Asociația Profesorilor de Limba Engleză din Oltenia este o
organizație regională, non-guvernamentală, apolitică şi non-profit,
înființată în Oltenia în vederea strângerii legăturii dintre toți profesorii
de limba engleză pentru desfășurarea și promovarea activităților de
natură să asigure dezvoltarea individuală și socială. Asociația își propune
să deruleze activități cu caracter științific, cultural și umanitar. Asociația
a fost înființată în octombrie 2018 și are sediul central în Craiova.
Asociația se vrea partenerul tuturor profesorilor de limba
engleză, în vederea realizării unor parteneriate educaționale, publicații
online și a unor concursuri școlare. De asemenea, ne propunem organizarea unor
conferințe, mese rotunde și suntem deschiși tuturor propunerilor venite din partea
dumneavoastră.
În cadrul APLEO, Consiliul director a luat decizia înființării
Departamentului pentru limba germană. Toți colegii care
predau limba germană se pot implica în activitățile desfășurate în cadrul APLEO
în cadrul acestui departament.
APLEO propune tuturor profesorilor de limba engleză și de limba germană o

Bibliotecă virtuală unde profesorii și elevii pot găsi materiale
GRATUITE menite să sprijine activitatea de predare-învățare-evaluare. De
asemenea, ne propunem realizarea unor materiale pentru profesorii de limba
engleză și limba germană necesare pentru proiectarea didactică și realizarea unor lecții cât
mai atractive.
APLEO vine în sprijinul elevilor și profesorilor care fac performanță. De aceea,

încă din primul an de la înființare, APLEO a inițiat Ceremonia de
premiere a elevilor care s-au calificat la Olimpiada Națională de Limba
Engleză. Pentru că suntem alături de profesori și elevi și pentru a susține și
încuraja performanța, APLEO va oferi aceste premii anual.
APLEO vine în sprijinul colegilor, profesori de limba engleză și limba

germană, care doresc să se perfecționeze și organizează Conferințe atât cu
participare locală, națională, dar și internațională.
Conferința Națională Limbile Moderne de la Tradiție la Inovație a trezit
interesul profesorilor de limba engleză, nu numai din regiunea Olteniei, dar și celor din
întreaga țară. Invitata specială, Sarah Ellis, a reușit să depășească așteptările, chiar și a celor
mai sceptici dintre cei peste 100 de participanți.
Conferința interjudețeană Tehnici de Predare în Clasa Postmodernă a adus
împreună participanți din județele Olteniei. Ediția I a lărgit orizontul participanților și a
oferit posibilitatea speaker-ilor de a împărtăși din experiența lor. Ambele proiecte s-au
bucurat de un real succes și sperăm să devină o tradiție.
In vederea încurajării elevilor talentați și pasionați de limba engleză, încă
de la clasele primare, APLEO a inițiat două concursuri pentru toate
vârstele. In parteneriat cu am putut oferi premii
substanțiale câștigătorilor.
Concursul de Ortografie în limba engleză Spelling Rules care se adresează
elevilor claselor II – V, s-a desfășurat la Colegiul Național „Elena Cuza” și, încă de la prima
ediție, s-a dovedit un proiect de succes. Ocupanții locurilor I de la fiecare nivel au primit ca
premiu un examen Cambridge.
Concursul English for teens care se adresează atât elevilor de gimnaziu, cât și
elevilor de liceu, respectiv clasele III – XII, a înregistrat de la prima ediție un număr ridicat
de participanți.
Ambele proiecte vor continua și anul acesta cu sprijinul partenerilor noștri de la
Colegiul Național „Elena Cuza” din Craiova.
APLEO propune tuturor profesorilor de limba engleză și limba germană,

care doresc să-și îmbogățească activitatea profesională prin publicarea unor
articole de specialitate, revista internațională Pygmalion. Această
publicație va apărea în format electronic, respectiv online, iar membrii
APLEO vor publica articole și studii fără costuri. Articolele trebuie să se
încadreze într-o tematică bine stabilită, să aibă o structură specifică, să
respecte anumite cerințe și anumite standarde. Toate aceste detalii și alte
informații vor fi disponibile pe site-urile noastre.
La sfârșitul anului 2020 APLEO va relansa, după o pauză de peste 10

ani, publicația The Sentinel. Aceasta se adresează tuturor elevilor care
doresc să publice în limba engleză. Publicația va apărea anual în format
electronic, respectiv online. Tematica articolelor rămâne la libera alegere a
elevului și a profesorului coordonator. Contribuțiile pot fi trimise pe adresa de
mail sentinel@apleo.ro
APLEO a lansat în luna decembrie 2019, Concertul de Crăciun în colaborare

cu Teatrul Național “Marin Sorescu” din Craiova, și cu Partenerii Colegiul
Național “Frații Buzești”, Colegiul Național “Carol I”, Colegiul Național
“Elena Cuza”, Colegiul Național Militar “Tudor Vladimirescu” și Liceul de
Arte “Marin Sorescu”. Elevii au transpus în scenă lumea de basm a Crăciunului, prin
colindele pe care le-au interpretat. Proiectul va continua și în anii următori.
APLEO dorește să vină în sprijinul profesorilor care doresc să se perfecționeze cu

Despre autori
Cornelia PĂTRU vicepreședinte și membru fondator APLEO, este
absolventă a Facultăţii de Litere, Universitatea din Craiova, specializarea
Română-Engleză, a urmat studiile de master ale aceleiași facultăți,
specializarea Limba Engleză – Unitate şi diversitate culturală în predarea
şi învățarea limbii engleze în context european. Este profesor titular de
limba engleză, gradul I, la Şcoala Gimnazială „Mircea Eliade”, Craiova,
membru în Consiliu Consultativ pentru disciplina limba engleză, profesor
metodist al ISJ Dolj, formator, mentor de practică pedagogică și autor de
articole și studii de specialitate.
Diana Victoria COTESCU Președinta Asociației profesorilor de limba engleză din

Oltenia – APLEO, eseist, traducător, membru al Uniunii Ziariștilor
Profesioniști din România, profesor titular de limba engleză la Colegiul
Naţional „Fraţii Buzeşti”. Este o persoană activă, fiind consilier
educativ, membru al Consiliului de administrație, membru în Consiliu
consultativ pentru disciplina limba engleză, profesor metodist de
specialitate, responsabil de cerc pedagogic şi mentor de practică
pedagogică etc. Face parte din colectivul de cercetători-colaboratori ai
Institutului de Studii şi Cercetări Socio-Umane „C.S. Nicolăescu-
Plopşor” Craiova al Academiei Române. A primit numeroase diplome
şi medalii pentru activitatea interdisciplinară, i s-a conferit titlul de
„Cetăţean al Europei” de către Liga Culturală pentru Unitatea
Românilor de Pretutindeni. Activitatea publicistică este foarte bogată,
fiind autoarea unui număr de 11 cărți, 6 studii în volume, 4 ediții îngrijite, 4 prefațe și
numeroase studii și articole în reviste din țară și din străinătate.
Daniel LEOTESCU voluntar în cadrul APLEO, profesor titular

de limba engleză, gradul didactic I, la Colegiul Național „Carol I”,
Craiova. Absolvent al Facultății de Litere Universitatea din Craiova,
specializarea limba română – limba engleză. Și-a continuat studiile
universitare cu master în domeniul managementului educațional
„Management educațional” la Universitatea din Craiova. Un profesor
cu o amplă activitate didactică pentru învățământul primar, gimnazial
și liceal, inspector școlar, mentor, trainer, metodist al ISJ Dolj, autor a
diverse studii și articole.
Larisa CARAMAVROV membru APLEO, profesor titular de

limba engleză la Școala Gimnazială „Ion Țuculescu", Craiova.
Profesează în învățământ de 20 de ani și deține gradul didactic I.
Absolventă a Facultății de Automatizări si Calculatoare promoția 1994,
Absolventă a Facultății de Litere, Craiova, Specializarea Limba engleză
- Limba română, promoția 2000. În 2006 a încheiat studiile
universitare de master „Unitate și diversitate culturală în studierea
limbii și literaturii engleze”, Universitatea din Craiova, responsabil de
cerc pedagogic și mentor.
Ioana DAN membru APLEO, profesor de limba engleză, gradul
didactic I, la Școala Gimnaziala „Mihai Viteazul” , Craiova. Absolventă a
Facultății de Litere Universitatea din Craiova, specializarea limba
română – limba engleză, a masteratului „Lingvistică romanică” în cadrul
Universității din Craiova. Experiență de 20 de ani în învățământ,
membru in comisiile de organizare a diferitelor competiții școlare
județene, interjudețene și naționale. A făcut parte din comisiile de
organizare ale olimpiadelor și concursurilor școlare. De asemenea, a
participat la numeroase cursuri și seminarii de formare profesională, a
publicat articole și materiale didactice în reviste de specialitate.
Teodora DRAGOTĂ, profesor de limba engleză, gradul I la C.N.

„Tudor Vladimirescu”,Tg-Jiu, inspector școlar pentru limbi moderne ISJ
Gorj în perioada 2017-2019, Cambridge Examiner-Eurolingva din anul
2017, membru fondator al APLEO coordonator de proiecte Comenius,
Erasmus+, Grundtvig, Euroscola (2010 -prezent). Absolventă a Facultăţii
de Litere, Universitatea Craiova şi a unui master in domeniul educaţional.
Profesor cu o vastă experienţă în predare la nivel primar, gimnazial, liceal,
mentor şi trainer, autor de diverse studii şi articole. A facut parte din
Comisia Naţională de Evaluare a Olimpiadei Naţionale de Limba engleză , şi a
organizat centre de examinare Cambridge, olimpiade şcolare locale,judeţene.A paricipantă
la cursuri de formare în Gloucester(Anglia) şi Dunfermline (Scoţia),UK.
Adrian GEICU membru APLEO, profesor limba engleză, la Școala

Profesională Daneți. A absolvit cursurile Facultății de Litere, specializarea
limba și literatura engleză - limba si literatura germană în cadrul
Universității din Craiova. In perioada 2009-2010 a studiat la Ruhr
Universität Bochum specializarea Anglistik/Germanistik. Și-a continuat
studiile in perioada 2011-2013 cu Master - limba engleză - Studii teoretice
si aplicate. În prezent este membru al Consiliului Consultativ al disciplinei
limba engleză din cadrul ISJ Dolj, autor a diverse studii și cărți de
specialitate.
Julieta HUSARCIUC membru fondator APLEO, profesor titular de

limba engleză, gradul didactic I, la Liceul Tehnologic „Tudor Vladimirescu”,
Mehedinți. Absolventă a Facultății de Litere Universitatea ”Spiru Haret”,
București, specializarea limba română - limba engleză. Și-a continuat
studiile universitare cu master în domeniul managementului educațional
„Management educațional” la Universitatea „Vasile Goldiș”, Arad. A
absolvit programul de studii postuniversitare ”Informatică Tehnică”, la
Universitatea din Craiova. Profesor cu amplă activitate didactică pentru
învățământul, gimnazial și liceal, trainer, metodist al ISJ Mehedinți, autor a
diverse studii și articole și formator acreditat al Asociației Generale a
Cadrelor Didactice din România ,,Dăscălimea Română” în cadrul programelor nonformale
și extracurriculare.
Laura POPA membru APLEO, profesor, gradul didactic I, titular la

Școala Gimnazială „Axente Sever” Aiud și Liceul Tehnologic Agricol
„Alexandru Borza”, Ciumbrud, absolventă a Facultății de Teologie-Litere-
secția engleză (promoția 2004) din cadrul Universității “1 Decembrie
1918” din Alba Iulia. Masterat în Mediere interculturală în cadrul aceleași
universități. A deținut funcția de inspector școlar de limbi moderne în
perioada august 2018-ianuarie 2020, fiind și membru si profesor
evaluator in comisia centrală a Olimpiadei de limba engleză-faza
națională, 2019, predau limba engleză la ciclul primar, gimnazial și liceal.
Carmen SĂRDĂRESCU membru APLEO, profesor de limba

engleză, gradul didactic I, titular la Colegiul Național de Informatică „Matei
Basarab” din Râmnicu Vâlcea, absolventă a Facultății de Litere-secția
engleză-franceză (promoția 1998) din cadrul Universității „Babeș-Bolyai”
din Cluj Napoca. Profesor metodist și membru al Consiliului Consultativ al
profesorilor de limbi moderne in cadrul ISJ Vâlcea , îndrumător de practică
pedagogică, membru și profesor evaluator în Comisia Centrală a Olimpiadei
de limba engleză-faza națională, predă limba engleză din anul 1998 la ciclul
primar, gimnazial și liceal.
Simona SĂLCEANU membru APLEO, profesor titular de limba

engleză, gradul didactic I, la Școala Gimnazială „Alexandru Macedonski”,
Craiova. Absolventă a Facultății de Litere Universitatea din Craiova,
specializarea limba si literatura engleza – limba si literatura franceza. Și-
a continuat studiile universitare cu masterul „Unitate si diversitate
culturală in studierea limbii si literaturii engleze” la Universitatea din
Craiova. Un profesor cu experiență în predarea limbii engleze la toate
nivelurile, mentor si formator CCD.
Georgiana Corina TRANCĂ este profesor de limba engleză, gradul

didactic I, la prestigiosul Colegiu Național Elena Cuza din Craiova. Are titlul
științific de Doctor și o vechime de predare de 16 ani. Este membru fondator
APLEO și vicepreședinte. Pe parcursul întregii sale activități didactice a
manifestat interes deosebit față de tehnicile moderne de predare și a
contribuit la implementarea curriculumului național prin activități active și
proactive. În același timp, a desfășurat o bogată activitate de cercetare
științifică, materializată prin publicarea de cărți și articole de specialitate,
precum și prin participarea la conferințe științifice la nivel internațional,
național și județean.

Introducere
APLEO Companion to Teaching English Online, Volume 1 – A1, A2, A2+ este o
colecție de materiale și fișe de lucru ce se adresează profesorilor de limba engleză,
care se adaptează trecerii de la predarea clasică la predarea în mediul online, dar și
elevilor ce doresc să aprofundeze cunoștințele de limba engleză. Aceștia au la dispoziție
o varietate de materiale create pentru predarea online, dar și pentru lucrul în clasă sau
pentru cei ce învață limba engleză in mod independent.
Materialele sunt structurate în trei capitole ce corespund celor trei niveluri de
dificultate – A1, A2, A2+ conform Cadrului European Comun de Referință pentru Limbi.
Fiecare capitol este la rândul sau împărțit in cinci categorii pe care se centrează
activitatea de învățare a limbii engleze: Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading, Writing și
Listening, vizând competențe esențiale și o arie largă de probleme specifice limbii
engleze, asigurând acces la diverse tipuri de exerciții ce pot contribui la dezvoltarea
competențelor de înțelegere a limbii engleze, precum și de comunicare în limba engleză.
Varietatea exercițiilor propuse, atât în forma tradițională, cât și apelând la resurse
online, transformă experiența predării și învățării online a limbii engleze într-o
experiență nu doar utilă, ci și plăcută pentru toți actorii implicați. Pe lângă fișele de
lucru în format PDF, ghidul oferă beneficiarilor activitățile de writing în format
editabil, precum și link-urile / înregistrările necesare rezolvării sarcinilor de lucru
pentru partea de listening.
De asemenea, autorii culegerii pun la dispoziția cadrelor didactice un Teacher’s
book, ce poate fi solicitat pe baza unei declarații pe propria răspundere.
Cu speranța că atât profesorii cât și elevii vor considera acest material nu doar
util, ci și interesant, vă dorim mult succes in activitatea de predare și învățare a limbii
engleze!
Acest prim volum se dorește a inaugura o serie de materiale auxiliare pe care
APLEO vi le propune, cu speranța că vor deveni instrumente utile pentru profesori și
elevi deopotrivă.

Line a 20cm loaf tin with foil, grease the inside and lay slices of one of the
bananas on the base. Preheat oven to 170C (fan assisted). Roughly chop the
dark chocolate into a large mixing bowl. Add the flour, cocoa powder, sugar,
baking powder and salt, and mix all of these dry ingredients together.
Finely grate the sweet potato and set aside. Blend the ripe banana, oil, egg,
vanilla and quinoa until smooth, add to the sweet potato. Combine the wet
and dry ingredients together, then pour over the sliced banana in the loaf
tin. Bake for 40 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean). Turn upside
down, gently remove the foil and then allow to cool.

This is the story of Snow White. In a kingdom far,

Task1. Read the following text:
A few years ago, I worked as an elf at a holiday resort in Lapland, in the
north of Sweden. The resort was in a forest. Visitors and workers
stayed in small wooden cabins all around the forest. There was one large
cabin where people ate meals.
Tourists used to stay at the resort for four days. On the first day, they
arrived at the airport and travelled to the resort by coach. I didn’t have
to work until the evening. Sometimes I went skiing. Then, while the
guests had their evening meal, I worked behind the desk in reception. I
helped people find their cabins, told them about the itinerary and sold
tickets for extra tours. I didn’t dress as an elf at that time; I wore the
hotel uniform.
On the second day, I and three other elves got up at about eight o’clock.
Of course, it was still dark at that time. In Lapland it gets light at about
half past ten during the winter, and it gets dark again soon after two
o’clock. We dressed in our elf costumes and drove across the snow on
skidoos to a cabin in the forest. Inside the cabin, there were huge
presents and huge tools. We had to wrap the presents and pretend to
make toys with the tools.
On the third day, we went to a different cabin – Santa’s cabin! This was
the day when the children finally met Father Christmas. The children
would meet Santa and get a toy. Then they came into the elves’ workshop

to meet us. I and the other elves pretended to make toys and chatted
to the children in our own elf language.
Working as an elf was great fun, and a magical way to spend Christmas!

The beginning of human history is sometimes

shrouded in mystery and we cannot separate
truth or fact from legend. One example is the
birth of one of the most famous cities on
Earth – Rome, the eternal city. The early
history of the city of Rome involves Romulus
and Remus, two orphan boys who, legend says, were raised by a she-wolf.
The boys' mother had been murdered by an evil king and the two babies
had been tossed into the river Tiber. When the wolf found them they
had washed up on the shore. She perhaps took pity on the crying of the
babies and, gently picking them up in her teeth, she carried them back
to her cave and fed them on her milk. The boys grew bigger and stronger
and, eventually, were found by a herdsman who took them home. He and
his wife raised the boys like their own children. When they reached

They decided to build a city. Unfortunately, they argued over the
appropriate site and Romulus killed his brother Remus. Romulus ruled

Star Trek
Perhaps the best-known science fiction TV show is Star Trek. The
original Star Trek aired on September 8, 1966. Gene Roddenberry, a
former military pilot and Los Angeles police officer, created the show. It
was about humanity joining together and exploring space. Each week, the
crew of the spaceship USS Enterprise faced danger, love, and mysterious
aliens. At its heart, however, Star Trek was about humanity. It tried to
show that human beings, although flawed, were essentially good. Star
Trek also tried to ask questions about social and political issues such as
racism, war, and human rights.
NBC, the studio that produced and aired Star Trek, was not
enthusiastic about the series but gave it a chance anyways. The show
featured many interesting characters that Star Trek fans grew to love
over the next three seasons. Captain James Kirk, played by William
Shatner, was the daring captain of the star ship USS Enterprise. His first
officer, Mr Spock, was played by Leonard Nimoy. His character was a half-
Vulcan who tightly controlled his emotions and always tried to solve
problems with logic. By 1969, Star Trek’s ratings were too low and it had
lost many viewers. It was aired during Friday nights, when most people
were not watching TV. NBC cut the show’s budget and the quality of the
shows dropped. Despite its cancellation, Star Trek lived on again in movies
and television in later years.

It looked just like another aircraft from the outside. The pilot told
his young passengers that it was built in 1964, a Boeing KC-135 refuelling
tanker, based on the 707. But appearances were deceptive, and the 13

Inside, the area that normally had seats had become a long white tunnel.
Heavily padded from floor to ceiling, it looked a bit like a lunatic asylum.

the back, where young scientists quickly took their places with a look of

For the next two hours the Boeing’s flight resembled that of an
enormous bird which had lost its reason, shooting upwards towards the
heavens before hurtling towards Earth. The intention was to achieve
weightlessness for a few second. The aircraft took off smoothly enough,
but any feelings that I and the young scientists had that we were on
anything like a scheduled passenger service were quickly dismissed when
the pilot put the plane into a 45-degree climb which lasted around 20
seconds. Then the engine cut out and we became weightless. Everything

After ten seconds of free-fall descent the pilot pulled the aircraft out of
its nosedive. The return of gravity was less immediate than its loss, but
