Competențele generale şi specifice care trebuie formate prin procesul de predare-învăţare a disciplinei Istoria Marii Britanii şi a Statelor Unite ale
Americii îşi propun să promoveze următoarele valori şi atitudini:
 Receptarea corespunzătoare a mesajelor transmise, pe cale orală şi scrisă, în situaţii de comunicare diferite, într-o limbă modernă, de
circulaţie internaţională
• Respectul faţă de diversitatea realităţilor umane
 Antrenarea gândirii prospective prin înţelegerea rolului istoriei în viaţa prezentă şi ca factor de predicţie a schimbărilor
• Respectarea drepturilor şi valorilor fundamentale ale omului
• Dezvoltarea atitudinilor pro-active în viaţa personală şi cea socială
• Relaţionarea pozitivă cu ceilalţi
