6rima parte a con#lictului cea latent este cea n care tensiunea pre-con#lict este n cre$tere. 6e aceast poriune intervin mijloacele de prevenire a con#lictului. 9cestea sunt mecanisme de coo$erare $i cointeresare prin inducerea comunicrii? a ne+ocierii $i a )locrii Qdilemei de securitateG. 0ecanismul urmtor este cel de disuasiune prin e7ercitarea de presiuni non-violente pentru a preveni utili.area #orei inter-+rup. 6asul #inal este cel de coerci"ie care presupune #olosirea #orei pentru a preveni violena inter-+rup sau inter-state. 8$ecul prevenirii duce la cre$terea intensitii tensiunii? con#lictul trece de nivelul critic de violen $i devine deschis. 6e parcursul escalad'rii $i li#it'rii con#lictului apare mana+ementul con#lictului cu uneltele sale speci#ice? de peace-maAin+ $i peace-en#orcement. 1nstrumentele de peace-maAin+? paci#icare? tre)uie s duc la limitarea $i apoi la atenuarea con#lictului pn la co)orrea su) nivelul critic de violen. :up semnarea acordurilor de ncetare a #ocului intr n #unciune instrumentele de peace-en#orcement care duc la de.an+ajarea prilor $i a +rupurilor a#late n con#lict. 3rmtorul pas este cel de meninere a pcii prin meninerea de.an+ajat a prilor prin interpunerea unor trupe neutre acceptate de am)ele pri. 9cum intervin ne+ocierile pentru semnarea unor acorduri de pace.
