in the 2 nd of June 1984 = M-am nascut pe 2 iunie 1984.
Daca numeralul ordinal este asezat dupa denulirea lunii of este omis.
Ex.: I was born on June (the) 2 nd = M-am nascut pe 2 iunie 1984.
In engleza britanica ordinea este: ziua, luna, anul.
In engleza americana ordinea este :luna, ziua, anul.

De retinut:
-pentru numeralele ordinale, la formarea datei, se foloseste prescurtarea astfel:
first (st), second(nd), third(rd), fourth(th), fifth(th), sixth(th), seventh(th),eighth(th),ninth(th), tenth(th).
Ex.: 1 st of January = 1 ianuarie, 2 nd of February = 2 februarie, 3 rd of March = 3 martie, 4 th of April = 4
aprilie, etc.
Ex.: 21 st of May = 21 mai, 22 nd of June = 22 iunie, 23 rd of July = 23 iulie, 24 th of August = 24 august, etc.
Cifra zero se poate citi ; zero, oh, nil sau love.
- zero la matematica
- oh la numere de telefon.
- nil sau nothing pentru exprimarea scorului la fotbal.
- love la tenis.
Anii in engleza se citesc cu ajutorul miilor sau a sutelor(in stil oficial) one thousand nine hundred and
ninety-two (1992).
- sau a zecilor (in vorbirea curenta) nineteen ninety-two (1992).
- anul 2000 se citeste two thousand.
Exemple:
El e nascut in 1 saptembrie 1977 = He is born on 1st of September 1977 (nineteen seventy-seven).
Ann este nascuta pe 3 ianuarie 1991 = Ann is born on 3rd of January 1991 (nineteen ninty-one).
William Shakespeare s-a nascut pe 23 aprilie 1564 = William Shakespeare was born on 23rd of April
1564(fifteen sixty-four).
Primul Razboi Mondial a inceput in 28 iulie 1914 = The First World War started on 28th of July 1914 (nineteen
fourteen).

Please get a doctor, quickly! = Va rog sa chemati repede un doctor!

Cum se face o compunere in engleza :
composition = compunere (scolara)
essay = eseu
Etapele pe care trebuie sa le urmama si de care sa tinem cont atunci cand facem o compunere in engleza sunt:
cercetare (research) gasirea unei teme; analiza(analysis) , brainstorming ( dezlantuirea ideilor), teza, compozitia
(thesis), descrierea (outline), introducerea (introduction), notarea (paragraphs), concluzii (conclusions), stil
(style), limbaj-claritate, gramatica (language).
Exemplu de compunere in engleza:
My best friend.
Friendship is very important, especially for me. During my studying, from elementary school to university, I have
lots of friends. Among these, there are a few friends who are my best friends.
Now I would like to describe you one of my best friend whose name is Peter. A main reason for what I consider
him my best friend is that he has a warm personality.
He is very friendly when he meets me. He smiles politely and asks me what have I done in the days when we
didnt see each other.
Furthermore, Peter is good manner. He never lies, hes a faithful friend and I can trust in him in any problem.
Hes also a very funny person, always tells jokes and makes me laugh.

el in orice privinta. Deasemenea este o persoana amuzanta, mereu ma face sa rad.

Drept concluzie, Peter este cel mai bun prieten al meu si care are o personalitate foarte buna si abilitate in a face
lucrurile asa cum trebuie. Il plac cu adevarat.

LONDON

London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, the largest metropolitan area in United Kingdom
and the largest urbane zone in the European Union. Located on River Thames, London is a leading global city
with strengths in arts, commerce, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services,
research and development, tourism and transport.
London is a world cultural capital and it has the third most international visitors in the world and London
Heathrow is the words busiest airport by number of international passengers.
London has a diverse range of people and cultures, having an official population of 7,825,200.
London contains four World Heritage Sites : the Tower of London, Kew Gardens, the site comprising the Palace
of Westminster, Westminster Abbey, St.Margarets Church. It also has the historic settlement Greenwich in
which the Royal Observatory marks the Prime Meridian ( 0 degrees longitude).
Other famous landmarks are: Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, St.Pauls Cathedral,
Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Wembley Stadium and Big Ben.
There are also a lot of art galleries, libraries, museums, cinemas: British Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern,
British Library, Madame Tussaud Museum.
The London Underground is the oldest underground railway network in the world and the second most extensive.
This one was very helpful during the Second World War, because lot of people could save their lifes refuging
there.

LONDRA

Londra este capitala Angliei si al Regatului Unit al Marii Britanii, cea mai vasta zona metropolitana in Regatul
Unit cat si cea mai vasta zona metropolitana din Uniunea Europeana. Asezata pe fluviul Tamisa, Londra este un
lider global cu puncte forte in arta, comert, divertisment, moda, finante, ocrotirea sanatatii, media, servicii
profesionale, cercetare si dezvoltare, turism si transport.
Londra este o capitala culturala mondiala si ocupa locul trei in lume cu cel mai mare numar de vizitatori de
peste hotare iar aeroportul Heathrow din Londra este cel mai aglomerat aeroport din lume ca numar de pasageri
internationali.
Londra are o categorie diversa de populatie si culturi, avand o populatie oficiala de 7,825,200 locuitori.

refugiindu-se acolo.

Exprimarea orei in engleza

Pentru exprimarea orei cronologice in limba engleza se foloseste forma oclock iar propozitia incepe de obicei cu
pronumele it, insa forma oclock se foloseste doar pentru ore fixe. Ex.: its two oclock = este ora doua.
- jumatatea de ora se exprima prin half iar sfertul prin (a) quarter.
- pentru a exprima fractiunile de ore pana la si jumatate se mentioneaza numarul minutelor si prepozitia past.
Ex.: Its twenty past ten = Este ora zece si douazeci.
- pentru exprimarea fractiunilor de ora intre jumatate si ora urmatoare se mentioneaza numarul de minute urmat
de prepozitia to.
Ex.: Its five to eleven = Este ora unsprezece fara cinci.
- cu alte cuvinte past inseamna siiar to inseamna fara .
Exemple:
Its nine oclock = Este ora 9.
Its fourteen minutes past six = Este ora 6 si 14.

Its (a) quarter past eight = Este ora 8 si un sfert.
Its half past five = Este ora 5 jumatate.
Its twenty-three to one = Este ora 1 fara 23.
Its (a) quarter to three = Este ora 3 fara un sfert.
Its two to two = Este ora 2 fara 2.
De retinut: in engleza americana se folosesc prepozitiile after si before in loc de past si to , iar pentru jumatate se
foloseste thirty.
Ex.: Its nine thirty = Este ora 9 jumatate.
De retinut: in vorbirea curenta si simplificata se mai poate exprima ora si astfel:
4:15 = four fifteen (Este ora 4 si cincisprezece).

Pronumele interogativ in engleza:
este un pronume folosit in constructii interogative. A se tine cont de faptul ca pronumele este parte de vorbire
flexibila care tine locul unui substantiv.
Principalele pronume interogative in engleza sunt:
Cand se face referire la o persoana:
N who? = care? cine?
Ac whom? = pe care?
D to whom? = caruia? careia?
G whose? = al, a, ale () careia, caruia () ?
Cand se face referire la un lucru, la o actiune :

Pronumele interogativ in engleza se foloseste in urmatoarele cazuri:
- o intrebare directa: - What is going to happen now? = Ce se va intampla acum?
- o intrebare indirecta: She asked me what is going to happen now= Ea m-a intrebat ce se va intampla acum.
- in expresii idiomice: What about a cigarette? = Ce zici, vrei sa fumezi?
Pronumele interogativ who, whom, whose este folosit doar pentru persoane si inlocuieste o forma masculina sau
feminina.
Ex.: Who drunk the coffee? Jonh/Ann did. = Cine a baut cafeaua? John/Ann au baut-o.
Who este folosit la nominativ ca pronume interogativ.
Whom este folosit la acuzativ ca pronume interogativ.
Pronumele what este folosit pentru lucruri si pentru actiuni ca pronume interogativ:
Ex.: What is this? = Ce este acesta?
What is happening? = Ce se intampla?
Pronumele interogativ which este folosit pentru lucruri si persoane atat la singular cat si la plural, subiect sau
obiect. Nu poate fi posesiv.
