Articolul urmăreşte să descopere dacă limbajul reprezintă o modalitate de apropiere

sau de distanţare între Sergiu Andronic(personaj aparţinând planului mitic, fiinţă ce transcede
spaţiul şi timpul) şi Dorina (pământeancă) din nuvela Şarpele de Mircea Eliade. Mai întâi voi
defini conceptul de limbaj ca sistem de comunicare prin care oamenii îşi exprimă gândurile,
sentimentele, dorinţele. Voi găsi elemente prin care cele două personaje se identifică unul cu
celălalt (precum percepţia despre iubire, de exemplu, cei doi reluând povestea lui Psyhe şi
Eros) şi cum sunt acestea exprimate prin semne şi simboluri la nivelul limbajului verbal,
nonverbal(prin gesturi şi mimică) şi paraverbal (prin volumul vocii, de exemplu). De
asemenea, voi încerca să găsesc elemente ce ţin de limbaj, sau de înţelegerea greşită a
semnelor, care-i împiedică pentru un timp să-şi înfăptuiască povestea de dragoste (precum
exprimarea neîncrederii prin scepticism). Rezultatele vor pune în evidenţă faptul că limbajul
reprezintă o modalitate de apropiere între cele două personaje, dar şi un element ce stă la
baza distanţării lor. În concluzie, studiul este important pentru a evidenţia cele două valenţe
ale limbajului, faptul că acesta poate face legătura dintre eternitate şi efemeritate în spaţiul
eliadesc.
 Language - a way of approaching or distancing between the main
characters in the short story The Snake by Mircea Eliade

The article aims to discover if language is a way of approaching or distancing between

Sergiu Andronic (a character belonging to the mythical plane, a being who transcends space
and time) and Dorina (earthly character) from the short story The Snake by Mircea Eliade. I
will first define the concept of language as a system of communication through which people
express their thoughts, feelings, desires.Then I will find elements through which the two
characters identify with each other (such as the perception of love, for example, the two
resuming the story of Psyhe and Eros) and how they are expressed through signs and symbols
in verbal, nonverbal language (through gestures and mimicry) and paraverbal (through the
volume of the voice, for example). I will also try to find elements related to language, or
misunderstanding the signs, that prevent them for a while from their love story (such as
expressing distrust through skepticism). The results will highlight the fact that language is a
way of rapprochement between the two characters, but also an element that underlies distance
between them, highlighitng cultural diferences, and different historical pasts. In conclusion,
the study is important to highlight the two valences of language (it brings people together, but
it also distances them) and the fact that it can make the connection between eternity and
ephemerality in the Eliadic space.
