Apa de trandafir (denumire improprie care poate include extracte apoase, hidroalcoolice
sau hidroglicerolalcoolice) si uleiul esential de trandafir sunt produse cunoscute omenirii
inca din antichitate si utilizate traditional in Europa, Orientul Mijlociu, India si America de
Nord, atat pentru actiunile lor terapeutice, cat si in cadrul unor ritualuri religioase. [2]
Conform European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), unele persoane pot suferi reactii alergice
cutanate in urma aplicarii de citronellol, geraniol si linalool, compusi majoritari in
compozitia uleiului esential de trandafir.
