4. BERLIN
mentionata in 1197, iar Kopenick in 1209.
In 1415, Frederick 1 a devenit principele care a condos Brandenburgul pana in
1440.
Sub
conducerea lui Frederick 1 in 1701, Berlin a devenit capitala regatului
Prusiei.
orasului.
In 1861, suburbii ca Wedding, Moabit, au
fost incluse in Berlin. In 1871, Berlin devine capitala imperiului german dupa
proclamarea acesteia la Versailles.
La sfarsitul primului razboi mondial in 1918, Republica Weimar a fost
proclamata parte a Berlinului.
Conducerea nazista a distrus comunitatea evreiasca a Berlinului care a numarat
in jur de 170000 de membrii pana in 1933. In timpul razboiului, mari parti ale
Berlinului au fost distruse intre anii 1943-1945 in urma raidurilor aeriene si in
in urma tratatului de unificare .
GEOGRAFIE
ramase in urma epocii de gheata.

ECONOMIE
Sachen are cea mai impresionanta economie din statele GDR. Economia a
Berlin) s-au calificat ca fiind obiective numarul 1 in dezvoltarea regionala in
cadrul U.E. si acestea pot primii investitii de pana la 30% pana in 2013. In scopul
regiune, in special in districtul lacului Lausitz.
Sachsenului.
CULTURA
Multe locuri din Sachsen poarta nume derivate din Sorbia( o limba slava).
Se face distinctia dintre Old Saxon si Low Saxon. Alte dialecte germane existente
Dresdenului. Tot aici gasim hoteluri inedited , ca Nichtraucher Hotel si
Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe.
In Dresden se afla Semperoperul.

7.Thuringen
parte a vechiului stat german Turingia. În perioada 1947-1952 a existat un stat
Thuringia borders on (from the northwest and clockwise) the German states of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt,
Saxony, Bavaria and Hesse. The ridges of the western Harz Mountains divide the region from Lower Saxony on
the north-west, while the eastern Harz similarly separates Thuringia from the state of Saxony-Anhalt to the
north-east. To the south and southwest, the Thuringian Forest effectively separates the ancient region of
Franconia, now the northern part of Bavaria, from the rolling plains of most of Thuringia. The central Harz
range extends southwards along the western side into the northwest corner of the Thuringian Forest region,
making Thuringia a lowland basin of rolling plains nearly surrounded by ancient somewhat-difficult mountains.
To the west across the mountains and south is the drainage basin of the Rhine River.
The most conspicuous geographical feature of Thuringia is the Thuringian Forest, a mountain chain in the southwest.
The Werra River, a tributary of the Weser River, separates this mountain chain from the volcanic Rhön Mountains,
which are partially in Thuringia, Bavaria, and Hesse. In the northwest, Thuringia includes a small part of the Harz.
The eastern part of Thuringia is generally a plain. The Saale River runs through these lowlands from south to north.
8. Bremen
Bremen [ˈbʀeːmən] is a Hanseatic city in northwestern Germany (official name: Stadtgemeinde Bremen / City
Municipality of Bremen). It is a port city, situated along the river Weser, about 60 km (37 mi) south from its
mouth on the North Sea. Bremen is one of two towns belonging to the state of Bremen (official name: Freie
Hansestadt Bremen1 (Free Hanseatic City of Bremen), referring to its membership in the medieval Hanseatic
League), the other being Bremerhaven. In 2005, the population of the city was estimated to be 545,983 (the
state with the city Bremerhaven having a population of 664,080), while the metropolitan area of Bremen-
Oldenburg has a population of more than 2.37 million. Thus, Bremen is the second most populous city in North
Germany and tenth in Germany.
POLITICA
The Stadtbürgerschaft (municipal assembly) is made up of 68 of the 83 legislators of the state legislature, the
Bremische Bürgerschaft, who reside in the city of Bremen. The legislature is elected by the citizens of Bremen
every four years.[1]
One of the two mayors (Bürgermeister) is elected President of the Senate (Präsident des Senats) and serves as
head of the city and the state. The current President is Jens Böhrnsen.
Atractii turistice
Many of the sights in Bremen are found in the Altstadt (Old Town), an oval area surrounded by
the Weser River, on the southwest, and the Wallgraben, the former moats of the medieval city walls, on the
northeast. The oldest part of the Altstadt is the southeast half, starting with the Marktplatz and ending at the
Schnoor district.
The Marktplatz (Market square) is dominated by the opulent façade of the Town Hall. The
building was erected between 1405 and 1410 in Gothic style, but the façade was built two centuries later (1609–
12) in Renaissance style. Today, it hosts a restaurant in original decor with gigantic wine barrels, and the wine
lists boasts more than 600—exclusively German—wines. It is also home of the twelve oldest wines in the
world, stored in their original barrels in the Apostel chamber.
In front and to the side of the Town Hall stand two statues: one is the statue (1404) of the city's
protector, Roland, bearing Durendart, the "sword of justice" and a shield decorated with an imperial eagle. The
other is Gerhard Marcks's 1953 bronze sculpture Die Stadtmusikanten (Town Musicians) which portrays the
donkey, dog, cat, and rooster of the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale.
Other interesting buildings in the vicinity of the Marktplatz are the Schütting, a 16th-century
Flemish-inspired guild hall, and the Stadtwaage, the former weigh house (built in 1588), with an ornate
Renaissance façade. The façades and houses surrounding the market square were the first buildings in Bremen
to be restored after World War II, by the citizens of Bremen themselves.
The impressive Cathedral St. Petri (13th century), to the east of the Marktplatz, with sculptures
of Moses and David, Peter and Paul,Charlemagne and Christopher Maki.
The Liebfrauenkirche (Our Lady's Church) is the oldest church of the town (11th century). Its
crypt features several impressive murals from the 14th century.
Off the south side of the Markplatz, the 110-metre (120 yards) Böttcherstraße was transformed
in 1923–1931 by the coffee magnate Ludwig Roselius, who commissioned local artists to convert the narrow
street (in medieval time, the street of the barrel makers) into an inspired mixture of Gothic and Art Nouveau. It
was considered "entartete Kunst" (depraved art) by the Nazis. Today, the street is one of Bremen's most popular
attractions.
At the end of Böttcherstraße, by the Weser bank, stands the Martinikirche (St Martin's
Church), a Gothic brick church built in 1229, and rebuilt in 1960 after its destruction in World War II.
Tucked away between the Cathedral and the river is the Schnoor, a small, well-preserved area
of crooked lanes and fishing houses from the 15th and 16th centuries, now occupied by cafés, artisan shops and
art galleries.
Schlachte, the medieval harbour of Bremen (the modern port is some kilometres downstream)
and today a riverside boulevard with pubs and bars aligned on one side and the banks of Weser on the other.
More contemporary tourist attractions include:
The Neues Museum Weserburg, an art museum with modern paintings and sculptures
BREMEN

Reunificarea Germaniei.
Brandenburg (listen (help·info); Lower Sorbian: Bramborska; Upper Sorbian: Braniborska) is one of the sixteen
states of Germany. It lies in the east of the country and is one of the new states that were re-created in 1990
upon the reunification of the former West Germany and East Germany. The capital is Potsdam. Brandenburg
surrounds but does not include the national capital Berlin.
Geografie
Brandenburg is bordered by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the north, Poland in the east, the Free State of
Saxony in the south, Saxony-Anhalt in the west, and Lower Saxony in the northwest.
The Oder River forms a part of the eastern border, the Elbe River a portion of the western border. The main
rivers in the state itself are the Spree and the Havel. In the southeast, there is a wetlands region called the
Spreewald; it is the northernmost part of Lusatia, where the Sorbs, a Slavic people, still live. These areas are
bilingual, i.e., German and Sorbian are both used.
Brandenburg is known for its well-preserved natural environment and its ambitious nature protection policy
which began in the 1990s. 15 large protected areas were designated following Germany's reunification. Each of
them is provided with state-financed administration and a park ranger staff, who guide visitors and work to
ensure nature conservation. Most protected areas have visitor centers.
POLITICA
10..BADEN- WURTTEMBERG
Baden-Württemberg is one of the 16 states (Bundesländer) of the Federal Republic of Germany. Baden-
Württemberg is in the southwestern part of the country to the east of the Upper Rhine—but one which has some
of its major cities straddling the banks of the Neckar River (Tübingen, Stuttgart , Heilbronn, Heidelberg,
Mannheim). It is third largest in both area and population among the country's sixteen states, with an area of
35,742 square kilometers (13,800.1 sq mi) and 10.7 million inhabitants (both almost equivalent to all of
Belgium). The state capital is Stuttgart.
Geography
The state borders on Switzerland to the south, on France to the west, and on the German states of Rhineland-
Pfalz (northwest), Hessen (north) and Bayern (east).
Its principal cities include Stuttgart, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Heilbronn, Ludwigsburg,
Ulm, Tübingen, Pforzheim and Reutlingen.
The Rhine (Rhein) forms the western border as well as large portions of the southern border. The Black Forest
(Schwarzwald), the main mountain range of the state, rises east of the Rhine valley. Baden-Württemberg shares
both Lake Constance (Bodensee) and the foothills of the Alps with Switzerland.
The Danube (Donau) river has its source in Baden-Württemberg near the town of Donaueschingen, in a place
called Furtwangen in the Black Forest.
Economy
Although it has a few multinationals, Baden-Württemberg's economy is basically dominated by small and
medium-sized enterprises. Many enterprises are considered innovative. Although poor in workable natural
resources (formerly lead, zinc, iron, silver, copper and salts) and still rural in many areas, the region is heavily
industrialized. In 2003, there were almost 8,800 manufacturing enterprises with more than 20 employees, but
only 384 with more than 500. The latter category accounts for 43% of the 1.2 million persons employed in
industry. Medium-sized businesses and a tradition of branching out into different industrial sectors have ensured
specialization over a wide range. A fifth of the "old" Federal Republic's industrial gross value added is
generated by Baden-Württemberg. Turnover for manufacturing in 2003 exceeded 240,000 million, 43% of
which came from exports. The region depends to some extent on global economic developments, though the
great adaptability of the region's economy has generally helped it through crises. Half of the employees in the
manufacturing industry are in mechanical and electrical engineering and automobile construction. This is also
where the largest enterprises are to be found. The importance of the precision mechanics industry also extends
beyond the region's borders, as does that of the optical, clock making, toy, metallurgy and electronics industries.
The textile industry, which formerly dominated much of the region, has now all but disappeared from Baden-
Württemberg. Research and development (R&D) is funded jointly by the State and industry. In 2001, more than
a fifth of the 100,000 or so persons working in R&D in the Federal Republic were located in Baden-
Württemberg, most of them in the Stuttgart area. [2] Baden-Württemberg is also a member of the Four Motors of
Europe.
[edit] Politics
Main article: Politics of Baden-Württemberg
The politics of Baden-Württemberg are dominated by the rightist Christian Democratic Union of Germany
(CDU), who have led all but one governments since the establishment of the state in 1952. The CDU currently
have a minority of one in the state assembly, and rule in coalition with the liberal Free Democratic Party. The
opposition is lead by the leftist Social Democratic Party of Germany and the Alliance '90/The Greens party.
Until 2001 the anti-immigration The Republicans party also had seats in the state assembly.
Die Region Donau-Iller umfasst auch angrenzende Gebiete in Bayern. Die Region Rhein-Neckar umfasst auch
angrenzende Gebiete in Hessen und Rheinland-Pfalz.
11. Rheinland-pfalz
Rheinhessen.
Rhineland-Palatinate borders (from the north and clockwise) North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Baden-
Württemberg, France, Saarland, Luxembourg and Belgium.
The biggest river of the state is the Rhine river, which forms the border with Baden-Württemberg and Hesse in
the southeast before running through the northern part of Rhineland-Palatinate. The Rhine Valley is bounded by
mountain chains and forms a fascinating landscape containing some of the most historically significant places in
Germany.
The Eifel and Hunsrück mountain chains are found on the west bank of the Rhine in northern Rhineland-
Palatinate, while the Westerwald and Taunus mountains are found on the east bank. The hilly lands in the
southernmost region of the state are covered by the Palatinate forest and the Palatinate.
These mountain chains are separated from each other by the following tributaries of the Rhine: the Moselle
(Mosel), the Lahn and the Nahe.

Industry
Important sectors are the chemical industry with the BASF largest chemical company in the world,
headquartered in Ludwigshafen, the pharmaceutical industry with Boehringer Ingelheim in Ingelheim am Rhein
and the mechanical engineering for important car manufacturers like Opel (engines in Kaiserslautern) or the
biggest European truck manufacturer DaimlerChrysler-Truck-Group in Wörth am Rhein, as well as Stabilus, a
manufacturer of shock absorbers and world market leader in pneumatic springs and Schottel for nautical
engineering. Cookie and cracker specialist Griesson - de Beukelaer is one of the leading biscuit manufacturers
in Germany. Bitburger is one of the major brewers in Germany and the Gerolsteiner Brunnen is also a leader in
its sector, the mineral water bottlers. The famous electronic organ manufacturer Wersi is headquartered in
Halsenbach.
Economy
Agriculture has always been a very important economic factor in Lower Saxony. Wheat, potatoes, rye, and oats
as well as beef, pork and poultry are some of the state's present-day agricultural products. The north and
northwest of Lower Saxony are mainly made up of coarse sandy soil that makes crop farming difficult and
therefore grassland and cattle farming are more prevalent in those areas. Towards the south and southeast,
extensive loess layers in the soil left behind by the last ice age allow high-yield crop farming. One of the
principal crops there is sugar beet.
Mining has been an important source of income in Lower Saxony for centuries. Silver ore became a foundation
of notable economic prosperity in the Harz Mountains as early as the 1100s, while iron mining in the Salzgitter
area and salt mining in various areas of the state became another important economic backbone. Although
overall yields are comparatively low, Lower Saxony is also an important supplier of crude oil in the European
Union. Mineral products still mined today include iron and lignite.
Manufacturing is another large part of the regional economy. Despite decades of gradual downsizing and
restructuring, the car maker Volkswagen with its five production plants within the state's borders still remains
the single biggest private-sector employer, its world headquarters based in Wolfsburg. Due to a legal act
commonly known as the Volkswagen Law that has just recently been ruled illegal by the European Union's high
court, the state of Lower Saxony is still the second largest shareholder, owning 20.3% of the company. [2] Due to
the importance of car manufacturing in Lower Saxony, a thriving supply industry is centered around its regional
focal points. Other mainstays of the Lower Saxon industrial sector include aviation, shipbuilding,
biotechnology, and steel.
The service sector has gained importance following the demise of manufacturing in the 1970s and 1980s.
Important branches today are the tourism industry with TUI in Hanover, one of Europe's largest travel
companies, as well as trade and telecommunication.

13.HAMBURG
