Așa cum se observă din exemplele de mai sus, adjectivele nu respectă aceleași reguli de formare
a gradelor de comparație. Asfel, distingem două tipuri de formare a gradelor de comparație:
I. comparația sintetică
adjectivele monosilabice:

bad rău - worse mai - the worst cel mai rău
much/many (mult/multi/multe)– more- the most –
ATENTIE! - elder și the eldest sunt folosite numai ca adjective atributive atunci când este
vorba de relații de familie/grade de rudenie: my elder brother; the eldest of his aunts
ATENTIE! - further are înțelesul de “mai mult”, “suplimentar”, “adițional” - further information
ATENTIE!
